Synopsis

As a physical sports therapist, Gail Bennett is accustomed to working with gorgeous athletes every day, but after falling for a few of these attractive men, she has been left heartbroken one too many times. When Gail’s hours at work are unexpectedly cut, she must find a way to continue helping her parents pay for her sister’s education. Reluctantly following her best friend’s advice, Gail takes on a roommate—with the one man she has been avoiding since the first time she laid eyes on him.

Damon Johnson loves a challenge, and he is not the type of man to back down when he wants something. From the first moment he meets Gail for dinner, he feels an inexplicable pull between the two of them. In his determination to have her, he finds himself helping her in any way he can.

Can Damon break through all the barriers Gail has so carefully placed around her heart and prove that he’s different? Or will Gail’s reservations keep her from falling in love?

One thought could change everything.

Review

A Beautiful Thought is book 5 of the Beautiful Series, yet it can be read as a standalone.

Gail is a physical therapist that has always worked hard. She is caring and kind and has always wanted to help everyone, especially family. When she receives some bad news from the job she loves, Gail worries she won’t be able to give her sister the help she needs. One lunch with her crazy best friend Abbey, may be the answer to her financial problems.  A roommate would help Gail, but not just any roommate would do. Damon, a handsome rugged architect, moves from Colorado to California, and is on the fence about staying around. Will these two succumb to their attraction? Or will trust and dreams get in their way?

I was whisked away in this lovely, sweet story. Gail and Damon couldn’t be more perfect for each other. They undergo real life problems. Gail is consumed with worry just because if things went sour with Damon, she would be in the same financial predicament. Not that the roommate situation was keeping their love glued together. I just loved how caring and loving Damon was. And how strong willed and independent Gail could be.

Romantic readers that enjoy a beautiful HEA will love this well written book. Oh and let’s not forget lovable characters as well! 4 smooches for A Beautiful Thought by Alicia Rae

My father was most certainly NOT an innocent man. As the leader of the Gypsy Brothers MC, he was guilty of many things. But he died for a crime that he didn’t commit, framed by an enemy within who then stole his club and everything he had ever worked to protect.

Including my innocence.

When Dornan Ross framed my father, he set into motion a series of events that could never be undone. My father was murdered by Dornan Ross and his sons when I was fifteen years old.

I’ve just turned twenty-one, and I’m out for blood. I’m out for revenge.

But I didn’t expect to fall for Jase, the youngest brother in the club.

If I think watching Michael die in front of me for a careless lie I created is bad, the aftermath is horrific.

Dornan is high, the blood on his hands washed clean away but still leaving invisible handprints all over my body that spell murderer.

Because it is my fault. I should never have used a real person’s name in my fake past; I should have just made one up.

It seems that the only thing that gets Dornan hornier than a girl auditioning for a job by screwing him is killing her supposed ex-boyfriend. The hours after he shoots Michael are possibly even worse than the night six years ago when Dornan and his sons took turns raping me. Because at least then I could struggle.

At least then I could scream.

Now, here, it is like I am in a hell that I will never escape. Six years’ worth of nightmares are coming to life in the space of a few incredibly torturous hours.

Dornan is high and he wants to fuck.

“What’s wrong, baby girl?” he keeps asking me over and over as I lay flat on my back, being fucked, unable to move.

I just have one question, baby girl.

After it has been going on for an hour or maybe more, I clear my raw throat.

“Stop,” I plead.

He doesn’t stop.

I push his warm chest away from mine. I can’t breathe. I threw up my breakfast in the shower as I watched Michael’s blood and pieces of skull rinse from my skin and drift lazily down the drain, gone forever. I am shaky and starving.

For a moment, I think he will stop, afford me a small rest before he starts up again.

“Please?” I ask him. “Please just stop for a minute.”

He doesn’t stop.

It’s the drugs, I realize. He is frustrated. He is hard and he is horny and the drugs are stopping him from having that release that he needs so desperately to calm down.

“Stop!” I yell, pushing his chest with all my might. Surprisingly, he doesn’t pin me down as I suspected he would, but draws himself out of me and rolls to the side, coming to a standing position beside the bed. I draw my knees up to my chest and watch in horror as he pulls a shiny black gun from his side table.

It is only now that I see his entire body is shaking, balanced precariously on the edge of an overdose.

“What did you take?” I ask calmly, sitting up on the side of the bed. I am alarmed. He can’t die, not now, not before he suffers for me. It would be too easy for him to just OD and die before I’ve made him regret ever meeting my father.

He doesn’t answer, just starts to pace the room, his cock still erect in front of him, his index finger nervously bouncing against the trigger of his gun.

“Dornan, you need to calm down,” I say, still in shock and not ready for him to shoot me, too. “You’ve taken something.”

“Too pure,” he says, “too pure. We gotta cut it down, cut it down–”

“Hey!” I say loudly, trying to cut through his incoherent monologue.

He swings around and presses the tip of the gun to my forehead. I gasp.

“Why did you come here?” he asks me, his breathing short and sharp. He is angry. Angry and peaking.

Stick to the story.

“I had nowhere else to go,” I say honestly, and it is true. I had nowhere else to go.

“You know what I did for you? The risk I took?” I nod.

“I know. Thank you for protecting me.” The words are pouring out of my mouth before I can even think. I will do anything for him to take the gun away from my head and calm down.

“I fucking risked EVERYTHING for you, and you don’t even care?”

Oh God. Oh Godohgodohgod.

Shame by Rachel Van Dyken Cover Reveal

Everything done in darkness, will eventually be brought into the light.

I ran, but all it did was keep me one step ahead of my past. I tried to start over; new name, new identity. But you can’t change your soul.

A fresh start at college was just what I needed. For a while, it worked. I was the party girl, the one that seemed confident, but it was a lie.

When guys kissed me–I felt only pain.

When they touched me–Nothing but fear.

Deep inside, every girl wants to be the beauty in the story, to find someone that will see you as their world.

But the truth? I was the beast. And as much as I wanted redemption, I wasn’t fool enough to think I’d ever get it.

Until he walked into my life.

I wasn’t prepared to fall for someone. My scars were too deep, the wounds too raw. But he offered me peace, he offered me security. I should have known it was just another lie–I should have known that falling in love with my professor was a bad idea.

But I was powerless to stop myself from falling.

And he was powerless to catch me.

Because the darkness finally caught up to me, and as fate would have it, a cruel twist almost bled me dry. But I’m stronger than I knew. I’m stronger than you think.

You think you know my story, but you don’t….after all everyone has Shame in their lives– and I’m no longer afraid to show you mine.

“Just hold still!”
I yelled, holding up my phone while Gabe gave me the finger. I grimaced and
dropped the camera away from my face. “Nice, thanks for that.”
“I’m a giver.” He
smirked.
Saylor, his wife,
smacked him on the arm and rolled her eyes.
“Ouch.”
I scrunched up my
face when he leaned in and took Saylor’s mouth with his, kissing her senseless
in the local Starbucks like they were doing a romance scene in a movie. I
coughed.
They didn’t pull
apart.
So I took a
picture.
I earned another
finger, but Gabe still didn’t dislodge from his wife.
“Whoa!” Wes’s voice
sounded from behind me. “They been at it long?”
“Are all newlyweds
disgusting?” I voiced aloud.
Wes moved around
the table with his wife, Kiersten, and gave me a goofy shrug. I wanted to roll
my eyes, but Wes was too nice and hot. Let’s not forget the hot part. Both he
and Gabe were like walking poster boys for GQ. Both blond, now that Gabe had
decided to dye his hair back to his original color. It was like staring at two
really bright superstars.
Hating them was
like hating the Easter bunny. Try all you want, but you’ll eat every piece of
chocolate in the basket, just you wait.
“So, classes?”
Kiersten leaned forward. “I heard you got stuck with that hot new psych prof.”
Wes growled low in
his throat.
“Down boy.” I
braced my hands on the table and laughed. “Besides he’s not that hot.”
“A girl passed
out.” Kiersten’s eyebrows shot up. “Like in class.”
“Dehydration?” I
shrugged, taking a sip of coffee.
“Or…” She leaned forward.
“…the rumors are true.”
“Rumors…” Gabe
backed away from Saylor, his lips swollen. “…are always based on truth.”
“So you really did
do a naked dance in your underwear last week after getting drunk downtown at
Pike Place Market?” I tilted my head and waited while Gabe rolled his eyes and
popped his knuckles. “Exactly.”
He opened his
mouth.
I took a picture.
With a grimace, he
snatched my phone away from me. “Never thought I’d have to tell you to lay off
the pictures, Miss Paparazzi.”
I slumped in my seat.
“It’s for an assignment with that hot professor.”
“Aha!” Kiersten
jabbed her finger at me. “I knew it.”
I pinned her with a
look. “Sarcasm, friend, sarcasm.”
“Boys get girls
pregnant,” Gabe offered, while Wes choked on the coffee he’d just stolen out of
my hand.
Serves him right!
“Don’t date them.”
“You’re going to be
a great dad.” I smiled sweetly. “What? You’re just going to lock your girls in
their rooms and go—” I mimicked his voice. “—uh, you see boy parts are bad,
they make girls have lots of babies, like rabbits, and you know how rabbits
make dad nervous and—”
“Hilarious,” Gabe’s
eyes narrowed. “And please don’t talk about kids yet…”
Saylor laughed
quietly next to him then squeezed his arm.
My heart dropped.
A very long time
ago, I’d wanted to be that for Gabe, then Taylor happened and well… I
shuddered, blocking out the painful memories, the things I’d done, the things
he’d done, the things we’d done.
“You okay?” Wes
asked, his voice soft. He was way too perceptive for my taste. If I’d wanted to
share, he’d be the guy I’d talk to, but I was a vault. Sharing meant admitting
my guilt, and admitting meant I’d probably go insane just like he had.
“Yeah…” I straightened
in my seat. “…I just don’t want to fail my class, and I need to write down
nonverbal cues and take at least one picture. And pretty sure I need to ace
this first assignment on account that I was late to my prof’s class, and I got
in trouble.”
“He spank you?”
Gabe’s eyes mocked across his coffee.
“Yes, Gabe,” I said
calmly. “Because that’s how they punish bad students here at UW — with a
yardstick and a smile.”
“I wish.” He
whistled. “What I wouldn’t give to have Saylor—”
I plugged my ears.
He threw his head
back and laughed while Saylor turned bright red and put her hand over his mouth
to shush him.
“So…” Wes ignored
Gabe as was his usual and leaned across the table. “…why don’t you take
pictures of people here in the coffee shop? I mean, ask permission, but most
people here are super interesting, right? Studying? Stressed out? Tired?” He
pointed to a guy in the corner. “He looks like he’s running on five cups of
coffee and one hour of sleep. Go ask, take the picture, make some notes,
project done.”
“You make it sound
so easy,” I grumbled.
He grinned. “I’m
Wes Michels.”
I hung my head
lower and grimaced.
“Phone.” He held
out his hand and stood.
Within minutes, not
only had he snapped two pictures for me but had taken notes on two pre-med
students who had stayed up all night cramming for what they’d assumed would be
a pop quiz, only to find out that they’d been in the wrong class on the wrong
day.
“And that’s why I’m
not pre-med.” Gabe shuddered.
“Really?” Kiersten
asked. “I thought it was because big words scared you?”
“Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious.
What now?” He nodded. “Keep talking, Kiersten, or keep walking.”
“Spell it.” She
smirked.
“So this
professor…” Gabe changed the subject. “If he tries anything, use the Mace or
the rape whistle.”
“Right.” I nodded.
“I’ll be sure to do that. In class. With a hundred other students. When he
looks at me cross-eyed.”
“Good,” he huffed.
“I was kidding.”
Saylor patted
Gabe’s shoulder. “Gotta let the baby birds out of the nest someday, Gabe.”

Synopsis

In this sexy new CALL series spin-off series by New York Times bestseller Emma Hart, enter the intense world of a no strings relationship and experience addiction like you never expected…

The moment I walked in to find Mr. Tall, Dark, Handsome, and Oh So British–my mind-blowing one night stand–as my photographer for the shoot that could change it all, I knew life was throwing me a curveball.
The moment he, Tyler Stone, walked into my best friend’s apartment, I knew that curveball was heading straight for my gut.
The hit comes in the form of a no-strings proposition… One that gives him utter control over my body.
If I surrender, that curveball is steadily en-route for a collision course with my heart.

He’s a sex addict. I’m a love addict.
This is temptation.

Review

I am so glad that I finally got the chance to read an Emma Hart book.  I have been meaning to for a while and with the arcs coming in left and right for us to review, I just didn’t get the time. So, when Wild Temptation came in, I snatched it up!  Finally!  I went into this blindly and I was so surprised.  Emma…you are one funny lady!

Tyler Stone is a sex addict.  Oliva is a love addict.  They weren’t supposed to have more than one night together but when Olivia shows up for her lingerie shoot and recognizes the sexy as sin photographer as Tyler, she just cannot help herself.

“This is unprofessional,”

Tyler has equal trouble staying away from Olivia and so the story takes off.

These two were just such a hot mess.  I adored their rivalry and banter.  Olivia is crazy hilarious, fly by the seat of her pants, and too much fun.  Poor Tyler, chasing her around and putting up with her crazy antics and ridiculous mouth just made me smile and giggle the entire book.

Take that, you sexy son of a bitch.

Boy, do I love Tyler too.  He is stubborn, headstrong, and determined to make Olivia his.  He is wealthy and masculine and oh so very sexy.  And just to make you fall in love with him even more, he filthy talks like nobody’s business.

“No. I want to control your body.  I want to make your heart pound and your body hum with pleasure.  I want to make you lose your breath.  I want to make your pussy throb, and I want to know it’s all because of me.”

Yep, ladies.  Tyler is the cream of the crop of book boyfriends and he is addicted to sex.  I don’t see a problem here at all.

Holy fucking dirty talk.

So, I am sure that you can tell by now that I really enjoyed my first Emma Hart book.  It was written really well and kept my attention the whole.  The characters are fun and  off the charts crazy, but I loved that.  I kind of can’t wait for book 2 in this series.

“No strings?” I say slowly. “Just… sex?”

“Yep.”

“Sex can get stringy.”

“Only if there’s bondage involved.”

“Will there be?”

“Do you want there to be?” He raises his eyebrows.

I fold my arms across my chest. “I’m not telling you all my secrets. You’ll have to work them

He steps into me, pulling my arms from my body. “Is that a yes?”

“That’s an I’m considering it.”

“No strings. No obligations. You won’t have to hang off my arm and look at me with doting

I do. There’s no denying that I want him. My body reacts to him instantaneously. To his looks,

“There’s a but,” I say softly, resting my hands against his chest. “There’s always, always a but.”

“Tyler.”

He smirks. “Okay, there’s a but. There will be no strings, but you have to do as I say. Always.”

The smirk drops from his face, and I swallow at the intensity his eyes bore into mine with. “In

“Then you can say no. When it comes to sex, I respect the word no.” He pushes some hair from

Excerpt

I pressed the button to my floor and it opened several seconds later. Silence crept between us but it wasn’t an uncomfortable one. It was sort of… nice. After taking nearly decades to find the hotel key in my pockets, I stuffed it into the lock of the door and stumbled inside, laughing at my own idiocy.

She followed in behind me, and I flipped the light switch. A dim light illuminated above her head and she smiled. “Well… you’re here,” she breathed.

“I am,” I said.

“Do you… need anything?”

“Nope…”I paused. “Well maybe just for you to stay.”

She let out a girlish giggle. “Montana, you know I can’t stay.”

“Why not?” I asked, stepping in.

She dared a step as well, angling her head and locking eyes with me. Bringing her hand up, she ran it across my cheek and a faint smile appeared on her lips. “Because it would be wrong of me to sleep with you.”

My dick pulsed. Her voice was smooth and seductive. It was sexy as hell with that accent. “Why would it be wrong?”

“It’s a long story. Just know it would be.”

“Don’t beat around the bush, Princess.”

She smirked. “I’m not. Maybe when you’re sober…”

I laughed, throwing my head back. “I guess that’s never then.”

“Well, then I guess we’ll never have that experience, huh?” She was teasing the hell out of me. Her voice. Her body… so warm and close. Fuck.

What made it worse was how she turned around and walked away, swinging her plump ass in those tight blue jeans. “I’ll see you tomorrow. Big show, right?”

“Yes,” I whispered. I couldn’t stop staring.

“Good…”She opened the door.

“Wait,” I called before she could make it out.

She lifted both brows, glancing over her shoulder. “Yeah?”

I walked towards her, licking my lips. “Tell me your name. I need to know it.”

She lowered her head, biting a smile. “If I tell you my name will you take it easy for the rest of the night?”

“I will… for you, Princess.”

She paused, batting her mascaraed eyelashes while running her eyes up and down the length of my body. Her smoky eyes then met mine, she stepped back, and a warm hand pressed against my chest. She stood on the toes of her high-heels and whispered, “Lauren Harkin. Don’t forget it,” she murmured. “Because if you do, I won’t tell you my name again… you’ll just have to suffer with not knowing the name of the woman that, in every way, intrigues you.”

My eyes stretched.

And she smirked.

And it was right there, in that moment, when she had me. It was in that moment when I realized I had to have her. I had to get her up under me. I had to dick her down at least once. She was begging for it, and my body wasn’t denying it. I wanted her and I wanted her something serious.

Fuck.
Shit, fuck, fuck, fuckity, shit-fuck!
My heart rate kicks up a notch and my

“Erm… sorry,” I raise my head slowly,
dreading looking at the guy, “officer…” my words trail off, not because I’m

Did you hear me?
I.
Can’t.
Breathe!
Why can’t I breathe?
Because I know this guy! Omigod, omigod,

“Azaria,” he says my name in a deep
rumbly voice that washes over my skin, making me feel like fairies are dancing

He leans his head down (way down, because

areas of my body.)
Oh, my God, he smells so good. My body,
completely of its own accord (I swear!) moves closer to him, making it easier
to get a better whiff of whatever body wash it is that makes me want to take a
chunk out of him with my teeth. My ‘gina begins to quiver; the walls vibrating
with fury at not having him the other night.
His head moves to the side of mine where
he whispers, “I missed you the other morning.” Holy donkey nuts his voice is
sexy.
Oh. My. God.
This can’t be happening. Nope. Not
happening.
No way.
“O- officer,” I stumble over my words
trying to think of something to say, and reminding myself that this, after all,
is a cop.
Not just any cop, of course.
Nooo…
According to his nameplate he is ‘Chief
Cole’. Are you kidding me!? Why
couldn’t he just be a gentleman and ignore the whole situation like a normal
American!? No, he goes straight for it. Don’t hold back.
Jerk.
Okay, now how do I play this? I obviously
can’t use the whole ‘Do I know you?’ routine. My ‘gina quiver made sure of
that. I can’t just walk out and ignore him… Can I? Hmm…
I don’t think, I’m capable of pulling off
the whole ‘Show- respect-to-the-officer-because-I’ve-had-too-many-run-ins-with-
the-law-and-I’m-a-bad-person’ routine either.
Okay. Well, that only leaves one option.
I step back, straighten my purse on my
shoulder, get a better grip on my box of rolls and look him straight in the eye
(with a polite, yet detached voice and face) and say, “Chief Cole. Nice to see
you again.”
And, ever so elegantly, I step around him
and head out the door.
Whew! Close one.
“Azaria, wait.”
Shit. He followed me outside! Now what do
I do?
Keep walking.
Yep. Just… keep… walking.
“Ree,” he says as his fingers wrap around
my upper arm, halting my awesome walking away skills.
He turns me around to look at him and I
do a quick peripheral scan of the area to see how many onlookers we have to
what is about to go down; not many. Yet.
“Did you really just walk away from me…
again?” he asks astonished.
“Did it look like I walked away from
you?” I ask, feeling a bit like a society snooty bitch and deciding to go with
it.
I notice a few people start to come out
onto the sidewalks to see what is going on. Great.
Well, they were bound to learn that I moved back sometime. May as well give
them the show they expect from me.
“Yeah. It did,” his voice and face are
completely serious.
“Oh, well. Then I guess I did,” I shrug
my shoulders and smile at him, this time sounding more like a dingbat valley
girl.
Someone call the shrink! Chief Cole is giving Ree
Dissociative Identity Disorder!

MeetTheAuthor
My first book, Darkness Deserved, released July/2013. It is the first book in the Shattering the Darkness Series.
I’m crazy and love my friends, family and booze. Yes. Booze. (Don’t judge me.)
I used to never read when I was growing up. My mother always tried to get me to read and I wanted no part in it. I figured why read when it’s going to be a movie. (Yes, like I said crazy.)
Well a few years ago I jumped on the Twilight band wagon. I’ve always loved supernatural movies and when I saw the previews I knew I wanted to see it. And see it I did. I immediately went out and bought the books and became hooked.
They came to me at a very special time in my life.
I discovered I loved to read and found my nitch in the paranormal and romance genre. I started a book club with a cousin and all of a sudden these thoughts kept assaulting my brain.
So I wrote them down. Then, deciding that I wanted to write, I contacted some wonderfully amazing women who helped me through the process. This is the result.
I love Breccan and Harper and hope you all do as well. The book is dark and graphic. It pushes the boundaries and will make you cry, (hopefully) laugh and (hopefully) fall in love.

Blurb:
I had a choice, and I chose wrong.
I thought I lost everything. But when the smoke finally cleared, I discovered that I wasn’t alone.
Father Sullivan was a force – a living and breathing force, a forbidden desire I couldn’t resist. I didn’t want to resist.  But I wasn’t the only one who wanted him, and by all accounts neither of us should have him.
I had decisions to make, secrets to uncover. Both would tear my heart, my life, and what was left of my family apart.
I wasn’t going to take any chances this time around. If I’d learned one thing during my life, it’s that death is the only certainty. It’s a matter of when, not if.  For every action, there is a reaction. For every choice, a consequence.
If I hadn’t chosen to live again, I would have never known what life could be like …
With the Father

Excerpt

“It looks like Princess Aurora found her soul mate. Who am I to stand in between them?”

“Do you believe that?” he asked, his voice solemn.

“What?”

“In soul mates.” He cocked his head to the side and looked genuinely interested in my answer.

Of course, I believed in ‘the one.’ I also believed that I’d already lost him. “I believe that there’s one special person that is the perfect fit, and that it’s no coincidence when we find them. You?”

“Certainly, some are better suited for each other than others,” he said, nodding to the dogs sitting side-by-side at our feet. “But I don’t believe in ‘the one.’” He leaned against the trunk of my car and eyed me as if he thought I was made of glass and his words would shatter me. He was right to wonder.

Jonathan had been my soul mate. We’d been very young when we’d met – just nineteen. Yet, I’d known immediately that he was it for me, that he was the one. In fact, I’d called my mother the next day and told her that I’d met the guy I was going to marry. There had never been anyone else and he’d felt the same way. If that wasn’t the definition of soul mates, I didn’t know what was.

Father Paul seemed to sense my feelings on the subject but barged ahead anyway. “Have you ever wondered where it comes from … the idea of there being just ‘one’ perfect counterpart for every person?”

“Walt Disney?” I asked, pointing at Princess Aurora.

He shook his head. “Actually, it originated from the Greek philosophy of Plato who believed that man and woman are made of one body and separated by the gods, forced to spend their lives searching for each other so that they can be complete.” He was silent for a moment before continuing, “Obviously that goes against what I believe.”

“Each of us is a complete person all on our own. You are complete person on your own, Grace. That was true six months ago, and it’s true today. You may not feel like it, but even without him, you are complete.”

I scuffed the toe of my shoe in the dirt while I considered his words, noticing that he’d purposefully framed his argument without mentioning God.

Father Paul was walking a fine line with me and he knew it. He was being very careful not to say something that he knew would push me away; yet, he’d still managed to get his message across.

He flipped his ball cap around so that it sat backwards on his head. The act had the dual effect of revealing his face – and the utter sincerity etched across it – and returning the Greek mythology-spewing priest beside me to a mere mortal man again.

I crumbled just a bit.

His mouth turned down as he squinted into the sun. “Of course, I’ve never been in love like you have.”
