Synopsis

**Standalone novel**

Mirror, mirror … who’s the fairest of them all?

I still cringe when I hear that line. A fairy tale that had girls pretending they were the fairest, the most beautiful, and the most entitled. A fairy tale most couldn’t grow out of turned my haunted childhood memories into a living nightmare. Girls who grew up believing that pile of garbage became the meanest of all ‘mean girls.’

And those mean girls were right – it was a line meant for all the beautiful people in the world – and I knew the answer would never be me.

The women with long legs, flat stomachs, and perfect chests.

The type of women Kane Masters gravitated toward.

Well, that’s definitely not Willow Tate.

No. That will never be me.

Because I’m completely imperfect.

And … I hate myself.

I have no idea what Kane could possibly see in someone like me when he could have them.

Review

Ok, I was really super excited about reading this one from Harper Sloan.  It seemed different than the books that I have read in the past of hers and I have read them all.  So my initial reaction was to read the first couple of chapters and then check my goodreads again.  I kept thinking this is Harper Sloan, right?  Yep, I thought so but honestly this book just felt so incredibly different than her other books.  I mean that in the best possible way.  Harper’s writing has always been good but I feel like this book was written magnificently so I feel like this author has grown by leaps and bounds.  And it isn’t just the writing.  It is the story.  The amazingly emotionally intense story that was just so mature and wise.  I go to Harper for crazy alphas with heart, suspense, and steamy sex typically but this one was so much more and I just felt so proud of this author.  I mean, I have been reading her since Axel and Harper’s writing and story telling just keeps getting better and better and Perfectly Imperfect is a true testament to that.

‘I have nothing left to lose.

Nowhere else to go but up.

It’s time to finally be the Willow I can love.

Even if no else can.’

Ahh, Willow’s story is really a very hard one.  As women I think we all struggle with body issues.  Skinny or fat we all have insecurities about our bodies and Harper does a fabulous job of addressing this issue so delicately, but also so very directly and head on.  I loved Willow.  I adored watching her grow and get better emotionally.  But most of all I loved watching her fall in love with Kane while falling in love with herself!

Typically,  I am not a fan of books where the hero or heroine are “a famous person”.  I just don’t dig it and even though Kane is a famous actor/director, the story wasn’t really about his being famous or his fandom so I wasn’t really bothered bit it.  And even though this story was so very powerful in its message it was still ridiculously sexy!  Whew, the hotness!

‘I’m a starved man, and you’re the meal I’ve been fantasizing about.”

I loved this book even though it was completely different than other books by this author.  Gorgeous cover, fabulous story, and meaningful heartfelt writing.  Pick it up now!
