REVIEW:

I’m just going to come out and say it: I love smut, and one of my favorite guilty pleasure pastimes is escaping into the pages of quick and dirty little insta-love stories. Amie Knight and Miranda Elaine’s second co-written novella, Miss Understood, hits that nail on the head, and I’m officially a fan! Having read many of these types of stories, I can admit that there is sometimes a bit of redundancy in this trope. The thing that sets this duo apart, though, is their wild sense of humor, and let me tell you, these two are seriously funny.

Typically these types of stories are all about the bad-boy alpha-male and his quest to land the virginal good girl of his dreams, and that’s all fine and good. But Amie and Miranda turn that notion right on its head with a squeaky-clean, good-guy cop and a sassy, naughty girl. Tillie may put up a wall of attitude as high as the fence around the prison she could very well end up in, but Nate sees right through it to the kind-hearted, slightly lost, in-over-her-head girl underneath. Despite her bad girl rep, though, Tillie is really just trying to protect Nate, and her twin, Millie, from the mess of trouble that swirls around her.

Nate’s been patient, he’s given Tillie time to get herself together, but he’s done waiting. He’s going to use whatever means necessary, including his handcuffs, to corral his girl and clean up her mess so they can finally be together. Individually the Coletrain twins are handful, but the two together fill poor Nate’s hands to overflowing when they decide to handle matters on their own. Add in a biker looking to collect what he’s owed and the twins’ best friend—who is definitely not the voice of reason—and not even back up in the form of Millie’s bail bondsman boyfriend, Jake, can level the playing field in Nate’s favor.

Jam packed with hilarious antics, wickedly witty banter and enough steam to power a sauna, Miss Understood was an amusing and sexy pleasure to read with a sweet surprise twist that I wasn’t expecting! I demolished this one, loving every single word of it! Five smooches from me for Miss Understood by Amie Knight and Miranda Elaine!

REVIEW:

There’s a couple of things I know for sure. For example, I know that if my house were on fire, I’d be grabbing my Kindle on the way out. Another thing I’m certain of is that when I need a sweet and sexy romance to make me feel good, I can count on Lauren Blakely to provide it.

Thanks For Last Night, Blakely’s new standalone romance within The Guys Who Got Away series, features a positively enchanting friends-to-lovers romance. Pro-hockey player, Ransom, and his gal pal, Teagan, both have their own relationship baggage, but their friendship is solid.  Aside from sharing a close-knit group of paired-up friends and being the last two singles of their group, Ransom and Teagan also share an easy, effortless friendship. Inside jokes and common interests aside, they genuinely enjoy each other’s company, and they have natural connection that often shows itself in their witty back-and-forth bantering. So, when Ransom needs a favor, he calls on Teagan, and in doing so, the long-buried lust between them bubbles to the surface.

The chemistry between this couple was absolutely electric. The pent up need and desire they both harbored for each other was undeniable, and Blakely managed to completely steal my breath with the way she communicated those feelings. Both Teagan and Ransom have some relationship baggage that makes risking the friendship they share—as well as the friendship of the others in group—a scary prospect for both of them. But that genie is out of the bottle, and with all their friends pushing them together, the impossible starts to feel a lot more like the inevitable.

Friends-to-lovers is one of my top favorite tropes, and I always seem to connect to these types of stories, probably because I’m living my own friends-to-lovers happily ever after. Blakely never disappoints with this type of story, and she delivered a wonderful, full-circle kind of romance in Thanks For Last Night. It was light-hearted, romantic and rich in the kind of heart-tugging emotion that doesn’t tip the scales into angsty. A sizzling attraction couples with a firm foundation of friendship and an effortless connection into an unputdownable story that kept me glued to my Kindle. I loved every single word, step and minute of this story. Lauren Blakely’s Thanks For Last Night gets five smooches from me!

Single Dad Seeks Juliet by Max Monroe Cover Reveal

SINGLE DAD SEEKS JULIET, an all new fun, sexy and hilarious rom com from New York Times bestselling author Max Monroe coming October 13th and I have the amazing cover!

Dear Internet: Am I a horrible person for wanting to sabotage my work assignment—completely wreck a dating contest—because I hate the idea of love?

I know it sounds bad, but just hear me out, okay?

I (33F) work at a local paper, and two months ago, my editor assigned me a huge project—run the upcoming, highly anticipated Bachelor Anonymous contest.

In essence, I’m supposed to help a reader-nominated bachelor find his special someone, and while I should be excited to handle something of this magnitude solo, I can’t help but get queasy over how gross it feels.

Like, how cheesy could this thing get?

Not to mention, I’m the last person who should be involved in this—my dating and relationship history is a cluster. Generally, the person in charge of these things shouldn’t fantasize about lighting the whole three-ring dating circus on fire.

Anyway, men from all over Southern California, vying for the coveted bachelor role, submitted their personal ads to my paper. The readers voted, and Single Dad Seeks Juliet won by a landslide.

Enter Mr. Bachelor Anonymous (40M), the single dad Romeo seeking his Juliet.

Blah, blah, blah, right? Wrong.

You guys—and I cannot stress this enough—this guy is the ultimate man in a six-foot-three, chiseled-muscle, freaking Adonis package with aquamarine eyes that would haunt the dreams of an insomniac.

He’s a former Navy SEAL, successful business owner, motocross-riding, charming, supportive, funny-as-heck single dad, and the more time I spend with him, the more I want to bring this contest thing crumbling to the ground for an entirely different reason.

Real talk: I think I’m falling for him.

Me, the woman who despises love, might be falling for the completely off-limits Bachelor who I’m ironically assigned to help find love, while five other women think they’re the only contestants competing for his heart.

So, Internet. Am I scum? Or is all fair in love and war?

Double Dog Dare You by Lacey Black Review

4.5 SMOOCHES!

* * * * * * * * * *

SYNOPSIS:

Quinn

One simple text message can change everything. I found that out the hard way. One minute I’m complaining about a horrible picture of a guy’s you-know-what, and the next, I’m having conversations with a stranger. A gorgeous, rebel of a man who makes my heart skip a beat and does a number on my panties.

The only problem is we’re not looking for the same things in life. I want stability and a family, while he always has his eye out for the next good time.

Royce

She may literally be the most beautiful woman I’ve ever met. Funny, it all started with an accidental text message. About unwanted male member photos, actually, and from that moment, I was hooked. She’s the perfect woman really, except for one tiny little flaw. She’s looking for the one thing that makes me want to run for the door. Forever.

Yet, somehow, I can’t seem to let her go. She might be the one dare I actually fail.

* * * * * * * * * *

REVIEW:

Lacey Black’s Double Dog Dare You was so much fun! A text message gone awry, turns a case of mistaken identity into a sweet and sexy strangers-to-lovers romance. Royce Rigsby isn’t looking to be anyone’s Mr. Right—he’s more of a Mr. Right Now kind of guy. After spending twelve years in the Army, Rigsby settled in Gatlinburg to be close to his mother and brother, and he’s the manager of a ziplining company in this bustling tourist town. Quinn Michaels, a private school principal, isn’t having the best luck in the dating pool if her last date is anything to go by. But her luck might be changing after a text meant for her best friend lands on Rigsby’s phone instead, and the sparks start to fly.

Rigsby and Quinn’s relationship felt a lot like fate, and I really enjoyed the feeling of serendipity around them. They kept popping up in each other’s lives, and the natural bantering both by text and in person made for an easy, organic connection between them. I loved how Rigsby challenged Quinn, and my heart soared happily as Rigsby realizes his feelings are more than simple lust.

Witty and full of charm, Double Dog Dare You by Lacey Black was a feel-good romantic comedy that kept me smiling, swooning and swiping the pages of my Kindle. I was rooting for Rigsby and Quinn from the first page, and I devoured their love story in a single sitting. Black delivers another winner with endearing characters, a light-hearted, sexy romance, and a satisfying blend of heartfelt emotion and humor. Lacey Black’s Double Dog Dare You gets 4.5 smooches from me!

I’ve fallen victim to a heinous act.

Ready? Here it goes . . .

I’ve recently become the pawn of a meddling mom.

Yes . . . A MEDDLING MOM–who’s been trying to set me up all summer.

Now, I understand it’s not a crime for a mother to want her child to fall in love, but when she makes it her relentless MISSION, the heinous act should be classified as a misdemeanor at least.

Of course, my mom, the evil matriarch in the devil’s leggings, made her final stab at finding a girl for me days before I went back to college.

And I hate to admit it, but she saved a doozy for last.

A titan in black skinny jeans.

A boss of nonchalance.

And a girl who would not only turn my life upside down, but do it while juggling a soccer ball, looking effortlessly gorgeous around campus, and is one hundred percent against relationships. Of any sort.

EXCERPT:

Prologue:
**LINCOLN**

I’ve fallen victim to a heinous act.

An act so vile, so downright dirty, that I’m not sure . . .

as a son,

as a member of society,

as a twenty-year-old man . . . I will ever recover.

Ever.

I see the concern in your eyes, your hand wandering up your chest to clutch the collar of your sensible cotton shirt, scared to find out the truth.

Brace yourself against something sturdy, because what I’m about to tell you might just knock you back on your ass in horror.

*Deep breaths, everyone*

I’ve recently become the pawn of a meddling mom.

Yup, you read that right. A MEDDLING mom.

The bane of a son’s existence.

I know what you’re wondering . . . what did she do? Make me pick up my socks during summer break?

*Eye-rolling*

*Woe is you*

*Grow up*

You grow up!

Ehhh, that was a little harsh. But before you go and put your judgy face on, you need to know the difference between a nagging mom and a meddling mom.

A nagging mom is one who storms into the living room while you’re trying to watch the series finale of Game of Thrones, complaining about the dishes in the sink you swore you’d take care of once you found out who took the throne.

Nag, nag, nag—part of the daily routine of the person who birthed you, or in this case, one of two moms who adopted me.

But a meddling mom, oh boy. They’re a fresh kind of hell wrapped up in high-waisted leggings and muted tunics. This isn’t some everyday mom who texts you GIFs of squirrels playing with a hula hoop. Nope, meddling moms have an agenda.

An agenda that they believe benefits their children. But it really benefits them . . . and only them.

In this case, my mom’s agenda: get Lincoln to fall in love.

I understand it’s not a crime for a mother to want her child to fall in love, but let me tell you. When she makes it her mission when you’re home from college, it should be classified as a misdemeanor.

That’s right, all freaking summer, my mom has made it her duty to set me up with girl after girl, all of whom she’s met in our hometown Kalamazoo, Michigan. I’d like to say I’m exaggerating that she made a list and set me up with every eligible girl—one by one—but I’m not.

I saw the Excel spreadsheet on her computer.

Girls who were highlighted in red were a no-go.

Girls in green still had a fighting chance.

Girls in yellow? Apparently, I had lukewarm interaction with them, but they showed promise.

Why is she so desperate for me to fall head over heels?

Can you believe she’s been spending time on the Internet, researching relationship statuses of major league baseball players? Well, she has. Too much time. And she said she didn’t want me to end up forty, about to retire, with nothing to say for my life other than that I was able to throw a ball off a mound.

She also wants a girl to fawn over.

When my mothers were adopting, Mom hoped for a girl, but Mama hoped for a boy. Don’t get me wrong, my mom loves me more than anything—hence the meddling and nagging—but she always wanted to do girly things with me, like have tea parties, get our toenails done, shit like that.

Side note: I’ve done the pedicure thing with her, and it’s not that bad.

But she wants a daughter, and apparently, a daughter-in-law is the next best thing.

Which brings me back to my summer of “not love.” I wanted nothing to do with these girls and after my mom’s eighth attempt to set me up—yes, eight—I told her enough was enough. I was done.

And thankfully she listened . . . until the last Saturday before I left for school.

The evil matriarch in the devil’s leggings made her final stab at finding a girl for me.

And I hate to admit it, but she saved a doozy for last.

A fucking titan in black skinny jeans.

A boss of nonchalance.

And a girl who will not only turn my life upside down, but do it while juggling a soccer ball, looking effortlessly gorgeous, and is one hundred percent against relationships. Of any sort.

Thanks, Mom.

*Thumbs up*

Your meddling has made me absolutely miserable.

REVIEW:

I absolutely adore Meghan Quinn’s addictively engaging writing style, and I can’t get enough of it. She drags me right into her stories with plots that are positively bursting with her fantastic sense of humor, passionate romances and gut-wrenching punches of emotion that always catch me by surprise—even though I know full well they are coming.

The Setup, a new adult sports romance, features two juniors in college, Indie, the soccer player, and Lincoln, the baseball player. Indie is a quick-witted and ballsy girl whose moves, on and off the field, catch Lincoln’s attention. A talented pitcher who was drafted in the first round, Lincoln was gearing up to leave college before his senior year to start his pro-ball career with a stint in the minor leaguer when he met Indie. With an expiration date looming on the horizon, they still managed to have one heck of a great year together, bonding over everything and forming a deep connection. Quinn is a gifted storyteller, but that gift is especially obvious in her friends-to-lovers romances. Nowhere is that more evident than in the banter between her characters. Indie and Lincoln’s banter game was completely on point, natural and effervescent. This particular element of their relationship was not only the glue between them, but it also illustrated the organic evolution of this couple’s relationship from friendship to romance. Make no mistake, the attraction between Indie and Lincoln was always intense, and that slow-burning heat just burned hotter as time wore on.

As is always the way with Quinn’s books, I knew it was coming—I knew it. I was sitting there, in my happy space, devouring a great story, totally caught up in it, visions of happily-ever-after dancing in my head when it happened. Meghan Quinn and her emotional sneak attacks…she just has this way of dishing out powerful emotions when a reader least expects it! Like I said, I knew it was coming, but even despite that she still managed to obliterate me completely with a devastating blow of feelings.

The Setup was a slow-burning, friends-to-lovers story with all the feels—all of them, every single one. I do not know exactly how she does it, but somehow Meghan Quinn managed to write a story that was charming yet emotionally devastating. My hopeful little happily-ever-after loving heart raced in anticipation, ached with pain, yet finished the story blissfully soaring—and I loved every single beat of it. The Setup by Meghan Quinn gets five smooches from me!
