Us (L & J #3)
by Emily Eck

Synopsis

Told from dual points of view, Elle and J must figure out how to bring down an MC, steer clear of flying bullets in Missouri and south of the border, all the while making sure Fernie is out of the line of fire. Elle’s love for J is tested, as is her belief that she will ever find “normal” with the man she loves.

J is determined to make things right so he can give Elle the “normal” life she deserves. He just has to stay alive to make it happen. With his own personal sun by his side, he knows nothing is impossible. That is, until the bullets are redirected from his head to Elle’s.

Elle: I held my hand up, showing him the ring he’d put on me. “This is us,” I told him. It was more than a ring. Well, to me it was more. “I promise to love you ‘til the day I die.”
J:”Us, baby. This is us. I’ll love you ’til the sun ceases to shine.”

Review

This is the final book about J and Elle, and I couldn’t wait to see how it all works out for these 2. They have been through many highs and lows and I feel the book ended the way that is should have.

We start this book with insight into what happened to Elle and Chris, we get the back story to them becoming friends. This comes because of a nightmare that Elle has in which she flashes back to that night. This happens because of how book 2 ends. The kidnapping that took place brings the emotions out for her. We get to watch as J consoles and comforts her. They finally decide to stop star fishing and tell each other the things they feel rather than hide them.

Elle and J are fighting for their lives, even if they weren’t aware of it to start off with. The kidnapping is just the beginning and they need to fight to stay alive. We read about what they are willing to do for each other and what they are willing to go through in order to make sure that they have a future together. J is feeling the weight of all this, he feels that he is responsible for Elle’s life change, he feels it is his fault that she is by his side and not alone and safe. But he just can’t give her up.

We get Fernie in this story as well as some other characters that are thrown in. we have J’s MC Brothers and we have new girl Isabel. We also get a chapter from Chris. It’s amazing to get to read from these pov’s as well as J and Elle’s. We feel the guilt that Elle has because of Fernie in this book. She feels that he is being out into this danger with them, when he shouldn’t have been involved.

We get to see the softer sides of both Elle and J which is fantastic to read, I love when they both open up to each other and tell it how it is. Elle finally talks openly about her feelings for J, “You own my heart, my love…me. Im in this with you now, and I’ll die for you, just like you would for me. I can’t lose you again. A life without you isn’t an option.”

I loved this book, and I felt the way it ended was perfect for them. They got their home. I look forward to reading more of Emily Eck’s work. Well done on another brilliant read.

“Us, baby. This is us. I’ll love you ‘til the sun ceases to shine. I’ll keep telling you until you believe me.”

“What’s the matter, Wildcat?” Kona lay on top of her, held her hip with his long fingers. “You nervous?” She could only manage a nod and Kona smiled, moving his mouth to her neck, down her shoulder, kissing lightly. “We don’t have to do this. I can wait.”
“No!” She panicked at the thought. He laughed at her excitement and that touch on her hip got tighter. “No,” she said, voice a bit calmer. “I want you, Kona.” He looked at her, smile gone, expression relaxed. “I’ve wanted you for weeks and weeks.” Keira exhaled, moving the hair off her forehead. “It’s just been a while and you’re so…” She flicked her eyes down then quickly back up again. “You’re a lot bigger than I expected.”
“Ha, sweetheart, you’re good for my ego, but it’s just me.” Kona kissed her again, slipping just the tip of his tongue into her mouth before he pulled away. “I’ll be easy with you, Wildcat. I’ll be so slow and good, but maybe this will help.”
Kona’s hand left her hip, slipped between her thighs easily and he coaxed more wetness from her, teasing her lips, taking his time to touch her clit. Keira shuddered, held her hand against his wrist as he continued and Kona took her lead, rubbed once more over her clit before he slipped two fingers inside her. He’d learned her body in the past few weeks and Keira had been grateful that she didn’t have to tell him what she wanted, what felt best. He always seemed to know.
His mouth was warm, tongue eager as he kissed her, as those large fingers curled and his knuckles touched the spot that sent her mind swimming. He never had to touch her for long, always knew exactly how to read the lift of her voice, the collection of sounds that gave away just how good she felt when he touched her. That night was no exception. Just a few sure rubs of his knuckles against her G-spot and Keira was flying, hips off the mattress as her body chased that orgasm.
“Beautiful. Every time, Wildcat. So beautiful.” Another kiss against her neck, with Keira still spinning on the crest of her orgasm and Kona slipped inside of her. “God…” Kona moved his hips slow, barely moved an inch and already Keira felt full, felt she couldn’t be stretched any further. When he slid deeper, she hissed, not from the pain but from how sensitive she already was. “You okay? You want me to stop?”
“No,” she told him, opening her eyes so he’d know she wasn’t hurting. “God, no, please keep going. You just fill me up. It’s so good, bebe.”
Kona stilled inside her and a small quirk of his mouth told Keira he was pleased. “That’s the first time you’ve ever called me that.”
“I’ll say it again just to keep that smile on your face.”
Then Keira lifted her legs, wrapped them around Kona’s hips and she let herself be filled as he worked inside her. Everything about Kona was huge; his body, his cock, his voice, his presence and all of it filled Keira’s room as well as her body, moved around them and through them and she felt high, so high on him, on the sensation of him moving inside of her, his hands on her breasts, his fingers clasped with hers as he lifted her hands above her head on the pillow and pinned them there.
Sweat pooled over their skin, met together in the twist of their bodies and when Kona stared down at her, kissed her like her lips would give him breath, Keira shuddered, squeezed against him. The light was thin and Keira could only make out the outline of his features, the small glint in his eyes and it was too much, too overwhelming, but she would not run this time, she wouldn’t tell herself she could do without this. Not again. Not anymore. She belonged to him. Her body, her heart, no matter how beaten and worn it was, belonged to Kona Hale.
Keira squeezed against him again and Kona stilled, stared down at her with a smile that told her he wanted to control this, lead her. “Don’t squeeze,” he said, pulling her hips up, hitting inside her deeper. “If you open up, baby, go wide for me, relax, I can make you come hard, I can make it last for you.” A slow thrust, deeper, harder and Keira arched against him, relaxed her inner muscles even as she throbbed against him. “Perfect, so perfect.”
This was deeper, freer somehow, letting Kona move them, letting him control the moment and Keira held onto Kona like he would anchor her, keep her from floating above herself.
“Come for me, baby. Give it to me completely and I’ll make it so, so good for you. I’ll take care of you when you shatter against me.” And Keira listened, guessed that this is what Kona needed—that slip of control she gave to him. She let go, pushed out, relinquishing herself, giving her body to Kona, rather than closing off, pulling in, and the effect was substantial. He moved in closer, worked faster and Keira let herself open, relax until that heavenly sensation came upon her, urged on by Kona’s strong hands on her hips, his wide dick touching all the way inside her and when the orgasm came, it mirrored her heart—free, unyielding, explosive.
“God… ,” Kona said, voice rising higher and higher with each grunt he made, hips slamming into her hard, fast, faster, and Keira knew he was hitting his crest. Shoulders shaking, hips pumping faster and faster, Kona released a groan, filling her, throbbing inside her as he came.
Then he pulled his hand from hers and held the back of her neck, stared down at her with his thumb on her cheek. “This is always, Wildcat. You… you’re my always.”

Review

I literally just finished this book and I am reeling! I hope I can find the words to describe how much I loved this story!

 photo anigif_enhanced-31720-1404244180-40_zpsc033ce81.gif

When Keira and Kona first meet in college they are from two completely different worlds; Kona is the star of the football team and a total playboy. Keria is a perfect student; she keeps her head down and focuses on her studies.

KonaThinLove_zps3c4224f2 KeiraThinLove_zps3ad79b2b

When these two are partnered up for a class project, despite their many differences their attraction is undeniable. The feelings that these two have for each other are in no way simple or easy. What they have together is explosive, intense, heartbreaking and thick!

konateaser_zps79572fd4 Keirateaser_zps49d2ab22

When a series of tragic events tears them apart it is devastating for both of them. Sixteen years later they find themselves back in the same city where they met and fell in love. That same magnetic pull that has them crashing into each other all those years ago is still there. A lot has transpired in the intervening years since they’ve last seen each other and old wounds are still not completely healed. After all this time can they finally find happiness with each other or are they doomed to repeat the same mistakes all over again?

This book really took my breath away! I loved these two characters. The dynamics of their relationship were anything but simple but there was something extremely beautiful about their love. I found myself teary eyed at many points during the story and had a hard time putting this one down. I highly recommend this book and will definitely be reading more from Eden Butler.

Review

WOW…I really liked this book!!!  It was soo good!  This book was about Jared and Zhoe’s story.
This book had a lot of hot scenes in it, this couple was a lot of fun to read about.  They had some fun banter going on all the time and I loved the nick names they had for each other.  Zhoe liked calling him Sexy-Scary in the beginning because she really didn’t know what to think about him and if he would be the right person for her.   She later starts calling him Stud which I found really funny at times.  They were really cute together.  I also liked Zhoe’s best friend Angelica.  These 2 girls had some fun together and really knew how to party it up.  I read that the author is writing book 2 that should come out this year and it will be Angelica’s story. I cant wait to read her story, I bet it is going to be really good too 🙂
I gave this book 4.5 Smooches

Synopsis

There are three things you need to know about Ashley Winston: 1) She has six brothers and they all have beards, 2) She is a reader, and 3) She knows how to knit.

Former beauty queen, Ashley Winston’s preferred coping strategy is escapism. She escaped her Tennessee small town, loathsome father, and six brothers eight years ago. Now she escapes life daily via her Amazon kindle one-click addiction. However, when a family tragedy forces her to return home, Ashley can’t escape the notice of Drew Runous— local Game Warden, bear wrestler, philosopher, and everyone’s favorite guy. Drew’s irksome philosophizing in particular makes Ashley want to run for the skyscrapers, especially since he can’t seem to keep his exasperating opinions— or his soulful poetry, steadfast support, and delightful hands— to himself. Pretty soon the girl who wanted nothing more than the escape of the big city finds she’s lost her heart in small town Tennessee.

This is a full-length novel, can be read as a standalone, and is the fourth book in the ‘Knitting in the City’ series.

About Penny Reid

Author-Photo-Penny-Reid-300x300

SEX! It all started with sex, between my parents. Personally I don’t like thinking about it, but whatever works for you is a-ok with me. No judgment. The sex happened in California and much of my life also occurred in that state until I moved from the land of nuts (almonds), wine, silicon… boobs, and heavy traffic to the southeast US. Like most writers I like to write, but let’s get back to sex. Eventually I married and gave birth to 2 small people-children (boy-6, girl-4 as of this writing).

By day I’m a biomedical researcher with focus on rare diseases. By night I’m a knitter, sewer, lino block carver, fabric printer, soap maker, and general crafter. By the wee hours of the morning or when I’m intoxicated I love to listen to the voices in my head and let them tell me stories. I hope you enjoy their stories.

Review

“As well, he was so ruggedly sexy I’m sure my mouth fell open to protest the unfairness of his existence. Luckily, no sound emerged. I was too busy oscillating between stunned, mortified, and turned on.”

It is absolutely no secret that I LOVE the Knitting in the City series by Penny Reid and when I received Beauty and the Mustache I had no doubt in my mind that I would love this as much. I was wrong, so wrong! I LOVED IT SO MUCH MORE!  Penny writes a smart independent, witty heroine who still comes across as vulureable when needed. While these super strong smart women might not be for everyone they are most definitely for me!  Not to mention how drool worthy her men are too (and there are a ton of men in this boo! lol!)

 aaf

“Uh,” he cleared his throat, “Tuesday mornings are Beau’s time slot.”

When Ashley’s mom gets sick she does something she hadn’t planned on doing for a very, very, very long time . . . she comes home to Tennesse and her  6 very manly and rugged brothers! The Winston Boys are quickly becoming men that I need more of in my life. If I could be granted one wish today it would be for these loving yet hilarious men to each get their own book! For me, BatM was more somber and serious in a lot of ways than the previous books. The issues Ashley has to deal with are difficult and heart breaking. On top of all that she is not in a place (physically and emotionally) to look for love or any kind of relationship! But isn’t that when one always seems to find you!

“Sugar, I’d be honored to catch you anytime you’d like to fall.”

In Tennessee there is one man too many hanging around her house, Drew. Her brother’s  boss and her mom’s confidant and friend. But to her Drew is somewhat cold and distant. This is not what she needs when her life is falling apart! Drew is scary to her, he is rugged and super handsome and a distraction. This is a time when she needs to focus on healing her relationship with her brothers and spending valuable time with her mom, but Drew is happy to just fill in the gaps and for that I loved him desperately!

bat

I never knew how much I wanted a hairy bearded man till I read Beauty and the Mustache! But oh boy I feel like I desperately need one in my life now! I don’t want to finish this review without also mentioning that the dynamic among the knitting group makes me yearn for that kind of a relationship with a group of girls. But mostly above all I need a Sandra and I need to start working on making my own Spank Naughty List!

“He sought to soothe me, but I would have none of softness. I wanted the storm. I needed a downpour.”

Penny’s writing is magical! There is just no other way to describe it! She perfectly blends the best wit I have read in a book with a story I can’t put down! On top of all that she has made me fall in love with every man she writes. I cannot recommend this whole series but as I have said with each book before Beauty and the Mustache is most definitely my absolute favorite!!! (BTW this is most definitely a standalone but please read them all cause they are amazeballs)

“Then, In that moment, I finally figured out what kind of handsome he was. He was fiction-handsome. Like, romance novel handsome. But not clean cut (billionaire) alpha male or even the tattooed (billionaire) bad boy archetype. He was the bodice ripper, Scottish highlander or Viking conqueror, historical romance kind; an unshaven, lion wrestling, mountain man recluse, toss you over his shoulder and plunder your goodies kind of handsome.”

“Meanwhile, there was a wild boar of need within me; one that he’d awakened with his quick silver eyes, poetic words, velvet baritone, heroic deeds, and expertly choreographed kisses. He’d left me to drown in want.”

Synopsis

We are not guaranteed anything, not even this life.

Rivers Young is the popular guy untouchable by reality. He is like a star—bright, consuming, otherworldly. The thing about stars, though, is that they eventually fall, and he is no different.

He falls far and he falls hard.

Delilah Bana is the outcast enshrouded in all of life’s ironies. Alone, in the dark, like dusk as it falls on the world. When Rivers hits the ground, she is the night that catches him. In the darkness, they meld into something beautiful that shines like the sun.

Only, the greater the star is, the shorter its lifespan.

Review

Lindy does this to me…every stinking time. Reading her amazing work is exquisitely painful. Her words so powerful, they gut you. They cut away all of the insanity and focus on one singular idea. Each story is different and holds such powerful truth, it brings you to your knees. This first happened, for me, with Take Care, Sara. The astonishing beauty between those characters, I never thought would be topped.

And then I met Rivers and Delilah. The enormity of their coupling was so profound for me. Delilah touched a part of my soul that I didn’t even know was there. You know, you read to open your mind, explore new worlds. Be reminded what it’s like to just feel. Feel on a deep level, something…anything. That’s what Delilah and Rivers did for me. It took an impossible situation, where hope and love should be replaced with anguish and despair, and it turned it on it’s head. Delilah wouldn’t stand for anything less and her truth and the power and conviction of that truth was the bright shining light that shone thru that one fateful summer.

unnamed-3

Delilah and Rivers had just graduation from High School. Rivers was in a terrible boating accident and was feeling completely lost. He thinks his life is ruined. That there is nothing left to live for. All that he knew and all that he had was stripped from him and he has chosen to shut down. He has cloaked himself in despair and pity and shielded himself from anyone and everyone that cares for him.

In walks Delilah. Delilah with her care free attitude and her crazy hair. Delilah with her wonky smiles and impromptu dancing. Delilah with all her flair, but most importantly, her beautiful heart. She goes to work as a summer housekeeper at Rivers’ house. She does her job, but slowly starts to break away that wall surrounding Rivers. And the most beautiful part…they choose each other and their love story begins. Within their love, they find themselves. Delilah doesn’t have to be the social outcast and Rivers doesn’t have to be the popular jock. They can just be who they were meant to be.

unlit star2

Delilah saved Rivers and helped him to live, and breathe, and feel. But Rivers did the same for Delilah. Their love is epic. It’s profound. It expands space and time. Their truth is so beautiful, it’s blinding. If you wish to be touched by characters that will imprint themselves on your soul, then pick up Unlit Star and enjoy the beautiful bright light that is Delilah and Rivers.

Excerpt

I had been skipping out on sleep, trying to make it up in caffeine, and I was about to hit my tipping point. I felt so shitty, I didn’t even care about the weekend with Ty. By the time Friday arrived, I’d be in no shape to enjoy it. I washed that bitter thought down with some coffee and granola, then I headed to work.

Thursday. Thursday sucks.

When I pulled into the Rainbow Academy parking lot, I was in no mood to deal with children. This foul mood seemed etched in stone until Ty came out of the building. He usually dropped Sam off earlier; must be running late. My first instinct was to let him go, but as if he sensed me watching him, like that first night on his balcony, he spun until he found me looking.

“Nadia.” I swore I heard him say my name from all the way over here, his expression brightening like I was all the good things in the world. Then he was jogging toward me.

I’d rarely seen him all put together for work. Usually, I saw the aftermath of a long day, wrinkled pants, ink-stained tie. But this Ty was crisp and gorgeous: navy trousers and jacket, white shirt, red-and-blue-striped tie. More conservative than I’d have pictured, but he looked amazingly sharp for a guy who had wrangled a four-year-old before work.

By comparison, I felt like a crumpled dollar bill.

“Best morning ever,” he said.

Before I could ask what he meant, he pushed me up against the car and kissed me. In the side lot, it was doubtful anyone could see us, certainly not Sam, and I wanted this too much to push him away. His mouth was magical, chock full of endorphins and sweetness. He was syrup and pancakes for the soul.

“Wow,” I said, breathless.

“Yep.” Such a lazy, delicious smile. Why had I never noticed how devilish he could be? “I might start leaving ten minutes later, if this is the payoff. Hate to kiss and run. I just needed a top-up to last until tomorrow night.”

When I realized I was that close to finishing midterms, I nearly burst into tears. “What time should I be there?”

Ty was already rushing toward his car, long legs putting distance between us. I’d never seen him run before, and I was transfixed by the sheer, animal grace of him. He called over his shoulder, “Should be home by nine. I’ll text as soon as I pull up.”

Like I won’t be watching.
