Kendall Ryan masterfully brought the grumpy-sunshine trope to life with irresistible charm and sizzling chemistry in Main Character Energy, a light-hearted small-town romance. When Andi Callahan, the town’s sharp-witted and somewhat reclusive morgue tech, finds herself on the losing end of a bet with Cole Hartley, the town’s beloved firefighter and paramedic, their playful wager sparks a workplace romance that’s as humorous as it was heartfelt. Expertly contrasting Andi’s reserved nature with Cole’s warm, persistent optimism, Ryan built a delicious slow-burn connection between them that crackled with their black cat/golden retriever attraction.
Set against the backdrop of their cozy, close-knit community, their journey from reluctant acquaintances to passionate partners is filled with witty banter, laugh-out-loud moments, and genuine emotional depth.
