SYNOPSIS:

REVIEW:
Forsaken Trail is the fourth book in Devney Perry’s phenomenal Runaway series, and it’s Aria Saint-James’ turn behind the wheel of that old caddy. She sets off from the Oregon coast, where she makes her home and pursues her passion as the head groundskeeper for a luxury hotel, to spend two weeks in the Arizona desert with her twin sister, Clara, and her beloved nephew, August. Clara has settled into life in Arizona as an executive assistant to her billionaire boss, Brody Carmichael, and over the years they’ve become best friends. Aria, on the other hand, cannot stand the pompous, pretentious playboy, and those feelings from Brody for Aria are totally mutual.
This old caddy has seen a lot of miles and taken its drivers on some wild rides and meaningful journeys. Aria’s trip is no different. That’s the thing about a road trip, you might have a destination in mind, but you don’t quite know what you’ll face on the road there, and Devney Perry has done an incredible job in this series giving each of the one-time runaways exactly the journey that they needed.
The sparks seem to fly whenever Brody and Aria are together. These two are fire and ice, gasoline and water, and they are every bit the fiery enemies. But when Aria has to step in to do a favor for Brody, those flying sparks catch fire as the two join forces to fake a relationship. Maybe it was too much champagne, or Brody looking hot in his tux as Aria dazzled him while she played his doting girlfriend, whatever the reason, the result was the same—Brody and Aria wind up in bed. They made more than magic that night, however, and a few months later, Aria is turning her life upside down to move to Arizona so Brody can be a part of the life they created. They have a lot of growing to do to make this relationship work, and I loved how direct Aria was with Brody. Money equating love is all Brody knows, but Aria won’t have it—or his money—and it’s so foreign to Brody, it kind of broke my heart for him a little.
Forsaken Trail teemed with emotion and sizzling chemistry, and the push and pull of two very different people finding their way. Poignant and passionate, Aria and Brody’s journey to happily ever after was hard-earned and heart-tugging. I couldn’t flip the pages fast enough, and this story that completely owned my all of my attention. I can’t wait for Clara’s story! Five smooches from me for Forsaken Trail by Devney Perry!
