Storms can’t last forever…can they?

For five long years, Rae Ryan has lived in a storm over which she has no control. Little by little, everything has been taken away from her—her job, her relationship, her best friend and her home. Plagued by nightmares and a terrible family secret, she carries her scars as much on the inside as she does on the outside.

Hart Booker, another disappointment from her past, returns to Bar Harbor and shelters her from the rain. He reminds Rae that forgiveness is possible, happiness can be found on the other side of darkness, and beauty rests beneath her scars. But a sinister figure lingering in the background seems determined to pull Rae back into a past she’s been trying to outrun. Can she survive the storm and become part of the light she so desperately desires? Or is she destined to remain Pulled Within?

Recommended for mature audiences due to explicit language, sexual abuse, disturbing situations, and drug use.

Excerpt

“Do you know what the rain is?” he asked.

I was curled in a ball in the corner of the couch. A candle flickered on the table. It was the only light in the house; we’d lost power from the storm. He’d even let me take the candle into the potty with me, but he told me not to flush. I kinda liked that. The noise the toilet made could be so loud and scary at night.

I pulled the blanket even tighter around me. “No…what is it?”

“It’s the tears from all the people who cried today. The sky pulls them out of all the tissues and sleeves and holds them up there until it’s full. Then, it comes raining down on us.”

A chill ran over me, covering my skin in tiny bumps as I remembered how mean the rain had gotten. It felt like our house had been shaking. “Why did the storm sound so angry?”

“The sky doesn’t just take tears; it also takes the sounds that people make. That yelling you did while you cried this afternoon came right back at us, didn’t it?”

I couldn’t control my temper sometimes. I wanted to. I tried really hard to. I just didn’t want Mommy to go to work because Darren got so sad whenever she left. And what made him sad, made me sad.

“So if I cry softly, it won’t thunder as much?”

“Come on over here, Rae.”

I glanced toward the rocking chair where he was sitting. The candle lit up his face and his open arms. With the blanket still around me, I tiptoed over to him. He pulled me onto his lap, tucking my legs into the side of the chair and wrapping his arms around me. We swayed back and forth.

“You’re a good girl. You have no reason to be shedding those tears, and especially no reason to be yelling like that.”

Back and forth.

Mommy said I was a strong girl, a smart girl. He always said I had the prettiest smile of all the girls he’d ever seen. Strong, pretty girls didn’t need to cry. Darren didn’t need to cry, either. I wanted to tell him that, but he was in his room. He was always in there. He said he didn’t like hanging out anywhere else in the house. He was so silly.

I stretched my hands out of the blanket and placed them on top of his. His knuckles were so rough and hard. Chapped like my lips after I cried. They held me tight, but it didn’t hurt.

“Rest your head on my chest and let’s see if we can get you to sleep. It’s past your bedtime, my good girl.”

I pressed my cheek against his shirt. It was soft. Much softer than his knuckles, and the hairs around his neck tickled my nose.

Back and forth.

“I want you to think of good things. Pretty things. No more rain tonight, only rainbows.”

His fingers moved out from under mine and he ran them through the loose strands of my hair. My eyes closed. My breathing slowed. His thumb dipped onto my neck, but the rest of his hand stayed in my hair.

Back and forth.

“You’re such a good girl, Rae.”

Back and forth.

Review

I Have to say that I really enjoyed this 2nd book of the Bar Harbor Series, the first book being Pulled Beneath.  I really…really loved the first book and was excited to start this second one.  This book did not disappoint..it was soooo good!!! Although you really will want to read the first book because…like I said it was really good.  I feel that this second book can be read without the first.. this book is a very heart felt story about Rae Ryan and the demons she is fighting currently and from her past.
For five long years, Rae Ryan has lived in a storm over which she has no control. Little by little, everything has been taken away from her—her job, her relationship, her best friend and her home. Plagued by nightmares and a terrible family secret, she carries her scars as much on the inside as she does on the outside.
Then she runs into one of her old boyfriends from her past.  Hart Booker, she is so shocked to see him walk back into her life.  She wants to push him away but he continues to keep fighting for her even tho she keeps pushing him back.  “You can trust me,” he said softly.  A laugh burst through my lips.  It was either laugh or cry…and laughing felt safer. “I did trust you, and you fucking broke me.”  His gaze turned intense.  “That was five years ago, Rae.”

Hart Booker, another disappointment from her past, returns to Bar Harbor and shelters her from the rain. This is one of those stories that you will feel everything that the characters are going through.  And I love the way that makes you feel!!!  I hope you pick this series up and read it.  Soooo good!!!

Synopsis

Imagine the worst day of your life. Immerse yourself in the details. How did you feel? Who were you with? What were the consequences?

Recalling my darkest day is as simple as typing a few search terms into a web browser. It only took thirty minutes for me to become the center of a media frenzy that caught the attention of an entire country.

So I hid.

Nine months later and I’m getting better. Moved two hours from home, landed my dream job, and met a delicious new guy.

Healing is that simple, right?

Wrong.

Note: New Point is the start of a standalone series with connected characters, but independent story lines.

Review

Zoe Baker has lived a life with tragedy. At the age of 10, her parents died in a car crash leaving her to be raised by her 21 year old brother, Blake. Zoe and Blake are more than brother and sister, they’re best friends. Blake is Zoe’s savior, father-figure, and confidant.

After landing her first job, Zoe suffered a tragedy that shook her to the core. She was left an empty shell of herself. Scared and desperate, Zoe decided she needed healing and to reinvent herself in the town of New Point. This is where she meets Miles. At her parents’ old beach house she will find new beginnings, new friends, a new life – easy healing, right? Maybe not…

Miles is devastatingly handsome. He is everything anyone could want in a man….but he’s been tainted by love before and is scared to let anyone in and trust completely. He knows there’s something different the moment he sees Zoe. It’s the innocence in her eyes that enraptures him. Will he be a strong enough man to let go and let her in?

I honestly have mixed emotions about this book. I enjoyed the characters, emotions, and romance between Zoe and Miles, but I felt that there could have been more. I didn’t feel that the tragedy that Zoe went through was as epic as it’s made out to be. Although everyone handles suffering and tragedy different, and one person’s greatest fear may be nothing to another, I still felt like something was missing. The writing didn’t pull me in and make it where I couldn’t put it down. I wasn’t enraptured by the story line like most.

I would give 3.5 smooches for New Point by Olivia Luck.

Review

Sheltered Alana Shelton attends a Reckless Beat concert with her best friend Kate, in Richmond, VA. The girls get a once in a lifetime opportunity to meet up with the band. Yet an unfortunate event places Alana in the care of Mitchell Davies, the lead guitarist. Mitchell is instantly attracted to Alana, she is not like the groupies that that throw themselves at him. Can he change his ways and settles down for a relationship? Or will he sacrifice love for his dream?
Mitch isn’t he only one with issues. Alana has a few of her own, an overprotective mother that has told lies in hopes of protecting her daughter. And the lies unravel while she is trying to figure out what her relationship with Mitch is.
Blind Attraction is a quick romance but has just enough dramatic events to keep you reading. There is one steamy scene that stuck with me and was a “first” that I’ve never read about before. Kudos for adding a different sex scene. Characters were enjoyable. Aside from the main characters, Blake was one I began to love. The whitty banter between the characters and Blake was really good. I don’t know if the author plans on writing a book for Blake, but I would definitely like to read about him and a good female lead. I want Blake to fall in love 🙂  If you want a good rockstar read for a weekend getaway, I would recommend Blind Attraction. 4 smooches.

“What lies beneath my veiled perfection is the ugly truth—my truth, my reality, my destiny.”

Vivian Graham has an acceptance letter into Harvard, a badass tattoo, loyal friends, ties to marijuana, a penchant for Dunkin’ Donuts, and her pesky V-card.

Everyday she takes the Red Line to her job at The Green Pot in Boston while her friends enter the coveted, black iron gates to higher learning. The ramifications from a tragic accident have put her life on hold while time marches on for everyone around her.

After graduating from Harvard Law, Boston native, Oliver Konrad, moves to Portland to start his career and his life. Three years later, after a horrific discovery, he returns home to trade in his three-piece suit for leather work boots and his suburban home for a condo in Cambridge.

All he brought back to the East Coast was an aversion to pillows and secrets he keeps hidden behind a mysterious locked door. Oliver’s days are predictable and his nights are lonely until he meets Vivian on the subway. Her long raven hair, green eyes, and mile-long legs are achingly sexy, but the way she “innocently” fingers and licks her Boston Kreme doughnut can only be described in two words—complete torture.

When their paths cross at every turn, laughter is abundant, friendship is easy, and love is unintentional. However, their future seems improbable.

Synopsis

During the month of October, 100% of the proceeds from Tattoos and Tatas will be donated to breast cancer awareness.

Claire and Liz have always had a friendship that defied the test of time, but when one of them is diagnosed with a disease that every woman fears, their bond is put through the wringer. How do you cope knowing your soul mate could be taken from you?

Filled with memories of their life long friendship, inappropriate behavior, bad tattoos and shaving cats, the two friends will realize that laughter really is the best medicine.

Tattoos and TaTas is not your typical love story; it’s a story of friendship and learning how to let go when something is beyond your control.

Review

“You know, Drew and I play mammogram all the time. I read about the importance of doing self-breast exams and of course Drew wanted to be helpful. He’s so cute!”  “Do I even want to ask what exactly ‘playing mammogram’ entails?” “Well. Drew dresses up like a doctor and I put on a robe. Then , he takes two dinner plates from the kitchen and he smushes –“

WOOT! What a amazing Fun and Emotional quick read! This novella was a great look at the ladies of the Chocoholic Series in their slightly older years as well as a great look back at them before all the craziness started. I had absolutely no idea what to expect going into this story but was prepared for it too make me cry more than it would make me laugh. Leave it to Tara to give me the perfect mix of both!

“Give it a rest, Claire. You’re not the one-night-stand type and that’s perfectly okay. One slut in a friendship is one slut too many.”

While the present part of the book was sad and even at times tough to read, the past was hilarious. I loved watching how Claire and Liz’s friendship, business and families came to be. Their antics are ones that I kinda wish I could have been part of. I want . . . no NEED, friendships as deep as these ladies. But watching one of them go through the hardest time of her life tore at my heart and then watching the other have to watch her best friend become sick just completely did me in.

“She doesn’t need you to fix her, Liz. She just needs you to be there for her,”

Now, all that being said Tara still found a way to inject her personal sense of humor into one of the most serious and difficult topics there is. Tattoos and Tatas was by far the most emotional story in the series but at the same time was super easy to read and love. I highly recommend that fans of the series jump in on this and start reading you won’t regret it!

“Fuck cancer. Fuck not having your tits anymore because you’re going to get bigger and better tits in a few weeks and those fuckers won’t try to kill you. You’re going to be fine because you have to be fine.”

But I don’t deserve her.

Have you ever had your heart shattered by the only person you’ve ever loved?
Tate was my destroyer.
But I still love him.

Everyone makes mistakes. But I keep asking myself one question. If it was a mistake why did it feel so right?

Review

“Unforgettable” is the 4th book in the “Undescribable” series but this is the first one that I have read. Overall it stood up pretty well as a standalone but there were some things that I was a little confused on. I felt a little out of the loop at times but overall enjoyed the story.

Missy has been in love with Tate since she was a teenager. So when they were both in Vegas having a great time and way too many drinks, Missy was more than happy to fall into bed with him! After an explosive roll in the hay, Tate walks away leaving Missy high and dry and broken hearted.

Tate has had a rough life and has more than his share of secrets. He’s known Missy for years now and sees just how beautiful she but he can’t help but fell like he doesn’t deserve her. After a momentary slip of judgement in Vegas, Tate knows he has to push her away for her own good.

But outside circumstance push these two back into each other’s lives. Tate and Missy have a strong attraction and an explosive passion. Can Tate put aside his insecurities and be with Missy? Is Missy willing to risk another catastrophic heartbreak?

Despite some confusion with the continued storyline from previous books, I really enjoyed reading “Unforgettable”. Tate is the perfect broody, sexy, bad boy, asshole, alpha male and Missy is the sweet but tough heroine who is ready to tame her man! The sex was hot and the storyline keep the pages turning! I definitely recommend this one and I may have to go back and read the other 3 in the series.

SEX! It all started with sex, between my parents. Personally I don’t

like thinking about it, but whatever works for you is a-ok with me. No judgment. The sex

happened in California and much of my life also occurred in that state until I moved from the

land of nuts (almonds), wine, silicon… boobs, and heavy traffic to the southeast US. Like most

writers I like to write, but let’s get back to sex. Eventually I married and gave birth to 2 small

By day I’m a biomedical researcher with focus on rare diseases. By
