SYNOPSIS:

I’m in trouble.

On the brink of losing everything I’ve worked for, I have a choice to make. Sit back and watch it all evaporate before my eyes, or accept a deal with the devil himself, my identical twin brother, Matthew.

He has agreed to fund my floundering cattle ranch if I do three things:

1. Oversee the redecorating of his apartment in the famed Bachelor Tower in Boston.

2. Make sure his latest business deal proceeds without a hitch.

3. Break up with his girlfriend, Kyla.

Seems easy enough, right?

Wrong.

Pretending to be my brother is hard enough, but tossing in an instant attraction to my brother’s girlfriend adds an extra layer of complication I wasn’t prepared for. All I have to do is get through three weeks portraying my brother, and I’m home free.

Shouldn’t be too hard, as long as I can keep my heart out of the deal.

*Bachelor Swap is a sexy contemporary romance addition to Ruth Cardello’s Bachelor Tower World.

REVIEW:

I’m a huge fan of Lacey Black’s. Her small town romances are some of my favorite things to read. I’ve read just about everything she’s written over the years, and there hasn’t been anything from her that I haven’t loved. I haven’t read any of the other Bachelor Tower World romances, but as a long-time reader of Lacey’s, the plot interested me and I was looking forward to reading it. Bachelor Swap, a story written in Ruth Cardello’s Bachelor Tower world, is a complete standalone, so it isn’t necessary to read any of the other stories in this world to follow along with this one. In fact, it’s a nice entry-point into this world, and I may check out other stories set in this world.

Bachelor Swap features two identical twin brothers switching places. Matthew Wilder is the uber successful, ruthless businessman, resident of the Bachelor Tower and the evil twin. Mason Wilder, the hero in this story, is a simple cowboy from Montana whose ranch is struggling. His financial situation has become dire, and he’s desperate. Matthew flies him to Boston and offers him a way out of his financial woes if he agrees to switch places with him and complete three tasks. Mason would need to oversee the redecoration of Matthew’s apartment in the famed Bachelor Tower, he needs to keep a business deal that Matthew has essentially wrapped up but yet finalized from going off the rails, and he needs to break up with Matthew’s girlfriend, Kyla.

Mason, the good twin, is understandably hesitant about all of this, but again, he’s in a very tight spot, on the cusp of losing everything he’s worked for, and his options are limited to basically Matthew’s offer. He can certainly oversee a simple renovation project. He’s nervous about keeping the business deal going because that’s not his area, he has no experience conducting the kind business his brother does. And while he’s not at all happy about breaking up with Matthew’s girlfriend for him, he doesn’t know her, so he figures he can do that.

Kyla has been dating the infamous bachelor, Matthew Wilder, for a few weeks. It’s not going bad, per se, it’s just not really progressing at all. She heads over to his apartment for dinner to talk about the state of their relationship, and the man she encounters is much more open and welcoming than the one she’s been getting to know. She likes this guy, a whole lot, and he also seems to like her. He’s more casual—less buttoned up, he’s fun, friendly and more attentive than he’s ever been. The sparks between them are finally starting to fly, and she’s kind of shocked by her reaction. Mason is completely captivated by Kyla. He’s never met a woman like her, and he’s fascinated and smitten. The more time they spend together, the more they both start to fall. Their relationship was so natural and easy-going, but Mason’s secret hung over them like a giant rain cloud in an otherwise blue Montana sky. As Mason’s time playing his brother Matthew comes to a close, he’s got some tough decisions to make.

Lacey Black’s addition to Ruth Cardello’s Bachelor Tower world was a fun and steamy read with punches of emotion that I polished it off in a day. Bachelor Swap by Lacey Black gets 4.5 smooches from me!
