Can R.S. Grey write a bad book  . . . Nope! The Allure Of Julian LeFray takes a standard boss / employee formula and makes it feel brand new. So much of this story felt comfortable and familiar while so much of it felt fresh, fun and addicting.

“When I’d packed my bags and left for greener pastures, I’d known that my decision had come with strings attached. Unfortunately, it now looked like those strings were more like chains.”

Josephine is following her dreams and has landed herself in New York City. Desperate for a job with her bills piling up she accepts a position as a personal assistant to Julian LeFray, brother to a famous designer and former silent partner. Julian is running his sisters design company while she is in rehab. Even though he is attracted to Jo from the moment he meets her, he also can see that she is perfect for the job.

“The murky swamp I was wading through with Josephine was asking for trouble. But Josephine was different. She was my friend. She was my very hot friend. She was my very hot, very unattainable friend.”

The trouble starts when Julian and Jo form a true friendship. After helping her up onto the tailgate, I

grab the wine and two glasses. When I join her in the bed of the truck, I pour

us each a cup and then lift my glass up to hers for a toast.

 

“Here’s to first dates.”

 

After clinking her cup with mine, she

takes a delicate sip, and the rumble in my chest comes unexpectedly as she

swallows the wine.

 

As if on cue, the radio changes, and the

first twangs of Jackson Young’s “If It Ain’t Too Much To Ask” drift out across

the lake.

 

After we set our cups down on the edge of

the truck bed, her arms wrap around my neck. My palm splays over her lower back

as I tuck the sweetness of her body against mine.

 

“You makin’ it a habit of wooing me with

your dancin’ skills, cowboy?” She laughs, and the way it mixes with the song

has to be the most heavenly thing I’ve ever heard.

 

My cheek brushes hers as we dance closer.

“That depends.”

 

“On?” Her breath whispers against my ear.

 

“If it’s working or not.”

 

She laughs again, and with God as my

witness, I’m a lucky bastard to be holding her right now. “It might be,” she

teases.

 

Her body was made for mine. Pressed

together, we’re even more perfect. Strawberry wine dousing our inhibitions in

wild desire.

 

The chorus to the song is coming up, and

knowing I don’t suck at least half as much as she does, I sing softly into her

ear, albeit still out of tune. She joins me, singing adorably off tune into my

ear. “I know it ain’t an easy life,

people can tell you that”—She hums along, folding her body closer around

mine—“but to ask for a little bit, just a

little bit back, If it ain’t too much to ask..”

 

“If

it ain’t too much to ask,” her voice sings adorably

off tune into my ear.

 

I chuckle, and she reaches down to elbow

me in the side before her eyes find mine once again.

 

“If

it ain’t too much to ask, cowboy…I could really go for that kiss right about

now.” She tries to sing along with the song,

but by adding her own words, she fails miserably.

 

But it’s the thought that counts.

 

Do I hate that she felt she had to ask for

it? Bet your ass I do. Will it stop

me from giving her what she wants? Not a

chance in hell.

 

Tipping my invisible cowboy hat towards

her with one hand, I put the other in the hair at the base of her neck.

“Nothing you ask will ever be too much, London.” With that, I give in to the

greatest temptation I’ve ever had and every desire I’ve ever dreamed of.

 

It’s only with unique restraint that I’m

able to keep my lips from fully crashing down onto hers. Instead, I take her

softly, certain I’ve died and gone to heaven at the first taste of her. When

she whimpers, the greed in me takes the opportunity to slip my tongue into her

mouth, claiming all she’ll give me. Her hands pull at the base of my neck,

desperate to have me closer as the heat in our kiss grows deeper as the song

comes to a close.

 

After breaking apart, I rest my forehead

on hers, running my thumb across her bottom lip. Then I sing the very last

line, holding her close.

 

I kissed the prettiest girl I’ve every

laid eyes on while dancing on the tailgate of my truck in the middle of

nowhere, and it was the best thing that’s ever happened to me.

Sexy, witty and fun Change Rein is a fast read that you won’t be able to put down. Anne Jolin is a talented writer who grabs your attention from the start and has you so engrossed in her stories that you don’t even realize that you have ignored the real world for hours while you fell in live with her characters.

“He’s stolen every though from my mind, all of which now belonging to the cowboy heart throb coming my way.”

When London’s Olympic career ends with a crash and a bad interview leaves her all over the gossip pages, she returns home to help run her family stables. Branson had become obsessed with the girl sh saw on TV and in the pages of magazines and even before meeting her feels an intense connection (don’t judge just go with it) but he needs to meet her in person. When a fire at his stables gives him the perfect opportunity to be near her by boarding his horses on her family farm he finds that the connection he feels is not just in his head but intense and real and definitely felt by London from their first meeting.

“If anyone could hear the way I am thinking about her, they’d send me to the nuthouse. I am pretty sure I’m in love with this woman, even though I am only meeting her for the first time. Even I’m not ignorant to how absolutely crazy that sounds.”

I know not everyone is a fan of insta-love I personally am not bothered by it and actually enjoy the manner in which Branson even jokes how ridiculous it all was but still acknowledges the fact that he cannot change that this is how he feels. Branson is all kinds of crazy billionaire and boy did I love it for him. One part stalker, one part sex god and one part loving caring man he is both someone I was weary of and rooting for all at the same time. He kept me interested and eager to see where it was all going and I found myself pleasantly surprised at how everything played out in the end.

“I’m not here to mess around. I’m here to make her mine. Even if I come across like a jackass while doing it.”

The only thing I could say about this book is that I wish it was longer. I loved the characters and story so much I wish I had more time to connect with them and for them to connect with each other. Not at all something that should deter you from buying this book but still something worth mentioning.

Change Rein is an intense and exciting start to a series I am incredibly excited about. Supremely sexy and a quick read this is one book you don’t want to miss.

 “Are you saying what I think you are?” I asked, my mind still holding me back from pushing him back on the couch to give him what he seemed to be begging for. My fingers tangled through his hair, holding him so his face was barely an inch away from mine. I feared that, if I let go, the trance would be broken and I’d never know what it felt to press my body against his.

 “Yeah, I think I am.” Throwing caution to the wind, I placed my hands on his shoulders and shoved him back. His wavy hair felt like silk under my fingers as I plundered his mouth with a crushing kiss. He moaned as his hips bucked against mine, just as desperate for release as I felt. A surge of connection jolted through my body, from my mouth all the way down to my cock, urging me to claim him. There’d be time for regrets later, but if this was what Mason wanted, I would be the one to give it to him.

About the Author:

Sloan Johnson is a big city girl trapped in a country girl’s life. While she longs for the hustle and bustle of New York City or Las Vegas, she hasn’t yet figured out how to sit on the deck with her morning coffee, watching the deer and wild turkeys in the fields while surrounded by concrete and glass.

When she was three, her parents received their first call from the principal asking them to pick her up from school. Apparently, if you aren’t enrolled, you can’t attend classes, even in Kindergarten. The next week, she was in preschool and started plotting her first story soon after.

Well, it’s been a good while since I’ve read an m/m book. And I’ve really only read one. Even though I am inexperienced in m/m books, I found these characters hot! I am a baseball girl! I love a hot, sexy, baseball player and this book had 2! Mason and Sean want to be accepted in the MLB and not be shunned. It’s America’s Favorite Pastime. How can two men on opposing teams be gay, let alone be in a relationship? Will these two be able to go up to bat for one another when a crazy ex, intense feelings, and dreams come to play?
Let me begin by saying the sex scenes were oh so very hot! Do not read in public! Just need to throw that in there! I felt the emotions between these two. I could feel the concern they felt for one another. It’s a big deal to be in the spotlight but to be a macho baseball player and have different sexual preferences isn’t heard of.  The one negative for me was when Sean kept telling Mason that he is going to have his taste and not want him be next day. If it were me, and I had a guy telling me that, well it’d be enough to push me away. But lucky for Mason, he stuck around and their relationship was perfect. I loved the supporting characters, Jason, Mason’s parents, and Sean’s sister. I was happy with the outcome of the story and don’t miss out on the epilogue! From a baseball loving girl thats enjoys steamy m/m scenes, I give Wild Pitch 4 smooches!

“How do you know we’ll last seven dates?” I ask.
“Good point. I probably won’t be able to put up with you for that long.” I know he’s teasing. But ugh. Damn him and that smile.
I throw my arms around his neck and crash my lips into his. His body tightens, maybe from surprise, but it takes less than a second for him to relax. He strips me of my control, pushing me up against the brick wall, his body heavy against mine. Even with the rain sloshing between us, his hands find my cheeks. His tongue sweeps across my lips.
I’ve changed my mind.
I’ll bring him upstairs.
I don’t give a shit what Aspen does. I want him. I need him to keep making me forget.
“Come up,” I say in almost nothing but a breathless whisper.

Review

I am absolutely in love with this series.  JB Salsbury writes some excellent fighter books and I have been dying to get my hands on Mase’s book.  I am so glad that it lived up to my expectations but it was totally not what I expected, that is for sure.  I never envisioned a stripper for good boy Baywatch but holy moly it worked!

You meet “good guy” Mase in the previous books as well as promiscuous Trix (remember, she is Gia’s stripper roommate from Fighting to Forget).  They seemed like the most unlikely of couples and while at the beginning of the book you get the impression that they cannot stand each other, eventually the sexual tension gets super hot and you realize that not all is at it appears.

“She’s like a Rubik’s Cube; the more I twist her around in my head, the less she makes sense.”

See Trix has secrets and there is pretty much a calculated reason for everything she does.  She is a tough bad ass chick hell bent on revenge and I really ended up liking her character.  I admit, in the beginning I had trouble, but the more I read and learned her, the more I liked her.

“For me, nakedness doesn’t equal vulnerability.  It’s strength in its purest form, used by women since the beginning of time, and I’d be an idiot not to take advantage of it.”

OK, so this book was sexy, well written and it featured fighters so really how could you go wrong but all of that was not the best part for me.  The second half of this book was just freaking banging and that is because of the mystery.  The coming together of things.  Mase’s and Trix’s worlds colliding in the strangest and best of ways.  I was hooked and could not put it down.  This book is damn good addition to this amazing series!
