Review

When I read the blurb for this book, I honestly wasn’t sure what to expect. It intrigued me, and being a voracious reader of the romance genre, I guess I was thinking that this would be a hard fought battle of the hearts. That the hero of this book would win over his heroine, in true romantic fashion, and off they’d go into the land of happily ever afters, albeit the insanely rich land of HEAs, but still.

Everyone wanted Cedar Reynolds. Everyone wished they were her.”

Perfect. That one word sums up Cedar Reynolds with exquisite accuracy. Her finely honed persona was one crafted painstakingly by Cedar herself and designed to feed and maintain her image as the most feared, respected, envied and admired woman within New York City’s high society scene and beyond. This image was one that Cedar protected ruthlessly, exactingly. Controlling absolutely everything and everyone that even remotely touched her, her precisely managed life or her coveted professional standing, she was always planning and plotting her next move and several moves beyond. Everything, absolutely everything served a purpose. Every word she said, every expression on her face, every move she made was calculated to her advantage or to serve a future purpose. EVERYTHING.

When you’re New York City’s reigning queen, you never walk around with a hair out of place, with a nail chipped, or God forbid, in last season’s clothing.”

Cedar Reynolds was orphaned at the tender age of 18, losing her parents, darlings of the New York City societal pages, in a most horrific way, leaving her to be taken in by a close family friend, multi-billionaire, Harold Feingold. It was Harold who groomed Cedar into the strong, confident and precise woman she was today. Acting as her mentor, Cedar was the closest thing to a confidante that the elusive billionaire had, but even she did not know all of his secrets.

He was perfect. Absolutely perfect.”

Ellis Carrington was orphaned at the age of 5 and the product of the foster care system. Having just completed grad school with his master’s degree two weeks prior to the death of Harold Feingold, he was taken completely by surprise when Mr. Feingold’s attorney pays him an unannounced visit two days after the funeral and delivers some life altering news. Thus begins Ellis’ plunge into the spotlight, into unimaginable wealth, into a life he never dreamed of because it was so unfathomable.

As the heir to Feingold’s empire and as his protégé and quasi-confidante, Ellis and Cedar are thrust together. Cedar sees Ellis’ discomfort, his struggle to find his place, and offers to help him. She proposes mentoring sessions, a crash course on the rich and famous lifestyle, so to speak, and Ellis, completely smitten with and dazzled by Cedar, as well as in desperate need of a friend he can trust just as much as he is in need of the guidance she offers, gratefully accepts her offer.

And so begins the whirlwind romance of Ellis Carrington and Cedar Reynolds…

Everything was calculated. Everything was always calculated.”

Through most of this book, I felt as if I was reading the New York high society version of Mean Girls. This is a dark, twisted, off-the-charts mind-fuck of a tale that absolutely left me wanting a more. The author delivered a devious, wicked, evil story and she did it brilliantly. It left me scratching my head; it left me questioning everything that I had just read; and it left me sitting there with my mouth gaping open and an audible “What the hell?!” bursting from it.

This isn’t a story that you enjoy, this is one that you experience, and that experience for me is definitely worth the 4.5 smooches I’m giving it.

Hard Ink Series Trailer:

About HARD TO LET GO:

Beckett Murda hates to dwell on the past. But his investigation into the ambush that killed half his Special Forces team and ended his Army career gives him little choice. Just when his team learns how powerful their enemies are, hard-ass Beckett encounters his biggest complication yet—a seductive, feisty Katherine Rixey.

A tough, stubborn prosecutor, Kat visits her brothers’ Hard Ink Tattoo shop following a bad break-up—and finds herself staring down the barrel of a stranger’s gun. Beckett is hard-bodied and sexy as hell, but he’s also the most infuriating man ever. Worse, Kat’s brothers are at war with the criminals her office is investigating. When Kat joins the fight, she lands straight in Beckett’s sights . . . and in his arms. Not to mention their enemies’ crosshairs.

Now Beckett and Kat must set aside their differences to work together, because the only thing sweeter than justice is finding love and never letting go.

HARD TO LET GO Excerpt:

Kat pushed Beckett so that his back rested against the couch as she straddled his lap. She cupped his face in her hands and got up close, her breasts against his chest, her forehead nearly touching his, her soft hair forming a curtain around them. Beckett’s heart beat like a bass drum. She kissed him.

A soft brush of skin on skin at first, and then a nibbling tug at his bottom lip that made his cock jerk where she sat on him. “I care if you live or die, Beckett. I care, a lot.”

He swallowed hard as that odd, warm pressure filled his chest again. “Why?” he asked, meeting those too-perceptive jade eyes.

“You really need me to spell it out?”

He really fucking did. Beckett nodded.

Kat kissed him. “Because you’re loyal, protective, and taking time away from your life to help my brother.” Another kiss. Beckett’s hands grasped her hips. “Because you’re smart, strategic, and a genius when it comes to gadgets and fixing things.” Kiss. “Because you keep trying to get Cy to let you pet him.” Kiss. “Because you’re gorgeous and sexy as hell.” Longer kiss. “And you fuck like a god.” Much longer, wetter, hotter kiss. “And because you called me ‘Angel.’”

Chest full, throat tight, heart pounding, Beckett kissed Kat on a groan, his thoughts struggling to process—to believe—that someone as beautiful and bright and together as Katherine Rixey could see all that in him when he couldn’t see most of it in himself. Hell, not even his parents had seen it.

Her arms wrapped around his neck and she sucked his tongue deep into her mouth, and Beckett was hard and aching and overwhelmed and more in need of being wanted than at any other moment in his life. And Kat gave that to him in spades. With her kisses. With her touch. With her desperate moans and grinding hips and pleading words. “I want you, Beckett. If we’re here for the night, I want you in me as deep and as hard and as often as you can. For just tonight, I don’t want to think about anything else but you.”

“Jesus, Kat,” he rasped, banding his arms around her back and pinning her to him. He devoured her mouth, sucked on her neck, bit the soft tendon that led to her shoulder. “I want that, too. But not here.”

“Why?” she moaned as his hands kneaded at her ass.

It was the silver lining in the cloud of being stuck here overnight. “Because for once, I finally have you all to myself with no need to hurry. I’m taking you to your bed, stripping you down, and spreading you out just like I said I would.”

Secured: free from risk of loss, safe; not likely to fail or give way, stable; to guard from danger.

This pull in my chest, the tug of my beating heart, is stronger than it’s ever been. No one could ever compare to Avery. Everything about her makes me only want to experience more, the good and the bad. I’ll take whatever I can get because, as I’ve known from the very beginning, my heart belongs to her.

Why can’t she see it?

My beautiful angel, so filled with doubt and worry. I can feel her fears, but for once in my life, I feel helpless. There’s nothing that I can do that convinces her, nothing that speaks to her. Why can’t she see that she’s more than anything I ever dreamed of, that she’s perfect for me? This is enough.

Doesn’t she see?

I’ve only ever wanted her.

***

My heart races in my chest, pounding out a rhythm all its own. There’s adrenaline pumping all through my veins. It’s surging into my system and making me a nervous wreck.

I’ve waited forever to see my SEAL again. The wait is over, but I’m filled with doubts. Insecurities are hounding me left and right, plaguing me at every turn.

What if I’m not what he remembers, not good enough?

Our time spent in each other’s presence was less than a month. One month isn’t nearly enough time to get to know a person, is it? My head says no, but my heart screams that I know Kreed Jones better than I know myself. He’s spent eighteen long months convincing me of his love, growing my love for him with every letter, every phone call, but is it really enough?

What do we do now that he’s back?

I can’t be a Navy wife. I’m not strong enough, but how can I ask this selfless man to give up a dream, for me? He’s so hard to read. I just want to know where we are heading, what he’s thinking, am I still enough.

Am I still enough?

Tethered: the utmost length to which one can go; a range of allowable behavior; at the end of one’s tether, i.e. at the end of one’s patience or strength.

It’s been two miserable months since I last set my eyes on her gorgeous face, seven months since I’ve heard her voice. Hearing it now, coming from those sweet lips, God, it makes me regret everything, as if I didn’t already.

As if I don’t torture myself for the mistakes I made. Damn it, if I could only take them back! There’s nothing in this world that I wouldn’t give to take them back, to undo the hurt I’ve caused Drew.

As if I could ever forgive myself for the pain.

As if I haven’t spent every single second of my miserable fucking life missing those gorgeous, blue eyes looking at me like I’m a damned god, something to be valued and loved.

I think that’s what I miss the most.

My bright eyes.

***

That face! God, Trevor Rossi haunts my dreams, my every waking second. I see him in strangers in a crowd, in the park, in the supermarket. It’s been so long, a lifetime it seems, but not nearly long enough to forget. I’m not sure an eternity will make me forget the way he made me feel, cherished…adored. There’s nothing in this world that I want more than him. Even now, my entire being is always drawn to that man like a compass to true north, but…

He hurt me.

He didn’t fight for me. Through all the tears and anguish, the singular thing that destroys my soul is that he never even tried. Was giving up on us really so simple for him? After everything we had accomplished, how far we came, was it just a matter of walking away?

He ripped my already broken heart into a thousand shreds, stomping them against the hardwood of the club.

Despite all the wrenching pain, I want him.

My broken love.

synopsis1

Sealed: to conclude, establish, or settle definitively, excluding the possibility of reversal or loss; to decide irrevocably.

I’m leaving the naive, little girl version of myself behind in Pilot’s Point, and good riddance to her. Here, I can be whoever I want, a whole new Avery far removed from the drama of that former self. This one isn’t going to be afraid to take risks and go out on a limb or two. I’m done living in a self-proscribed bubble, always scared of the consequences of a poor decision.

There’s so many new experiences in Baltimore, new people, new places. I’m entranced by everything here from the snow to the men. There is no shortage of hot guys in Baltimore. They say everything is bigger and better in Texas, but I must beg to disagree.

From the moment Kreed Jones touched his soft lips to my hand, his mouth is the only thing my brain wants to concentrate on. Those sweet lips that refused to kiss mine, refused to take advantage, God, I want them. I want them so badly, but…

Trevor Rossi is sexy as sin, and boy, does he ever know! He’s gorgeous; that’s a given. The playboy lifestyle he exudes calls to me, drawing me near the flame. I know I’ll get burned, but would the end be worth one night in his arms? I am uncertain, still firmly on the fence, and after running into my professor, I’m even more confused.

Dr. James Saunders…James, as he insists…is handsome in his tailored suit, and the beautiful soul that shines behind those glasses of his, well, it’s a temptation, for certain. He’s off limits, and I think that’s the appeal. It’s wrong, oh so very, very, wrong. I just can’t seem to convince my mind of it.

These three men keep looking at me like I’m a prize, not the game, and for the first time in my life, I’m free of me. I’m not standing in my way, not anymore.

Tangled Bond by Emma Hart Cover Reveal

We are very excited to share the cover for Tangled Bond book 2 in the Holly Wood files series. Tangled Bond will be releasing
on July 30.

TangledBond-final-ebooklgOne date with the sexier-than-sin Detective Drake Nash. Simple.

Until you take into account that my brother finally proposed to his girlfriend, so Nonna is on a warpath—and the crazy old bat has Cupid by the balls.

The upcoming mayoral elections has everyone running on full speed, and while I couldn’t give any less craps about the corrupt Holly Woods mayor’s office, a dead body in the middle of a campaign speech has me thrown right into the middle of it. The victim is close to the mayor, but all he cares about is minimizing the damage to his campaign, so he hires me to work alongside Drake to close the case as quickly as possible.

Bad news for our tentative relationship.

We disagree far more than we agree, but being at loggerheads won’t get this murder solved… Or deal with the arrival of someone from his past.

The mysteries behind the murder aren’t the only things unraveling, and despite being knee-deep in lies and corruption and bonds so tangled they’re almost indecipherable, I have to figure out if I’m willing to fight for Drake the way I do justice…

Or if he’ll be my one who gets away.

ADD TO GOODREADS

Photograph cheating spouses. Hand over the evidence. Cash my check.
That was my plan when I returned home to Holly Woods, Texas, and became a private investigator.
Finding the dead body in my dumpster? Yeah… Given the choice, I think I would have opted out of that little discovery, especially since all three of my brothers are cops. And my Italian grandmother is sure the reason I’m single is because of my job.
Of course, my connection to the victim is entirely coincidental. Until I’m hired by her husband to investigate her murder and shoved bang-smack into the path of Detective Drake Nash.
My nemesis, a persistent pain in my ass, and one hell of a sexy son of a bitch.
Shame he still holds a grudge from that time I shot him in the foot twelve years ago, or we could have something. In another life.
So now all I have to do is avoid my nonna’s blind dates, try not to blackmail my brothers into giving me confidential police files, and absolutely do not point my gun at Drake Nash. Or kiss him. Or jump his bones.
All while I hunt down the killer.
Sounds totally simple—until a second body proves that sometimes things that start as coincidences don’t always end up that way…

(Twisted Bond is book one of the Holly Woods Files series and while it does not end in a cliffhanger, it is not a standalone.)

ABOUT THE BOOK

Blackballed from her corporate career, Andréa Grayson’s luck at finding suitable employment has run out. Until her sister secretly arranges an interview for Andy with  business mogul, Blake Donovan. Yet, as they work together the smoldering attraction he feels for her can’t be denied.

Excerpt

He caught his date smiling at him over her coffee cup. Her teeth were so perfectly straight and white, it almost seemed unnatural. He wondered if he should attempt conversation again. Drea had suggested, though, that talking about himself was not the best way to attract a woman. Listen to them instead, she’d said, or ordered, rather.

The problem with that advice was that this woman didn’t speak. At all. She hmm’d and ah ha’d, but that was the extent of her conversation. Even when he asked a question, he’d receive only a giggle in response.

She should be the perfect woman—attractive and quiet. And bland.

Maybe he didn’t want a quiet woman after all. Though Andrea argued with him at any chance she got, at least she was entertaining. Often over the last weeks, he’d actually

looked forward to seeing her in his office. Her opinions might be overbearing, but her insight was also usually spot-on.

Andrea also wouldn’t expect him to order for her, as all the other ones did. What was that anyway? A test of some sort? How was he possibly supposed to know what she’d want when he’d never met her before that very evening?

He’d tell Andy about that the next day. She’d get a kick out of it.

Now why did he just refer to her as Andy? Andrea was more suited to her looks. Admittedly, the more he’d gotten to know her, the more Andy seemed to fit her personality. But it was a hell of a lot of fun to see her feathers ruffle when he called her Drea.

The waiter came then to ask if there’d be anything else. “No, just the bill.” Blake said that a little quicker than

he should have. Andrea would have disapproved. “If you would, please,” he added, hoping to soften his obvious anxiousness. Actually, being in charge of the meal meant he could just demand the check like that. This was exactly why he continued to do the ordering for dates.

There. That was better. Andrea would be proud. He was nice-ish, and making sound business decisions.

Blake paid the bill and looked to his date—what was her name again? Sally? Cindy? Cinnamon? No matter, he’d simply leave it out when addressing her. “Are you ready then?”

“Hmm,” she replied.

It had to mean yes since she put her napkin on the table and rose from her seat.

Blake followed, a small smile gracing his lips at finally ending the miserable charade of a meal.

It wasn’t until later—much later—when he was tucked into his bed and he’d completed a chapter in his latest noir detective novel that he realized he’d spent the night

thinking more about his matchmaker than his proposed match.

He needed to get it together.

Synopsis

Welcome to the sexy, crazy, wildly unpredictable world of modern matchmaking, where fixing up strangers is part of the job—but falling in love is an occupational hazard…

He’s The Perfect Catch.

Blake Donovan is tall, handsome, rich, and successful—so why would a guy like him need a matchmaker? Andrea Dawson has no idea, but a job is a job. After being blackballed from a career in marketing, Andrea agreed to use her unique profiling skills to play matchmaker out of pure desperation. But when she meets her highly eligible—and particular—first client face to face, she wonders what she’s gotten herself into…

Is She His Perfect Match?

Blake knows exactly the kind of woman he’s looking for—and it’s the total opposite of Andrea. Though smart and undeniably sexy, she is simply too headstrong for a man who’s used to being in charge. Still, Blake’s blood pressure rises whenever she’s near him. How can he explain the smoldering attraction that sizzles between them? And how can Andrea deny she’s feeling it, too? Maybe, just maybe, they’ve finally met their match…

Review

OK, I want to be completely honest.  I read the synopsis for this book and I was less than thrilled.  It just did not sound that great to me.  It felt like it had been done before and I am finding myself kind of sick of sexy rich men.  But this book, totally smacked me in the face and was all like “You are wrong, Amie.  I am awesome, amazing, sexy, and totally hilarious.”  And that it was.  I loved this book.  I loved Blake and Andrea.  I loved their fights, their hysterics, and their attraction.

Andrea has a special talent.  She is fabulous at reading people, what their talents are, their weaknesses, what kind of people they are in general.  And she is looking for a job and it is imperative that she find one asap.  Her sister sets her up for an interview that changes her life forever.

Blake Donovan is looking for a wife.  Preferably submissive, bone thin, and a home maker.  Andrea has agreed to help him find one.  Meet Miss Matchmaker.

Andrea and Blake were just so ridiculous.  They made me laugh non stop.  Blake was not your typical rich alpha.  He is quirky and different and kind of shy and reserved in the sweetest of ways.  Andrea was kind of goofball, outgoing, and curvy.  Pretty much everything that Blake does not want in a wife.  Then why does he find himself so incredibly attracted to her?

There were a million things that I liked about this book but the sexual tension had to be the very best of all of these.  You can just feel it building and you keep waiting and waiting and when they finally take things further it pays off in such a big way.  I do love a good romance novel that can give you plenty of sexual tension and this one delivers in a big way.  I also thought the writing was especially good.  It was witty, sexy, and the story itself was spectacular.  I found myself laughing out loud on multiple occasions at these two ridiculous people denying their attraction to one another.  Just a fabulous book!   I really cannot wait for more from these two authors!

The sound of the garage door going up startled me, setting me into motion. It was a good thing I had been trained to make split second decisions with
limited information because that skill set was being put to the test right now. I moved toward the kitchen as I ran the possible scenarios through my head.
If it was Serena using a friend’s place to lay low, then I was in the clear. If it was a boyfriend or family member of the dead author, I was probably
screwed. A cleaning person or friend, I might be okay. The bottom line was, I had no way of knowing which scenario I was about to face, but it didn’t
matter. There wasn’t a chance in hell I was going out the back without knowing if the person walking through that door was Serena.

Right as my decision was made, I heard the sound of the garage door lowering, quickly followed by the door connecting the garage to the house opening and
closing. A deep feminine sigh resonated, but I stayed in position, on the other side of the refrigerator and out of sight. The sound of footsteps got
closer and then a woman entered the kitchen. I hadn’t meant to make a noise, but I shifted as soon as I realized who was standing in front of me. I moved
toward her so I could cover her mouth and get her under control before she screamed and one of the neighbors came to see what was wrong. And holy fuck,
there was plenty wrong with this situation since the woman was supposed to be dead.

About Me

I absolutely adore reading – always have and always will. My friends growing up used to tease me when I would trail after them, trying to read and walk at
the same time. If I have downtime, odds are you will find me reading or writing.

I am the mother of two wonderful sons who have inspired me to chase my dream of being an author. I want them to learn from me that you can live your dream
as long as you are willing to work for it.

When I told my mom that my new year’s resolution was to self-publish a book in 2013, she pretty much told me “About time!”

Review

“I would give just about anything to have an alpha hero of my own.”

I have been a fan of Rochelle Paige’s books for a while now so I knew going in that I would enjoy this book but I honestly can say that this is the best yet. Full of suspense, action, passion and a hot as hell alpha hero Identity Crisis is a book not to be missed.

“Take a good look at me, Blaine.” I shivered as his eyes locked with mine. “I already have every inch of you memorized.”

From the moment this book starts you can tell it will be fast paced and exciting.  A identity mix-up, a murder and a former Navy Seal who will do anything he can to protect the sassy little writer he just met had me hooked from page one. Delia is a romance writer who has yet been able to find the kind of man who can live up to the sexy and protective ones she writes in her books. Blaine is a former Navy Seal who comes to town when his friend (and ex-girlfriend) calls him in a confusing and worrisome phone call. Suddenly these two strangers are forced together to solve a murder and make sure that both come out of it alive. They never thought that through it all they would find passion, lust and a connection neither can deny.

“Fuck, baby. You’re hot when you’re angry with me You just made me come hard and you’re still able to get my cock hard just by throwing attitude my way. I’m starting to think it’s a good thing you like to argue.”

As sexy and protective as Blaine was (and I loved him oh so much) Delia was the absolute highlight of the story for me. She was a perfect heroine, strong and determined she never backed down and even when thankful for help also insisted that she play a part too. Never content to sit on the sidelines and let others fight her battles she puts herself in some danger in order to help everyone when needed. She was sassy and fun and really made the story for me.

“Sometimes love hits you like a bolt of lightning.”

A sexy cover and a great blurb will grab your attention but don’t fear Identity Crisis will hold strong and keep your attention. A fast read that is exciting, fun and sexy trust me when I say that this book is one you won’t want to miss.

Phoebe St. Claire

“Where are you?” he asked.

“Home.”

“I know. Where in your apartment are you?”

“On my bed.”

“Where are you?” I asked.

“Give me a minute.”

I heard stomping up some stairs and then a door closed.

“On my bed,” he said in that same husky tone.

I nearly stopped breathing.

“Are you still there?” he asked again.

“Yes,” my voice was raspy.

In a deep husky voice he said, “Tell me what you’re wearing under your clothes.”

Arousal overtook my mind and I answered quickly. “A bra and panties.”

“Take off your clothes and tell me what they look like.”

Flushing from head to toe I managed to say, “Jeremy!”

“Phoebe, I’ve seen you in your underwear. Christ, I’ve seen you naked. Just put your phone on speaker, dim the lights, and describe to me the lucky pieces of fabric covering your tits and pussy.”

Shock and desire swarmed through me in equal measure.

Memories of his dirty mouth came back in a flash.

I’d loved it so many years ago, loved when we were flesh to flesh. And this was different. I’d never had phone sex before. Had no idea how to, but I knew I was about to find out. I wasn’t going to turn him down. I wanted this.

The sexual tension that had blossomed between us was causing me to go insane. I was touching myself when I woke up in the middle of the night, and then in the shower before work, and last night and the night before after I hung up the phone with him. I’d been masturbating to the thought of him nonstop. Phone sex had to be so much better.

“Give me a minute,” I whispered needing to ease into the more intimate exchange that I knew was coming. I stripped out of my skirt and blouse and all but tore my hose pulling them off. The lights were already dimmed, so that wasn’t an issue. I heard his own mattress squeaking and wondered if he had started without me.

My phone beeped again and I looked down. This time it was an incoming call from Jamie. I ignored it. Then, I took a deep breath and a giant leap of faith as I sat on my bed in my underwear.

Just as I was thinking about what I could say, he spoke. “I have to be honest with you,” he said.

My heart sank. I didn’t like any conversation that started with those words.

With a heavy exhale, he said, “I’ve been hard all week just thinking about you and I have to admit, my wrist hasn’t been worked out this much in a long time.”

Picturing his hand, his cock, his hips, and the perfect choreographed movement of all three had me barely cognizant.

“Phoebe?”

“I’m here,” I said in the raspiest tone. “Then I’ll be honest too. It’s possible that I’ve made myself come more times this week than I have in my entire life.”

I wasn’t exactly comfortable initiating a kinky conversation. But I could follow his lead.

“Jesus Phoebe, you can’t talk that way to me when I’m not near you.”

Something primal erupted within me. “And I want to do it again.”

“Fuckkkk.”

I moaned at his use of the word fuck. It sounded entirely too delicious.

Equally as delicious was his sexy laugh that followed. “So what are we going to do about this dilemma?”

I sunk back into my pillows and pictured his face—his lips parted and his eyes heavy-lidded.

I knew what I wanted to do about it.

Did he want to do the same thing?

I hoped so.
