Synopsis

When your world, your life and all of your hopes and dreams for the future are ripped out from under you, how do you go on?

Death without dying is not only the most painful kind of death, it’s also the most painful kind of life and I don’t know if I’m strong enough to live it.

I spend my lonely days and nights trying to make sense of what my life has become. Do I have the strength to move forward into the light, or should I just let the darkness take me?

I’m Georgia Rae Layton McCarthy and this is the story of me, just me.

I’m no longer a part of an us, it’s just me.
Alone.

By myself.

Review

Wow!  So, this is the second book in a 2 part series.  I pretty much spent the whole first novel like this:

That book simply chewed me up and spit me out, but I really am a glutton for punishment because I love a book that makes me feel.  I probably spent more time ugly crying than I did smiling but sometimes life calls for the occasions to give a good cry and a heartfelt sob at a fictional character’s expense.  My life calls for them often!

So, what did I do when Carnage #2 came out?  I dug deep, found my inner ugly crier, and dove right in.  I didn’t think I would love it more than the first book, but man was I wrong.  The book simply had it all.  Amazing writing, beautiful editing, steamy sex scenes, happy tears, and sad tears make up Carnage #2.  My inner ugly crier made an appearance only 2 pages in and pretty much stayed with me the entire book, but this time I got something that I didn’t in the first novel. I will not tell you what, but trust me, you want it.

“I had put her back together once, and I’d do it again when the time was right.  When she finally realized she needed me, I would be there and I’d put her back together again.”

(SOB)

Georgia is back and she is in fighting form.  She is still down but she is not out and this really is HER story.  Knowing what Georgia has been through, I found myself really wanting her happily-ever-after this book, but as anything with Georgia, it doesn’t come easy.  You know that anything she does has to be the hard way while listening to absolutely no one!

“It’s not gonna be easy.”

“Nothing worth fighting for ever is.”

The trials and tribulations that she faces again this book would probably make me feel really, really bad if I didn’t enjoy reading about it so much.  God, I love the drama and Lesley brings that in spades.  Tearful gut-wrenching drama seems to be her speciality and she serves it up quite nicely.

“Once again, I’m faced with a scene of complete an utter carnage.  How ironic that that word has come to mean something so much more to me than the name of my husband’s band during my life.”

Anyways,  pull up your big girl panties and read these books if you haven’t.  Go on, I dare you!

“We’ll get our happy ever after.  I promise you that.”

Synopsis:

After nearly four years with Jeff, everything fell apart. I found myself single, scared, but somehow liberated as well. Rather than stumble into another ill advised relationship, my best friend Sally helped me find focus. I would spend the next few months “finding myself” sexually. That’s how The Rebound List was born.

My journey begins with the first item on my list – a virgin. But it’s not easy to go from squeaky-clean committed girlfriend to wanton sex goddess. Hopefully I’ll have the guts to follow through!

What (or whom) would you do to celebrate your freedom after your first serious relationship breaks down?

About the Author:

Hedonist Six is an author of Erotic Romance based in London. Nobody’s perfect, neither are her characters, which makes them all the more relatable and well-liked by her fans. Reviewers have described her debut novel Just Another Day at the Office as heart-felt and unique within the genre.

Actually I’m omitting a few steps taken to get to this point; the depressing realisation that I was – for the first time in my adult life – alone in this world. The resulting evening spent with Sally, drinking wine, crying and complaining about how unfair life is, until a few glasses later her eyes lit up with the best idea ever.

Unlike most drunken ideas, this one was pretty workable. She asked me about my deepest, darkest sexual fantasies. She encouraged me to let my inner slut out and enjoy myself in ways I hadn’t been able to while playing the squeaky-clean committed girlfriend.

While we spoke our minds, our combined imagination or the wine, probably more the wine actually, awoke something in me. I could feel myself getting excited, blushing feverishly while listening to anecdotes of some of her less responsible exploits. She didn’t hold back on the details and I felt an urge grow inside me.

I wanted to be that girl: the one who walks into a room and causes heads to turn in her direction. She made me feel like I had this potential, in the way she described how she saw me. Not boring and average as I had felt all my life, but a rare and exotic beauty who could wield immense power over the male of the species. It was a revelation.

Review

The Rebound List was a very good book.  I really enjoyed it. It was about a woman- Becky who had just gotten out of a 4 year relationship and decided that she did not want to start a new relationship on the rebound. Becky wanted to make sure that she was ready to settle down, trying to decide If she had lived her single life to the fullest before jumping right into another relationship.
So this is how the list was born.
 “To Do:

                                                                                                                                                                     Virgin
                                                                                                                                                                 Silver Fox
                                                                                                                                                                  Stranger
                                                                                                                                                                Threesome “
Awesome List..right?   So she starts off by online dating and looking for someone who fit one of her “To Do” lists.  She comes across as a Virgin and she sends him a message.  He isn’t like her previous boyfriend who was skinnier then the average guy but she really likes what she sees in the Virgin’s profile, he is a larger sized man, longer hair, goatee and has really good looks.  So she shoots him a message and they strike up a conversation, and it goes well.. So they decide to go to a movie and see where it leads them.  She does notice he is a little timid but she feels she can teach him and bring him out of his shell.
She sends him a little list telling him what she expects out of him.
1.  There will be no obligations for the either of us; we can say no at any time if we’re not feeling it.
2.  I don’t just sleep with strangers, so I expect to be taken on a date first.  I’ll have a hotel room booked so we have a relatively neutral place to retreat to in case things go well.
3.  Be clean and well groomed; I expect you to make an effort to look nice for me.  (To avoid any confusion, I mean common sense stuff like taking a shower, clipping your nails and brushing your teeth etc.  No need to worry about body hair)
4.  I like for a man to make the first move.  To help you along, remember that I won’t make ANY physical contact unless I am open to more.
5.  You’re bringing the condoms.
Soo… see these are all things that all of us girls would like to make sure we suggest up front..Right? Right.
So now you will have to read this book and see if they go through with it, does Becky fulfil any of the other things on her “To Do” list?  I guess you will have to read and see.
This was a quick read.  There are 3 Books in a series and they are all out and the first one is free right now on Amazon.  Cant beat free..right? 🙂
This book is also for mature 18+ readers.
I gave this book 4 smooches!!

Falling For Fate by Caisey Quinn Cover Reveal

The second book in the Second Chance series by Caisey Quinn has a cover!
While the series is made up of standalone novels featuring different couples, it does center around a location: The Second Chance Ranch, a drug and alcohol rehabilitation facility owned by Trace Corbin and Gretchen Gibson from the Kylie Ryans series. Here’s what Caisey had to say about the series!
Caisey: I really love writing this series because with each new novel I get a new story to build around the ranch. The overlap between characters in each book is a lot of fun for me, even though readers don’t always catch them. It’s almost like a hidden treasure. For instance, Fate’s mom appears briefly in Van’s story (Last Second Chance), but as the books are released approximately 3-4 months apart, not everyone remembers those details. It’s such a treat for me knowing that they’re in there!
Readers have asked if they will see Trace and Kylie in this series and they will! Trace will pop in from time to time and then towards the end of the series they’ll both attend a celebratory dinner at the Ranch.
While Last Second Chance was pretty hot, with tortured soul musician Van Ransom, Falling for Fate is a bit on the sweeter side. Though y’all know me, there will still be plenty of steam! Dean and Fate have a chance encounter and then meet again unexpectedly. While they’re both young professionals, having very different relationship backgrounds and experiences leaves them a bit out of their league when it comes to one another.
I am so in love with this cover because my characters meet on the beach and I asked the designer (Regina Wamba of Mae I Design) to give it an ocean water feel. She did such a wonderful job! I hope y’all like it as much as I do!

MORE ABOUT FALLING FOR FATE
Fate Buchanan just wants to escape the constraints of her old life. After checking her mother into rehab and catching her fiancé with her Maid of Honor the night before their wedding, she ran. Angry and hurt, she’s aching to do something reckless

Dean Maxwell is having one last summer of freedom before taking over his family’s multi-billion dollar medical conglomerate. When he sees a beautiful woman running down the beach alone after dark he knows it’s not safe. So he does something impulsive

When their paths cross unexpectedly after a night of unbridled passion, neither of them can forget the memory of the affair they shared. What began as one night is about to become a whole lot more

*Note: While part of the Second Chance series, this novel stands alone.

Suddenly, secrets get a completely new meaning.

Is the past really ever the past?

Review

Ok, so this is my very first JC Reed book and I really liked this story. The writing was really good and the story caught my interest right away.  I pretty much read this short read in only a couple of hours, so I knocked it out in one sitting.

I enjoyed the mystery and suspense a lot in The Lover’s Secret.  From what I can gather, Brooke has been though some super bad stuff lately and thought she was settling down and moving on.  Unfortunately for her, the past has caught up with her future and she now has more questions than answers; leaving her not knowing what to believe.

Oh my goodness, this story was just so twisty and mysterious.  I was literally glued to this book trying to figure out what the heck was going on.  I feel like I would have been better prepared if I had read the Surrender Your Love series because it took me a bit to catch on to what was happening, but I don’t know if that was a good thing or a bad thing, because I was really intrigued and couldn’t stop reading until I solved the puzzle.  The author did a great job of filling in the blanks from the Surrender Your Love series but I just have a feeling I would have gotten more out of this book if I had read those first.  Because I wasn’t familiar with the characters, I REALLY didn’t know who to believe or trust and one character’s behaviour really left me intrigued.  I found myself really wanting to hear his point of view.  And the cliffy at the end just made me want to scream.  Mystery unsolved until the next book!!!  AHHH!

Violet can’t imagine anything worse than having her very private, very naked photos strewn across the Internet.

Until they multiply like a virus.

With her name, address, and phone number attached.

And her boss finds out. And a stalker finds her.

Violet’s refuge is a rock star known for going through groupies faster than guitar picks. Letting Jayce get close enough to protect her exposes her secrets—and her heart—to a man whose celebrity could ruin her.

That’s because being a nobody is the one thing that keeps Violet’s photos from making headlines. And it’s the reason she can never fall for a rock star.

Secrets spread like wildfire when a celebrity fans the flames.

REVENGE BOUND is a full-length, standalone novel, and a companion to the Tattoo Thief books. It contains steamy scenes and strong language intended for mature readers.

Exclusive Excerpt:

Jayce discovers that Violet is receiving threatening text messages from a stalker. He escorts her home and stays at her apartment—on the couch—when it’s clear the stalker is watching them. This is from Violet’s perspective the morning after.

The silence stretches between us, growing more uncomfortable as I feel his eyes on me. I sip my coffee, desperate to have something to do, plotting my escape so I can shower and change and … why is he still here?

“You didn’t have to stay.”

“I did.” His voice is low, intense.

“I’m a big girl. I can handle it.”

“Doesn’t mean you should have to handle it alone.” Jayce slides a shiny iPhone across the small table to me. “This is for you. A private number.”

What the what? “You can’t give me your phone,” I say stupidly.

“I’m not. This is your phone. A new number, so you won’t have to deal with those texts. Take it, Violet.”

I know I should be grateful, for this and for everything he’s done for me so far, but anger flares instead. Presumptuous, arrogant jerk. “Do you think you can just throw money at a problem and it’ll go away?”

“It works sometimes, Violet.”

My cheeks flame with embarrassment that he thinks I need to be rescued. “Well, it doesn’t work for me.”

Jayce pushes back from the table and grabs our empty plates, spinning toward the kitchen. Plates clatter and water runs.

I lean on the wall by the sink. “Since when do you think you can just wave your magic rock star wand and do this? Fix this? I don’t want your pity.”

There. It’s out there—a four-letter word that stings worse than any filthy epithet. Pity.

“Fuck pity. I don’t want some nasty stalker sending you messages like the ones from last night. Call it a gift.”

I plunge my hand deep into my hair, trying to hold onto my fraying composure. “I don’t like your mouth,” I hiss, hating the F-bomb as it explodes from his lips.

Jayce gives me a slow look, intimate and searching. His hands drip with water, but he reaches to touch my face. I steel myself. I will not flinch.

“Oh, but I love yours,” he murmurs, his thumb ghosting across my lower lip. He strokes my cheek as my color rises. I’m frozen under his gaze. “And this blush. I can’t help it. Seeing what he wrote makes me a bit … protective.”

I stumble backward out of his grasp. I don’t know Jayce from Adam. I was stupid to let him take me home, and to trust him in my apartment while I freaked out and melted down. He could be another stalker, for all I know.

“I don’t want to be protected,” I say, and the lie slides out of my mouth as I edge back toward my room, wishing Neil would hurry up in the bathroom so I could dive in there and get away from Jayce. “I want to be left alone.”

“As you wish, princess,” he says, and he winks. He stinking winks, like he knows I’ll get that line from The Princess Bride. Like he knows I can’t stay mad at him because he’s irresistible.

I can’t. He is. But that’s not the point.

“You can’t just come in here and act like you own me, like you can just do things and I’ll be OK with that,” I say, pointing to the phone, but my argument’s already losing steam.

Jayce shakes his head and picks up his keys from a side table. I think he’s going to walk out the door—and an apology is on the tip of my tongue—but he spins and walks straight to me, invading my space, backing me up against my apartment wall with a soft thud.

His chest rises and I feel heat radiating off him, less than an inch separating our bodies. There’s something so powerful, so masculine about him that my heart beats fast in my chest, and he threads his fingers through the wild tangles of my hair.

“I don’t act like I own you,” he says, his breath on my cheek, tickling the corner of my mouth.

“You act like you want to control me.” I whimper as his hand tightens to a fist in my hair.

“Ah, but control is a different thing entirely. Control can be earned. Power can be given.” Jayce’s nose brushes my cheek. “You gave me control last night. You let me protect you.”

I raise my hands to his chest to push him away, to put distance between us, but I falter as I feel his chest rise and fall, feel his heart beat hard inside it. I shake my head. “No.”

Jayce’s shoulders drop and he allows another inch of air between us, his hands skimming through my hair as he releases me. “No is a word I respect. Always.”

I feel his body shift to turn away from me and I’m suddenly bereft without his touch, limp like I could slide down the wall. “But—”

His body is hard against mine in an instant, erasing the air between us. “But I want to have you. And I will.” Jayce’s mouth twists toward mine and I part my lips, anticipating a kiss. Instead, I feel a sharp sting in my lower lip.

He bit me!

And in one motion, Jayce turns and walks out the door.

About The Author

11

I live in Florida with my husband and four kids. I’ve always had a love for reading books and writing. Being an English major in college, I wanted to teach at the college level but that was not to be. I went on to receive an MBA and became a project manager until quitting to raise my family. I currently work part-time with my husband and full-time embracing one of my biggest passions—writing.

I wear a lot of hats! Writer, book-lover, wife, soccer-mom, taxi driver, and the all around go-to person of the family. However, I always find time to read. One of my favorite family outings use to be taking my kids to the bookstore or the library. Today, my oldest child is in college and my twins are juniors so they no longer go with me on these outings. And although I don’t need to go to the actual store anymore because I have the greatest device ever invented—a Kindle, I still do. There’s nothing like a paperback. So now my four year old and I make dates out of going to the bookstore–it’s time I love and cherish.

I like to believe in soulmates, kindred spirits, true friends, and Happily-Ever-Afters. I love to drink champagne, listen to music, and hopes to always stay young at heart.

Synopsis

A Connection Series Novella featuring Ben Covington

The story before the love story….

When he lost the only woman he’d ever loved, it seemed there was nothing left to live for.

Even as a boy, all Ben Covington ever wanted was to spend forever with Dahlia London, the beautiful girl next door…then one life-altering decision tore them apart and he was forced to leave her.

Now, despite having returned to win her back, he’s still alone. She’s with someone else—someone she’s never going to leave.

Resigned to a future without his former girlfriend, Ben numbs his broken heart in a haze of liquor and women. But then the only woman who ever even turned his head while he was with his girl reappears unexpectedly. And he’s never forgotten their one incredible night together. But will Ben’s destructive behavior destroy his future with her before it even begins?

Review

I think I went into Blurred much like anyone who has been reading the Connections Series by Kim Karr, skeptical. I mean how am I supposed to understand and love Ben after some of the stuff that he pulled on Dahlia. I know most of it he did with good intentions but honestly he was not a character I was super excited to read. Now that being said I did not come out of this novella fully loving him and I still do not completely understand him BUT I am super excited to know more in Frayed. This story is not to tell all of Ben’s story but instead getting a chance to look into his past and see him at his darkest helps you feel closer to him even when he is making some awful decisions.

blurred2

Blurred is told both in the present and flashing back through the past few years. You get to see parts of him at different stages in his story but my favorites are when we get to see Ben and Bell together. I honestly thought it would be hard to see Ben with anyone other than Dahlia but it is clear that although they each served a valuable role in both their lives they are just not meant to be and everyone deserves a chance to be happy, even Ben. Here is where it get tricky, Ben and Bell met in college (yeah when he was with Dahlia) and now years later Dahlia is married to River . . . Bell’s brother. Lordy I love a soap opera story!

Woman eating apple

While this is not a typical romance read it is a bit of insight into these characters before we all get to delve into the full force love story that I hope will be Frayed. I love this series and with every book I read I love it more and more. While Ben is not easy to love he is so much easier to understand now and I can see that I will be falling for him in Frayed (which I plan on starting as soon as I finish writing this review because I just NEED to know what happens next!) This really is a great novella and anyone who has been reading this series is not going to want to miss out on this story!
