Synopsis

The toughest fighters aren’t created in the octagon but are born of necessity. When life delivers blow after punishing blow, you fight back or get destroyed.

Eve Dawson has had her fill of bad luck. A string of unhealthy relationships has left her angry, bitter, and frustrated. She’s given up on being happy and settles for content. Swearing off men, she repels advances and makes herself a challenge to even the most persistent suitors. After all, how much can the fragile human heart take? But life isn’t finished with her, and when things can’t possibly get worse . . . they do.

Stay on your feet.

It’s Cameron Kyle’s motto, but with his fighting career ripped from his grasp, a child he wasn’t strong enough to save, and a marriage that even the brawn of a heavyweight couldn’t hold together, it’s getting harder and harder to stay upright. He takes on the position of CEO of the UFL, intent on hiding his biggest weakness in order to forge a path that leads him back into the octagon.

When an old rival mysteriously gets wind of Cameron’s plan to fight again, he comes out of retirement to settle old debts, but secrets, lies, and betrayal threaten to deliver the death-blow. The distraction of a sass-mouthed girl seventeen years his junior is the last thing he needs until a tragic accident shatters the firm foundation of his resolve and he realizes just how far he’s fallen.

Will they risk it all and fight to be together?

Or does defeat lie within the fall?

Review

Oh my God!  I feel like everyone should read these books.  I am absolutely in love with this entire series.  I love fighter books and especially love alpha-fighters and this series is slammed full of them.  Whew!  While I think that you could probably read these books as stand-alones.  Why would you?  They are amazing and I love hanging out with the old gang while getting to meet the newbies each book.  So I recommend reading the books in this order.

Fighting series

I think that this series just keeps getting better and better.  Every book I read becomes my new favorite and Fighting the Fall was no different.

Eve is done with being used and abused by men.  She is thinking of pitching for the other team, if you know what I mean.

“I can’t watch the back of another man as he walks out of my life.  I wouldn’t survive it.”

Cameron Kyle is damaged, bad.  He wants Eve but thinks that would be a huge a mistake, being that he is 17 years her senior and has more baggage than the Atlanta airport.  It doesn’t stop him from wanting her, though.

I’m relentless, needy for what this girl does to me.  Her body erases my thoughts, helps me forget all the shit.  With her, it’s just us.  No past, no future, just now.

There are so many reasons that I loved this book.  I love all of Ms. Salbury’s books because I love her writing style.  I love her alpha men and I love her heroines.  Her girls are spunky, funny, and go getters and I love that about them.  Fighting The Fall was even better because of Cam.  I heart him so hard.  He was a real MAN and that made me all kinds of swoony!

“When we’re straight, I’m gonna lay you back and eat until I’m full.”

Lord Mercy!  I don’t know if it was because he was an older man or what, but the man had me turned the hell on like crazy!  He was seriously dominating and the most alpha in this series, for me, and I loved every second of it.  I also really enjoyed the fact that he wasn’t perfect and he had huge problems but that he still kept on keeping on.  Honestly, after what he suffered, I don’t know if I could.

Seven twenty, seven twenty, seven twenty. . . The day I was handed everything I’d never appreciate until I lost it.

He broke my heart and inspired me all at once.

“One thing I don’t do is fall.  Not anymore, not ever.”

Eve has been in previous books and I have really been waiting for her get her chance at love, but I never expected her to end up with Cam, an older man.  He doesn’t seem her type but it turns out I didn’t really know Eve that well until this book.  There is a lot going on with this young woman that you do not find out until Fighting the Fall and while, I admit, she hasn’t been my favorite character in the past books I really did grow to love her in this one.

I also enjoyed catching up with the gang in this one.  So many big events happen to this group that I have grown to love.  I don’t want to give anything away but a certain crazy man and his mechanic girlfriend might have had something special go down!  Anyways, this whole series is an absolute must read; one of my very favorites and I cannot wait until the next one.  Caleb?  Mason?  Who will it be?!
