REVIEW:

Fans of M/M romance need to brace for Limited Edition Husband by Lauren Blakely writing as L. Blakely. All of Blakely’s work is incredible, but the care she takes with her plotting, the romance build-up and character development in her M/M romances is evident on every single page, and she penned a not-to-be-missed, must-read masterpiece for lovers of the genre in this story. She employs the fake-marriage trope creatively in this contemporary sports romance between American football player, Nate Chandler, and newly out Brit, Hunter Coburn. I listened to the audiobook, and Teddy Hamilton, one of my favorite narrators, positively nailed his performance of the virile yet vulnerable, Nate. James Joseph is a new-to-me narrator, and he completely captured the charm of Hunter’s effervescence and innocence in his portrayal of him. The natural chemistry between these two narrators breathed life into Nate and Hunter, and coupled with Blakely’s addictive writing style and an engaging storyline, I was hooked from start-to-finish.

As is often the case, what happens in Vegas doesn’t always stay there. Following a drunken night on the town, the Brit and the baller wake up in a bit of a predicament when they realize their one-night-stand didn’t turn out the way they planned. They got married, and things only become more complicated from there. The plot takes a twisting, turning, smoking hot journey as they navigate through the challenges of their fake relationship. Nate, still recovering from his ex’s betrayal and the end of his marriage, struggles as this fake relationship with Hunter starts to feel pretty real. Hunter—who’s going through trial by fire with the number of first-times he’s experiencing—is a ray of sunshine in their storm with his upbeat, positive personality, which is a breath of fresh air for Nate.

Blakely masterfully weaves the story of Nate and Hunter’s romance in Limited Edition Husband. From their adorable meet-cute—involving some well-placed pie—to the frantic, frenzied realization that they’re married and the passionate, emotional build-up of their fake relationship as it turns into something very real. Endearing characters, an entertaining plot and a steamy love story combine brilliantly to make this one of her most addictive M/M romances to date. Funny, fiery and full of feels, Limited Edition Husband is a stand-out in Blakely’s extensive catalog, and it’s landed on my list of top-favorite reads for the year. REVIEW:

I absolutely loved Accidental Attachment by Max Monroe! This romantic comedy had me laughing out loud from the very beginning, and I didn’t put it down until I finished it. The characters were so well-developed and had such great chemistry, making their story feel real and believable. The plot was cleverly crafted, and full of the laugh-out-loud humor I’ve come to expect from Max Monroe.

I loved the witty and humorous banter between Brooke and Chase. The slow burn build-up of their relationship was so sexy and worth every single heart-palpitating second. Their interactions were hilarious, and made for some truly unforgettable moments. This was such a light-hearted and fun romcom—the perfect mix of heart, heat and humor. Accidental Attachment by Max Monroe gets 4.5 smooches from me!

The Hollywood Marriage Bargain was another light-hearted, sexy and entertaining romantic comedy from Lila Monroe! This second-chance romance features a newly single Tessa back in her grandparents’ home town to renovate their B&B. Jackson is in town filming a movie—and trying to rekindle the magic of their romance from ten years ago. The chemistry between Jackson and Tessa was palpable and their banter was witty and fun. Lila’s writing style is engaging and flows well, making for a quick and enjoyable read.

The plot is well-paced and keeps the reader hooked throughout the book. The movie set background created a fun and interesting backdrop, and I loved the glimpses into the relationship pitfalls between an A list actor and a non-celebrity. An amusing plot and a sexy, sweet, swoon-worthy romance about a couple I was pulling for from the start made this an addictive, fun-to-read romance that kept me smiling the whole way through. Once he cranked the ignition, the sound of the engine made it impossible to hear anything else. Knowing him, he probably kept it noisy in order to ward off all chance of conversation.

We drove across town and outside of the city limits to a neighborhood I wasn’t familiar with.

“You know, I could save you the trouble of murdering me and burying the body by simply resigning.” I had to shout for him to hear me over the motor and road noise.

I’d meant it as a joke, but his eyes went wide, and he muttered what sounded like “Jesus” in response. “You’re not quitting your job. And I’m not killing you.”

“There’s a relief. I might not appear strong, but I’d put up a hell of a fight, make lots of noise, and end up making a big old mess on your cloth seats. Blood stains are impossible to get out.”

He shook his head, but at least I had his lips twitching.

Today he wore a dress shirt since he’d come from a sales meeting earlier. With his sleeves rolled up, showing off the tattoos on both his forearms, he made me hyper aware of his presence and how close we were to each other in the truck’s cab. I wasn’t typically a fan of long hair on a man, but the way Leo wore his tied back was incredibly sexy.

Good thing I’d rejoined the world of online dating. My date Friday night would serve as a distraction, so I could quit the imaginary dry humping of my boss’s boss.

After driving a few more minutes, he pulled into the lot of a strip mall. One of the stores was decorated with Christmas trees in the window and a sign which said, “A Christmas Story.”

“What is this?”

He cut the engine and turned toward me. “This is an apology. We’ll go in, and you can select all the decorations you want to spiff up the office and warehouse for Christmas. I shouldn’t have said what I did. Truth is, most of the guys who work at Delta missed holidays while deployed overseas and away from their families. So having some cheer in the office is a good thing. I’m sorry I’ve been grumpy about it. Or questioned you about doing real work. Dominic told me everything you’ve been doing with the new hire orientations, the website, and the new software. I should’ve been more appreciative, and I’m sorry.”

Dang. Leonardo Chambers gave one sincere apology. Still, the burning question had to be asked. “Why are you grumpy about it?”

“Just how I am about most things. But my moods shouldn’t dampen your enthusiasm. In only a few weeks, I’ve noticed morale way up and my employees happier than I’ve ever seen. You’ve done a great job, Addison.”

Oh, man, my eyes started to get misty. My last boss had never given compliments, and my parents were scarce with them too.

His expression showed impending panic. “I swear if you cry, I’ll take back anything nice I’ve ever said.”

“What, all two things?” I quipped, his distraction doing the trick of returning my composure.

He rubbed his chin. “Damn, that was one more nice thing than intended. I’ll have to be more judicious next time.”

Now I did smile. “Maybe, like, once a year?”

His lips curved up. “Deal, but if you tell anyone, then the whole murder plot idea is back on the table.”
