Synopsis

My name is Izzy. I drink too much, am clumsier than a newborn foal, and my brain-to-mouth filter often malfunctions. My daredevil husband killed himself in a parachuting accident five years ago and my best friend Jack has decided it’s time I jump back in the dating pool. He’s perfectly happy to throw me in if I don’t listen. Just when things in the dating world start to heat up, my grandma dies. Only her knitting group of Jessica Fletcher wannabes is sure it’s murder. I’m not convinced but I’m always up for a bit of excitement as long as it doesn’t lead to a night in jail. Well, more than one night anyway. Will I miss my chance at love because I’m chasing imaginary killers? Did someone really kill grandma or am I and my merry band of geriatric thieves imagining things?

Review

This was a fun one! Not something I usually read but I enjoyed it! Izzy is a widowed woman who is trying to date again mix that in with being clumsy as hell and then the sudden death of her grandma and speculation of a murder it’s a whole lot of fun and entertaining!
“She actually used the words ‘conduct a search’. She must be OD’ing on detective novels.”
Izzy is grieving the only ‘family’ she had left but then gets slowly but surely pulled into the conspiracy of murder. So a group of old ladies, Izzy and her gay best friend play detective. But then there is actually a detective thrown into the mayhem too! I loved the group of women. They were hilarious especially Betty! They were feisty little things and the ones at the front of leading this whole “investigation”. I loved Noel! He’s a cop who is really interested in Izzy even after her clumsiness when ever they’re together. He is sweet and caring and then when he turns all alpha cop he’s sexy too! Over all he is just swoony!
“When I’m with you I feel alive. I never know what’s going to come out of that delectable mouth of yours. It feels like every second with is an adventure. No one’s ever made me feel that way before.”
This began a little slow I couldn’t connect really but the more characters introduced the more I loved it. I know this one is more about the mystery aspect but still the romance was added to it and I would’ve liked to see Noel and Izzy together without everyone else just to see them develop together. But still I really did enjoy it! I love shows like NCIS and CSI so I loved that kind of investigating side to it. Even more so that it was from a group of 70 something year old ladies who were hell bent on getting to the end of it. It was sweet, light and hilarious and kept you guessing!
Who murdered grandma?
Why?
Was it even a murder?
4 smooches for me!

  1. Thanks so much for taking the time to read and review Murder, Mystery & Dating Mayhem. I’m working on the 3rd book in the series right now and I’m trying to add more romance to it. Thanks for the suggestion!
