Addyson

Life just threw me a curveball. I have to find a new place to live, but it must be in-district, because my son has his heart set on riding the bus to his first day of kindergarten.

When my brother’s sexy best friend suggests we move in with him, I have to remind myself the offer was for his spare bedrooms… not his bed.

Graham was my childhood crush and being in proximity with him is bringing back all kinds of feelings I thought were long gone. Looks like this time, he’s experiencing them too.

The problem is, now I have a son to think of. We’ve been through enough, and I can’t risk his heart… or mine.

Graham

My gorgeous new roommate is off limits. Not only is she my best friend’s little sister, she’s a single mom looking for help… not a hookup.

From the moment she’s under my roof, sparks fly, and suddenly the girl I’ve known my whole life becomes the woman I want long term.

I know I should stay away. Addyson deserves better than sneaking around, but she’s afraid to give me more. Plus the little boy she’s trying to protect… he’s already stolen my heart.

To let her get away… let them get away, would be a crying shame.

He doesn’t do relationships. He definitely doesn’t fall in love…

Put a finger down if you’ve ever been a single woman who got stuck in a New York City elevator in the middle of a summer blackout with your former high school sweetheart—whom you haven’t seen in years—while pregnant with a baby that isn’t biologically yours. And you can’t believe how handsome that blast from your past is, so you unwittingly flirt with him a little even though your life is so crazy complicated you’re barely keeping your head above water, but everything about him makes you think you could totally still be in love with him.

*puts a finger down*

What? Just me?

Needless to say, my current status is thorny. And no, I didn’t miss how close that word is to another one.

Even though he’s the epitome of tall, dark, and incredibly handsome, Remington Winslow has been a single bachelor for most of his life. It’s clichéd and basic—until you consider the fact that once upon a terrible time, he got left at the altar.

He doesn’t do relationships. He definitely doesn’t fall in love.

And I’m just trying to survive a tangled web of unexpected motherhood and running one of the top real estate firms in the city that never sleeps.

He’s the jaded guy who doesn’t want to settle down, and I’m the career-focused woman with more baggage than a 747 can hold.

We’re just two friends who used to be in love.

Now, if someone would tell my hormones I’m not a teenager anymore, I’d be set.

EXCERPT:

My fingers run across the screen quickly, and I don’t even bother looking up before stepping inside the elevator—and bumping right into another human.

He grunts as he catches my momentum by the tops of my arms, and I nearly jump into another dimension.

“Oh my gosh!” I cry, embarrassed by my rudeness. “I’m so sorry. I wasn’t paying attention at all.” Honestly, I’m still kind of not as I finish typing a message to my worthless assistant, but once I hit send, I tuck my phone into my purse, ready to give him my full attention.

Or, at least, as much as my mortification will allow.

I cringe and look up into crystalline-blue eyes then, just as a smile is curling onto the handsome stranger’s face. But it only takes a millisecond for me to realize he isn’t a stranger at all. Truth be told, he’s as little a stranger as a man can be—my first real love and the man I gave my virginity to when I was sixteen years old. It seems like a lifetime ago and just yesterday all at once, but the memory of his gentle hands coaxing my nervous hips up to meet his is the kind of thing you don’t forget. No matter how many years have gone by.

“Maria?” he asks, his smile deepening further, if you can believe it.

Me, though? I’m nearly speechless. Because I haven’t seen my high school sweetheart Remington Winslow in two f*cking decades.

And yes, trust me, if you got an eyeful of everything that Remy is now, you’d know it absolutely deserves the use of the f-word. Same strong jaw, same intense eyes, same full lips and dark hair—somehow, he looks as good as I remember. Maybe even better.

Goodness, he’s aged well.

“Remy.” His name passes over my tongue and has the power to bring back so many memories of the past.

Is it true what they say about your first love?

 That you’ll always love them?

REVIEW:

When I need to read something that’s guaranteed to make me laugh, make me smile, something light-hearted and sexy and romantic, Max Monroe is one of the first authors that comes to mind. There hasn’t been a single story of theirs that I haven’t thoroughly enjoyed. Their romantic comedies are always hilarious, but they also pack a one-two punch of steam and story. With their imaginative, creative plots, endearing characters in romances that are as heart-pounding as they are heart-tugging, Max and Monroe hit the mark every single time. Skimming the line of ridiculous, their brand of humor is of the laugh out loud variety, so considered yourself warned should you find yourself reading one of their books in public.

The Redo is the fourth and final book in the Winslow Brothers series and is Remy’s story. A jilted groom, Remy is moody, broody and extremely anti-commitment. Maria has overcome a lot, and she’s come out the other side as a focused, career-driven single mom—with a heartbreaking twist. Remy and Maria were high school sweethearts who went their separate ways. Decades later, at a pretty inopportune time, fate steps in puts them back together. This is where the fun begins as this relationship is revived.

The Redo was an entertaining mix of sweet, sexy romance and smiling from ear-to-ear humor that I crave from Max Monroe. An absolute pleasure to read, I devoured Remy and Maria’s story with a racing heart while I swooned in my seat on the sofa. Five smooches from me for The Redo by Max Monroe!

COVER REVEAL: Moody by Penelope Ward

MOODY, an all-new contemporary romance from New York Times Bestselling Author, Penelope Ward, releases August 22nd! Check out this gorgeous cover!

Title:  MOODY
Author:  PENELOPE WARD
Genre:  STANDALONE CONTEMPORARY ROMANCE
Cover Design:  LETITIA HASSER, RBA DESIGNS
Photographer:  LEDA & ST. JACQUES
Model:  PHILIPPE LEBLOND
Release Date:  AUGUST 22, 2022

From New York Times bestselling author Penelope Ward, comes a new standalone novel.

The day I showed up to Dax Moody’s sprawling home, I had no idea what was coming.

As a traveling massage therapist, I was used to entering the houses of strangers.

But this assignment was different from any before it.

From the outside, I’d correctly assumed the owner was rich. What I didn’t realize was that he would be younger than I’d imagined, single, stunningly gorgeous, and mysterious.

Despite the fact that Dax had booked a massage, it never actually happened, since our first appointment was unexpectedly cut short by a comedy of errors.

Certain I’d never see him again after that day, I’d done nothing but think about the captivating man.

To my surprise, he called a second time. That appointment, we talked a lot, developing a stronger connection. But once again, there was no actual massage.

The man I now affectionately called “Moody” kept calling me to come back.

It took three times before I finally gave him the massage he’d ordered. Let’s just say it was challenging to keep things professional. I was extremely attracted to Dax, and by that time, I was falling hard.

Eventually, I’d find out why he’d been so aloof, the reason why he and I could never be together.

Our story was supposed to end there, but it didn’t.

Instead, I was left perpetually longing for a forbidden man.

BLOG TOUR: The Boss Project by Vi Keeland

THE BOSS PROJECT, an all-new enemies-to-lovers workplace romance from #1 New York Times Bestselling Author, Vi Keeland, is available now!

You know what they say about choices: Some we regret, some we are proud of…

The first time I met Merrick Crawford was during my job interview.

Well, technically, I’d met him twenty minutes earlier when he’d barged into a fitting room a few doors down from my appointment.

I yelled.  He yelled.  After an argument while standing in my bra, I proceeded to smash the door into the gorgeous jerk, trying to yank it shut.

As you might imagine, I was freaked out when I discovered that the rude guy was my potential new boss.

Yet he didn’t seem to recognize me. Or so I thought…  Until we wound up bickering again during my interview and he told me to go sniff my armpit.

Okay, so maybe I hadn’t exactly been changing when he walked in on me.  In my defense, I’d been stuck on a hot train for two hours and wanted to make sure I didn’t smell.

I obviously didn’t expect to get the job. But somehow an invitation to a second interview arrived in my inbox.

Before I left, I asked to see Merrick.  I needed to know why I was even in consideration after our disastrous start.

Turned out, Merrick only wanted to hire me because I was the least competent candidate.  It seemed his board was making him fill the position, against his wishes.

I didn’t really want to work in a place where my boss expected me to fail.  But I figured maybe I’d enjoy proving him wrong. It was a little thing I dubbed the boss project.

What I wasn’t prepared for was that there would be other things I’d enjoy doing to Merrick Crawford.

Getting involved with the boss wasn’t the smartest choice.

But you know what they say about choices: Some we regret, some we are proud of.  I just had no idea where this one was going to land.

REVIEW:

On the heels of a humiliating breakup, Evie is starting over. First up, a new job. As it turned out, she was hired for the wrong reasons. I loved Evie. She was smart, sharp and she was not afraid to give as good as she got. Merrick was the CEO of the company Evie worked for, and while they tried at first to keep things professional, chemistry like theirs was hard to deny. But Evie was guarding the tattered pieces of her heart, and Merrick had some seriously heartbreaking baggage, and as a result of that, he’d been unwilling to open himself up to the possibility of a relationship. Then he met Evie, and it was impossible for him not to let her in, and in doing so, for the first time in years, he finds himself wanting more.

I loved how their relationship began with playful, witty banter laced with sexual tension. Close proximity, undeniable attraction and a meddling grandmother all collide in to a budding relationship. While they were trying to proceed with some caution, they were just so well matched. There were some stumbles and a huge set back before they took that final leap of faith. I felt all the feels as I cheered for this couple the whole way through.

I was swept right up into Merrick and Evie’s romance from the minute he caught her in a compromising position. The Boss Project was a heartwarming, heart-healing love story full of hope, passion and emotion. I love Vi’s work, she always gives her readers well-written, well-developed, witty and sexy stories, and it was no surprise that this book was all of that—and then some. Five smooches from me for The Boss Project by Vi Keeland!

I didn’t mean to say I was engaged to a hot billionaire–it just slipped out.

In my defense, I’d had a really bad haircut, a really strong drink, and I was trying to save face in front of the Mean Girl at my high school reunion.

Lucky for me, I happen to know a hot billionaire. Hutton French and I have been friends forever, and even though big social gatherings are not his thing, I called him from the coat closet and begged him for a favor–show up and play my fake fiancé for the night.

Except that word of our engagement spreads like wildfire. Our families are ecstatic. We’re front page news. My little food blog is launched into the stratosphere.

Of course, I offer to set the record straight right away, but Hutton wants to give it a little time–the phony engagement will keep his matrimony-mad mother and every matchmaking granny in town off his back.

He even suggests I move in with him to make the ruse more real.

And we don’t stop there.

We practice kissing. Undressing each other. Saying things–and doing things–we’d never dare if we weren’t pretending. Because it’s all for show, right? We’re just role-playing. Hutton doesn’t want a real relationship, and I don’t want to get hurt. But the more time we spend faking it, the more I start to wonder.

Could Hutton French and I actually be right for each other, or is it all just one big tease?

EXCERPT:

“Want something to drink? Whiskey or scotch?”

“No, thanks. Mostly I just want to take these heels off.”

“Leave them on.”

I was already bending down to unbuckle one ankle strap. I looked up and saw him standing there with his glass in his hand. “What?”

“Leave them on. And come over here.”

I straightened up and took one tiny step.

“On your hands and knees.”

My breath caught. I could feel his eyes on me. Instantly I understood what this was, and even though I was a little nervous, I wanted to play along. I wanted to please him this way.

The only problem was, I wasn’t entirely sure I could get to my knees in this tight dress. But I said a quick prayer and dropped to my knees on the carpet in one smooth motion. Thankfully, the dress material had some stretch, and the seams didn’t pop.

“Good girl,” he said quietly, igniting a firestorm in my blood that surprised me. “Now come here.”

My heart thrummed fast and loud as I lowered my palms to the floor and slowly closed the distance between us. I’d never done anything like this in my life—who am I right now?—but I liked the way it made me feel.

Tempting. Seductive. Alluring. I’d never thought of myself that way before, but here and now, in this tight little black dress with the red satin heels, crawling toward a gorgeous, powerful man in a suit in our Manhattan hotel suite? My billionaire fake fiancé? It was easy to imagine I wasn’t myself at all.

When I reached his feet, I sat back on my heels and looked up. Our eyes met. His lean, muscular silhouette looked imposing above me. Even that rebel lock of hair had been tamed into submission tonight.

He took another sip of his drink and set the glass on the table. Pulled the chair at the head of the table aside. Loosened the knot in his tie. “Are you okay?”

“Yes.”

“If there’s a point tonight where you are not, you should tell me.” He slipped the tie from his collar.

I swallowed hard. “Like a safe word?”

His mouth hooked up on one side. His hand freed the top button of his shirt. “You already have a safe word?”

“No,” I said quickly. “I’ve never needed one before.”

“You do now.” He undid a second button. “So what will it be?”

Of course, I couldn’t fucking think of anything, and I panicked.

“Roy Kent,” I blurted.

He cocked his head, his hand still on his shirt. “Who’s Roy Kent?”

“Never mind. I’ll think of another one.”

Do not say Oklahoma.

Do not say bumblebee.

I racked my brain for something else. “Romeo,” I said breathlessly. “That’s what I’ll say. Romeo.”

He set his tie on the table and offered me a hand.

Placing my palm in his, I rose to my feet. “Is anything going to hurt?” I asked, picturing whips, chains, ball gags, metal cuffs and clamps, shiny rubber gloves.

“I don’t need to inflict pain to feel in control, if that’s what you’re asking.”

“Okay. Should I—”

But that was all I got out because he spun me around and clamped a hand over my mouth, pressing his body tight against my back.

REVIEW:

I adored  Melanie Harlow’s Cloverleigh Farms series, and I am absolutely loving the romances of the second generation of characters in that series. Full of all kinds of feels, these stories are have been wonderfully sexy, swoony, romantic escapism reads that I cannot get enough of! Harlow is clearly in her element when penning a small-town romance, and her endearing characters, charming communities and passionate love stories are precisely the kind of feel-good stories I want to read right now.

Friends-to-lovers stories is one of my favorite trope elements, and Tease was a heart-tugging one dating back to the hero and heroine’s childhood. Felicity and Hutton were quirky, nerdy childhood best-friends who bonded as adolescents, and when Felicity sticks her foot in her mouth leading up to high school reunion, Hutton has to ride in to her rescue. Between shopping for a ring and practicing kissing, their fake relationship morphs into something very real, and I was there for every second of that shift! They were the kind of couple you just couldn’t help but root for, and I was cheering them on every second of the way.

Tease was such a heartwarming and sexy love story—I loved every single moment of it. Hutton and Felicity have been friends fighting their pull for years, and this created the kind of longing that really tugs at your heart. Add in all of that explosive chemistry, the deep emotion and the fact that they were *this* close to what they both wanted, and this was a deliciously addictive, tender and romantic love story. Tease by Melanie Harlow gets 4.5 smooches from me!

Usually when you find out you have a stalker, you don’t fall in love with him.

But Banger Olivia Crest isn’t your normal, run of the mill, everyday girl. Banger is a truck driver who just so happens to know how to sling drinks in her spare time.

She’s had a bad hand dealt to her time after time, and the last thing that she wants is to go all in. At least, that’s until she meets the geeky biker with his shy looks, and his surprisingly awesome fighting skills.

Easton McKennick, ex-FBI agent and newest member of the Battle Crows MC, never really intended to actually reveal that he’d been stalking Banger since his early days in the FBI. In fact, he never intended to do anything at all when it came to the woman that held his heart.

That was, until she offered to be his fake date to a police ball that just so happened to be where his own stalker would be. To sell it that he was happy and he’d moved on from his previous relationship, Banger and Easton pretend they’re a couple.

All it takes is two hours for them both to realize that there’s not very much pretending going on.

The only problem is, Easton’s stalker put a bull’s-eye on their backs, and they don’t know how to fix it.

EXCERPT:

My knuckles brushed his lower belly, and I had to hold in the moan that threatened to spill from my lips at the hardness of his abdomen.

“How often do you work out?” I wondered.

He sucked in his gut and caused me to look up into his eyes as he said, “Why? Is my belly in the way? I haven’t gone in a few weeks.”

My brows rose. “You haven’t gone in a few weeks.” The deadpan way in which I said that had him chuckling.

“Yes. I don’t have time right now. If I do get to the gym, that’s when I lift. But mostly, I run and do cardio. Sometimes I run the stairs at work about ten to fifteen times. Pushups in my office. Sit-ups next to my desk. This body came naturally to me for the entirety of my life until I turned thirty… then it all started going downhill. If I don’t watch what I eat, I start getting man tits and a belly. Which is funny, because I keep the abs. It just looks like I’m pregnant behind the abs.”

I blinked at his fast, puked words and said, “Do I make you nervous, Easton?”

I’d meant it as a teasing, break the ice because I’m touching this man as I button up his shirt, kind of comment. I mean, the man never rambled when he spoke with other people. Just me.

But he didn’t answer it that way.

There was a long pause as I did up about three more buttons before he said, “Incredibly.”

I blinked, surprised that he’d answered that in the way he had.

“What?” I wondered. “Are you serious?” I finished the second to last button, then waited for him to reply.

His face was a light shade of red as he said, “Banger, I hate to break this to you, but you’re hot as fuck. You make me nervous as hell. But you’ll be happy to know, I’ve always had trouble talking to beautiful people. I never do well. I either say too much, or too little.”

Beautiful people.

I wasn’t…

“Easton, I’m just a normal woman,” I told him. “There is absolutely nothing special about me in any way, shape, or form.”

He scoffed, turned, and grabbed his tux jacket off of the hanger inside the closet door where a robe would normally be, and then handed it to me slowly. “I think you don’t own a functioning mirror,” he mumbled.
