SYNOPSIS:

Mack
I live to race. It’s in my blood–the smell of dirt and gasoline, the fast cars, the screaming fans. I was the king of a small track in Missouri with the world at my fingertips. I even had the girl, until a call came from the infamous Colton Donavan. I had a choice to make: my dream or the woman I loved. I couldn’t have both.

When an unexpected surprise shows up on my doorstep in the form of a baby, there’s only one woman I trust enough to help me. Lena Stanley, the one I left behind. But being in close proximity to her reminds me of what we used to have, and what I still want. Her.

Lena
The day he walked away to chase his dream was the hardest day of my life, but I powered through. I could never ask Mack to choose between me and the opportunity of a lifetime. That’s why I pushed him toward the latter, despite the heartache it caused.

Now, he needs my help. The problem is it’s hard to keep old feelings buried. Despite my best efforts, our connection is too powerful to deny. However, as our short time together draws to a close, I have another difficult choice to make. Only this time, I’m not just walking away from him, but his son too.

REVIEW:

I’m a huge fan of Lacey Black’s, and her small town romances are among my favorite stories to read. When she announced her participation in K. Bromberg’s Driven world project, despite not having read that series (I know, I know!), I was excited. I absolutely love second-chance romances and Lacey has written several amazing ones. She also released a series of surprise baby romances a few years ago that was absolutely fantastic. So I knew combing those two tropes in K. Bromberg’s high-energy racing world would produce magic, and I wasn’t wrong.

Grip was a fantastic example of Lacey Black’s talent as an author. Blending tropes is something she does well, and she painted a moving picture of this couple’s rich history that drew me right in and kept me hooked. My emotions were all over the place reading this book, and it was a completely consuming read. Full of heat and heart, a bit of angst, and plenty of steam and swoon, Grip was not only a wonderful addition to Lacey’s catalog, but also a fabulous entry point to the Driven world. Five smooches from me for Grip by Lacey Black!

EXCERPT:

Duke Evans was as addictive as hot stage lights and a silky, Southern twang.

He’d almost kissed me. And I’d almost let him. I’d find a way to get over this bribe issue if it meant indulging my crush on the local sheriff. Sure, things would get awkward when I brought him a wad of cash. After all, maybe the reason he’d almost kissed me was for the money.

The woman who hadn’t been kissed in a long, long time didn’t care.

“What’s your plan for the rest of the day?” Duke asked as he drove toward the farmhouse. He rolled down the windows and the breeze tousled the long strands of hair that had escaped his hat.

“Not much. I’ve been on a baking spree.”

“What’d you make?” he asked, his voice low and smooth.

Duke drove with one hand on the wheel while his other arm was propped on the console between us. I hadn’t really noticed a man’s driving posture before, but as with everything Duke, the should-have-been-mundane details jumped out at me like fireworks. His entire demeanor shouted confidence. He was so relaxed in his skin and sexy as hell. The man was driving and I was practically drooling.

He glanced over and raised an eyebrow. Right. He’d asked me a question.

I faced forward and unscrambled my brain. “Cookies. Cinnamon rolls. Banana muffins.”

“You’ve been busy.”

“There’s not much else for me to do. Going from a hare’s speed to turtle pace has been an adjustment. At this point, I’m searching for things to do. Hence the running this morning.”

“My mom’s a teacher. She always says it takes her a couple of weeks every summer to slow down and transition from kid wrangler to domestic goddess.” He reached into the cupholder and plucked out a packet of gum.

“Want one?”

“Sure.” I unfolded the wrapper and popped the sweet mint stick into my mouth as he did the same, then I opened my mouth to say something and . . .whoa.

We were rolling through a different neighborhood than the one I’d walked through, but instead of staring at the homes and getting my bearings, my attention was locked on the bob of Duke’s Adam’s apple and the flex of his strong, square jaw.

I bet he had a talented tongue. My experience with men was relatively limited—fame was a jealous lover and wanted nothing more than your undivided attention—but if a man could chew gum like that, I bet his tongue knew its way around a woman’s lips.

And other places.

REVIEW:

Willa Nash may be the alter ego of USA Today Bestseller, Devney Perry, but her writing style is the wonderfully familiar blend of emotion, heat and suspense that I’ve come to adore about her storytelling. From the small town backdrop and the endearingly down-to-earth characters, her books are as much a love letter to Montana as they are a love story, and through her words and descriptions, I’ve fallen hard for this state, one I’ve never set foot in.

The Bribe kicks off the brand-new Calamity, Montana series, and it features a country superstar desperate to escape everything about her life and a smalltown sheriff deeply rooted in his. While not exactly cute, Duke and Lucy’s first meeting was definitely memorable, but it was their second meeting that really got things going. Lucy is in Calamity, hiding out and laying low, and Duke wants to know why. Not sure if she can trust this man, a virtual stranger, with the truth, she makes a proposition, but Duke sets some terms of his own.

Duke and Lucy’s chemistry explodes off the page, and they’re like magnets—constantly drawn to each other. Devastatingly handsome Duke is what I like to call a compassionate alpha – he has that commanding presence, that in-charge vibe, but he’s not quite so in your face about it. Like Lucy, I lapped it up like a cool drink after a long hike through Yellowstone. Lucy may be a world-famous country megastar with a team of people to support her brand and scores of adoring fans, but she’s lost and alone, mentally and emotionally exhausted from by it all. Calamity offers her a much needed respite from the spotlight, and for the first time in a long time, she finds safety and comfort in the town—and in Duke.

As a huge fan of Devney Perry’s, I had high expectations for her Willa Nash debut. I was not disappointed, though, to be honest, I didn’t expect to be. Perry as Willa Nash penned a moving, consuming, heart-flutteringly sexy love story in The Bribe that was low on the angst but high on emotion and substance. Duke and Lucy’s romance was a thoroughly addictive pleasure to read that I devoured it in a single sitting, and I’m on the edge of my seat, eager to head back to Calamity. Five smooches from me for The Bribe by Willa Nash!

“…a sexy and heartwarming story brimming with humor and endearing characters.” ~Danielle, Red Cheeks Reads

EXCERPT:

It doesn’t take long to get to Jack’s place. Griffin and he have been working together for years. Jack has always been the biggest flirt and serial dater up until he met Shelby.

But in the span of the eighteen months, he met her, got married in Vegas, and had a kid.

It was a quick courtship.

Shelby works as an interior designer on the island. She fixes up huge houses for the rich people who will only use them for a couple of months a year. The cookout this weekend was her idea since starting Monday she’s finally back at work since having their baby, Ava, two months ago. She doesn’t really have any coworkers other than her assistant, Sarah, so Jack invited all the other firefighters and their families over too.

We park on the street along with a half dozen other trucks and a few minivans from the family men. He’s out of the truck and over on my side before I can even get my things together.

“Hand it over,” he demands, his palm up waiting for me to comply.

I play dumb, wide eyes and innocence on my face. “What are you talking about?” I climb down the too big truck, trying desperately not to fall over . . . again.

“The book that’s hiding in your bag, Leni.” He points to the tote bag hanging to my side. “Come on now, give it to me. Easiest way for you not to give in to the desire to hide and read is to remove the temptation.”

“I left my book at home. Remember, you saw me set it down.” I play dumb.

“I’ve known you since we were nine. If you think I don’t know that you have a backup book in that bag, then you’re dead wrong.”

“Ugh!” I sigh dramatically as I pull out my well-loved copy of Emma and place it in his hand. He gently tosses it onto my seat, and I smack his shoulder as he does. He knows better than to throw around my books.

“Great, now the Kindle.” His voice is stern, and I know he means it.

“Seriously? Griffin, this is not cool. I’m a grown woman. I can go a few hours without reading.”

“Sure, you can. But I know you’ll get overwhelmed by the chaos that is definitely happening in there and you’ll retreat to a quiet corner.” He leans in close enough to me that I can smell his subtle cologne and shoves his hand deep into the tote, pulling my Kindle out in one fast swipe.

“Don’t you firefighters take obeying the law seriously?” I snark at him. “Seems to me you’re stealing my possessions and my lifeline.”

“Sue me. Hell, march downtown and file a report with any cop there. Good luck getting them to pursue it. I think they have much bigger fish to fry than me holding onto your electronics while we are at a social gathering. Don’t you think?”

“Grrr,” I growl at him before stomping off toward the gate with him on my heels. Before I can even acknowledge what is happening, he’s caught up to me and has me caged between him and the gate. I work hard to steady my breath, refusing to let him see how his closeness affects me. I feel his hand slide into the back pocket of my overalls. As quick as it’s there, it’s gone, along with my cell phone. The backup to my backup plan.

“I told you, Leni, I know you. You can have this with your Kindle app back on the way home!” he yells out to me as I let the gate behind me slam in front of him.

With a huff, I turn, open the gate, and storm angrily through it. Caught in a fit of laughter, he stands there watching me leave him behind. With the loud sound of the metal gate slamming behind me mixed with the booming laughter coming from Griffin, the party seems to come to a complete standstill.

Great . . . everyone is looking my way and my first instinct is to turn and run. But to prove to him I can do this, I stand tall, throw my long red hair over my shoulder, and march myself over to Shelby.

REVIEW:

I love Miranda Elaine’s sweet, sultry storytelling style! Her writing is thoughtful and deliberate, and she never fails to pull me into her stories. Engaging plots come together in polished, perfectly paced, wholly addictive stories full of heart, heat and humor.

A delicious, slow-burning romance, Overdue pairs firefighter, Griffin, and his childhood best friend, town librarian, Leni. It was a light-hearted, easy-reading best-friends-to-lovers romance, and it wasn’t overly angsty, but the heroine had some major emotional baggage that held her back. Miranda has a great sense of humor that she used liberally throughout this story giving it a playful feel. Griffin was a swoon-worthy hero, but he was also a really great guy. He was Leni’s rock, her person, and the two of them had spent years pushing aside their true feelings in favor of protecting their special, one-of-a-kind friendship. When those feelings finally bubble to the surface and become impossible to ignore, it’s Griffin who gently and patiently guides them through it. Miranda always peppers interesting side characters in her stories, and she definitely added some wonderful ones here in Leni’s grandmother and her neighbor, Parker, whose book I’m already looking forward to.

Once again, Miranda Elaine has left me fully entertained and thoroughly impressed with her writing. Overdue was a sexy and heartwarming story brimming with humor and endearing characters. This heartstring-tugging, heat-filled romance full of charming characters kept me smiling from cover-to-cover. I positively devoured this book, and I was not only left wanting more but also very excited about what will come next from Miranda. Five smooches from me for Overdue by Miranda Elaine!

by Lani Lynn Vale

Release Date: October 13, 2020

Going from a professional baseball player to a SWAT officer should’ve been seamless. Should have been.

But it wasn’t.

All it took was one single calendar shoot for word to spread that Nathan Cox was not only no longer playing professional baseball, but he was also the man behind saving the life of Reggie Morton, the City of Kilgore’s princess.

***

Reggie didn’t know that by agreeing to provide the expertise and the know-how for the Police Officer’s Ball that she would be required to actually attend the function.

What she also didn’t expect was needing to be saved—again—by the same man that had saved her life a year ago when she hosted her debut event.

This time in a not-nearly-as-spectacular way. The moment she falls into his arms like a modern-day Cinderella and takes him in in all his three-piece suited glory, she realizes that she’s been fighting the impossible.

Single Dad Seeks Juliet by Max Monroe Release Blitz

SINGLE DAD SEEKS JULIET, an all-new laugh out loud rom com from New York Times bestselling author, Max Monroe, is available now!

Dear Internet: Am I a horrible person for wanting to sabotage my work assignment—completely wreck a dating contest—because I hate the idea of love?

I know it sounds bad, but just hear me out, okay?

I (33F) work at a local paper, and two months ago, my editor assigned me a huge project—run the upcoming, highly anticipated Bachelor Anonymous contest.

In essence, I’m supposed to help a reader-nominated bachelor find his special someone, and while I should be excited to handle something of this magnitude solo, I can’t help but get queasy over how gross it feels.

Like, how cheesy could this thing get?

Not to mention, I’m the last person who should be involved in this—my dating and relationship history is a cluster. Generally, the person in charge of these things shouldn’t fantasize about lighting the whole three-ring dating circus on fire.

Anyway, men from all over Southern California, vying for the coveted bachelor role, submitted their personal ads to my paper. The readers voted, and Single Dad Seeks Juliet won by a landslide.

Enter Mr. Bachelor Anonymous (40M), the single dad Romeo seeking his Juliet.

Blah, blah, blah, right? Wrong.

You guys—and I cannot stress this enough—this guy is the ultimate man in a six-foot-three, chiseled-muscle, freaking Adonis package with aquamarine eyes that would haunt the dreams of an insomniac.

He’s a former Navy SEAL, successful business owner, motocross-riding, charming, supportive, funny-as-heck single dad, and the more time I spend with him, the more I want to bring this contest thing crumbling to the ground for an entirely different reason.

Real talk: I think I’m falling for him.

Me, the woman who despises love, might be falling for the completely off-limits Bachelor who I’m ironically assigned to help find love, while five other women think they’re the only contestants competing for his heart.

So, Internet. Am I scum? Or is all fair in love and war?

REVIEW:

The Boyfriend Effect launches Kendall Ryan’s new Frisky Business series about five male friends who co-own a sex toy business together. She kicked off this series with a completely addictive best-friend’s-sister, friends-to-lovers romance. I’m definitely a fan of Kendall Ryan’s writing, especially in her sassy, sexy, easy-reading contemporaries and romcoms. The Boyfriend Effect was all of that, and it was bubbling with heat, heart and humor, and it had just enough angsty emotion to keep me tapping my Kindle.

In addition to being his childhood best friend’s little sister, Maren and Hayes had a close, long-standing friendship of their own. I really loved the comfortable, easy relationship between them, and they definitely had the banter thing down, likely the product of their twenty-plus years of friendship. Maren has buried her long-held feelings for Hayes, and unbeknownst to her, he’s been doing the same. Hayes was the serial monogamist of the group, but he also had a bit of a reputation for his disastrous relationships. The truth is he’s a great guy, one who really wants a partner, but he believes he’s a terrible boyfriend because for some reason, his relationships never seem to work out. Maren, a social worker in a retirement community, is so sweet, but she’s harboring a serious crush on Hayes and working overtime to hide it. When she needs a bit of help with a work project, Hayes doesn’t hesitate to step in, and they find themselves spending more time together one-on-one than ever. The sparks fly, and it isn’t long before they give in to the chemistry buzzing between them.

The Boyfriend Effect was a great start to a fun new series from Kendall Ryan. The side characters were awesome, and I’m really looking forward to their stories. I adored Hayes’s smart-as-a-whip grandmother, Rosie, and her cute romance with the grumpy Don was a sweet little unexpected bonus. A swoon-worthy hero and a heroine I really wanted to see land her guy, Hayes and Maren’s irresistibly sexy, forbidden romance pulled me right in, and I devoured it in a day. The Boyfriend Effect by Kendall Ryan gets 4.5 smooches from me!
