Wild Card by Lila Monroe Review

4.5 SMOOCHES!

SYNOPSIS:

‘The Wedding Date’ gets a sexy twist in the new hilarious rom-com from Lila Monroe!

Is there anything worse than playing maid-of-honor to your bitchy college nemesis? Try it when she’s marrying your DAD! Olivia Chambers doesn’t know what she’s done to deserve this karmic retribution, but she needs a date to the wedding from hell – and fast. She’s used to matchmaking billionaires, but now she needs a Prince Charming of her own. Someone handsome and famous enough to make bridezilla and her minions drool with envy…

Someone like hottie ex-NFL star Ryan Callahan.

Ryan is looking for love. Well, the fake kind. He needs the perfect woman on his arm to woo investors for his superstar new business venture, but nobody is scoring that touchdown… until elegant, sophisticated Olivia comes to him with a proposition. She’ll play his perfect date – if he’ll play hers.

The deal is simple! Or is it? Take one week in the Florida Keys, a dose of sizzling sexual tension, a madcap wedding, and some seriously humid frizzy hair, and Ryan and Olivia have the recipe for disaster… or maybe the time of their lives.

But can Olivia let down her guard long enough to let Ryan sweep her off her feet? And will Ryan take his eyes off the (business) prize long enough to see what’s right in front of him?

Find out in the hot, delicious new novel from Lila Monroe!

REVIEW:

I’ve enjoyed every single one of Lila Monroe’s romantic comedies that I’ve read, and I’ve read quite a few of them. She effortlessly blends together heat and humor, keeping her plots low on the angst and drama to achieve a light-hearted, easy-reading romance. One of the things I love most about Monroe’s writing style is how she pulls me right there into it with vivid descriptions and interesting details. She brings all of this together with imaginative storylines, fun side characters and sexy romances that result in entertaining reading experiences.

Wild Card is the third book in her Billionaire Bachelors series, and I’ve been looking forward to this book since the tease at the end of Hot Daddy. Monroe’s spin on the fake boyfriend genre is pretty much everyone’s worst nightmare with the heroine’s father preparing to marry her college nemesis. Olivia has made an appearance in both of the first two books of this series as the owner of the discreet, high end, date-for-hire service that paired up the previous two couples, but Wild Card is a standalone and it’s not necessary to read those books to enjoy this one.

Olivia has been working with the super picky, hard-to-please, former pro-football player, Ryan, to secure a classy, educated, entertaining, beautiful woman to be at his side during some important business negotiations. Olivia prides herself on her success rate, but she’s running out of options for him. Meanwhile, she needs a date for her father’s wedding, and it just so happens to be the same week as Ryan’s meetings in a nearby locale. The idea forms, and Olivia agrees to be his plus-one if he’ll be hers. What they didn’t expect, though, was the attraction between them and the fact that what they thought they knew of each other from their previous dealings wasn’t exactly accurate. There was no fighting this kind of chemistry, and it was quite a ride as business turned to pleasure between the two of them.

Laugh-out-loud funny and fanning myself sexy, Wild Card by Lila Monroe was a whole lot of fun to read and gets 4.5 smooches from me!
