It messed me up to think about her.

My ex, Nicole.

The one who got away and the woman who still owned every piece of my heart.

From New York Times bestselling author Penelope Ward comes a new, STANDALONE novel…

Don’t say her name.

That was the one rule my bandmates followed, because they knew how much it messed me up to think about her, especially on tour.

My ex, Nicole.

The one who got away and the woman who still owned every piece of my heart.

After our divorce, I threw myself into the rock scene, trying to forget my heartbreak.

Three years after we split, a phone call from Nicole changed everything.

She told me her grandmother wasn’t doing well.

Mimi was still family to me, and she apparently had one wish before dying: to spend time with us—Nicole and me.

With Mimi’s caretaker away on vacation, it would be the ideal time for us to move in with her for a couple of weeks.

Of course, I couldn’t refuse.

But there was a catch.

Nicole apparently never told her that we’d gotten a divorce.

She hadn’t believed Mimi could handle it, because her grandmother loved me so much.

So, not only would I have to see Nicole again, but I’d be pretending to still be her husband.

Two weeks in a tiny house in a small town with the woman who broke my heart. Or was it me who broke hers?

It was complicated.

And it was about to be a heck of a lot more complicated sharing one bed in the guest room with a woman who wasn’t mine anymore.

While she was out of the room, I prepared her coffee just the way she liked it. I’d nearly forgotten just how much I loved taking care of her. I felt nostalgic for a moment as I poured in just the right amount of sugar. But taking care of her wasn’t my job anymore. I couldn’t help enjoying these little moments of delusion, though, while I still had them. In less than two weeks, we’d be apart again, and I’d go back to my life without her. This time here would seem like a dream.

Nicole emerged again wearing a cute, floral dress that was almost worse than her shirt with no bra. It had a low neckline and her beautiful breasts were practically busting out of it. I had to wonder if she’d selected that outfit to torture me. She’d also sprayed on a fresh burst of Egyptian musk. I licked my lips.

“I’m sorry. I didn’t realize my not wearing underwear was that noticeable.” She looked down at her chest. “I’ll cover up from now on,” she said. But the glimmer in her eye told me she had no real intention of accommodating my request.

Okay. She’s definitely f*cking with me. “You drive me crazy,” I growled under my breath.

Suddenly, my attention was diverted to Mimi’s room. I heard voices. I narrowed my eyes. “Who the hell is here?”

“I don’t know.” Nicole walked down to her grandmother’s room as I followed.

There was a woman standing there talking to Mimi.

“Hi there.” She smiled. “I’m Lori McFadden. I live next door.”

“Oh…” Nicole tilted her head. “Hello.”

“I hope you don’t mind. Adele gave me a key a while back, and I check in on her from time to time. It’s good to see you both. She’s always talking about her granddaughter and grandson-in-law.”

“Aren’t they the most beautiful couple you’ve ever seen?” Mimi beamed.

Nicole looked over at me. I was still fired up by her little dress and wanted an excuse to touch her. I decided to play the part for a moment. “Thank you so much,” I said. “It’s our pleasure to be here with Mimi.” I wrapped my arm around Nicole, bringing her close. She flinched at first but then relaxed her body into mine.

I rubbed my thumb along her waist.

Nicole squirmed and cleared her throat. “I’m sorry if I seemed surprised to see you here, Lori. I didn’t realize she’d given anyone a key.”

“Only recently. Just in case her worker can’t be here or is running late. She has my number if she ever needs me.”

Nicole nodded. “Well, I appreciate that so much.”

I tightened my grip around her waist and pulled her closer. “We appreciate that.”

Nicole looked up at me; her face was beet red, and I f*cking loved it. I leaned in and kissed her softly on the forehead. Her eyes were still slightly closed when I pulled back to look at her. As much as I wanted to hang on, I let go and put her out of her misery.

Nicole couldn’t get away fast enough as she rushed past me through the kitchen and into the bedroom. She leaned against the wall and crossed her arms. “Don’t do that again.”

My stomach sank. It hurt to hear her say that, even if I had crossed the line. “Don’t…what specifically?”

“Touch me.” She lowered her voice. “Don’t touch me again like that.”

That felt like a knife to the heart. “I thought we were pretending to be married,” I whispered. “Married people touch each other.”

Her chest heaved. “Yeah, well, I can’t handle that.”

“Your nipples can’t handle it, at least. They’re hard as f*cking rocks right now. It’s obvious why you don’t want me to touch you, Nicole. It isn’t that you can’t handle it. It’s that you like it. And you don’t want to like it.”

She looked down as her cheeks turned pinker by the second.

My voice was strained. “You tell me not to touch you. And yet you’re intentionally trying to torture me. That f*cking dress. You wore it on purpose because you knew it made your tits look so damn good. And you wanted me to suffer.”

Her gaze lifted to meet mine. “Maybe…”

“You don’t think I’m tortured enough? You put that damn dress on and tell me not to touch you?” I leaned in so she could feel what she was doing to me. “You get off on edging me?” As her breathing became heavier, I inched closer. “You don’t want me to touch you because it makes you feel things you’re trying not to feel? Is that what it is?”

She looked away. “I don’t know…”

I placed my hand on her chin, moving her face to look at me again. “You used to beg me to touch you.”

She licked her lips, and it made me yearn to do the same, to taste her again.

“For the record, Nicole, I will never not be yours to touch. Nor would I be able to pretend for a second that I don’t want you to touch me. You never have to ask permission.” My chest pressed into hers. “You were looking at me our first night here like you wanted to touch me. When I came out of the shower, I could see it in your eyes. Desire. You weren’t happy about it, but it was there. Tell me I’m wrong.”

REVIEW:

The Drummer’s Heart by Penelope Ward is a passionate, heart-tugging rockstar romance that hits all the right emotional chords! This slow-burn, second-chance love story reunites Atticus, the brooding and talented drummer of Delirious Jones, with his ex-wife, Nicole, the one who got away and still holds the key to his heart. They’re forced into a precarious, close-proximity situation as they hole up together to care for her grandmother, Mimi, who is very important to both of them—and unaware of their divorced status. Electric chemistry, crackling with unresolved tension and undeniable attraction, and effortlessly witty banter made their reconnection feel both authentic and irresistible.

Ward masterfully built the steam, delivering a romance that’s as sweet as it is scorching. Atticus’ vulnerability and Nicole’s strength create a dynamic that’s both complicated and deeply moving. The emotional depth of their journey—filled with regret, longing, and hope—kept my earbuds in, burning through the audiobook. Angelina Rocca and Sebastian York deliver a magical duet performance. Their natural on-screen chemistry was so genuine and realistic, and the way they expertly portrayed these characters with vulnerability made this an absolutely addictive listening experience. Ward’s storytelling is impeccable, blending raw emotion and sizzling passion into a love story that hit me right in the feels. The Drummer’s Heart by Penelope Ward gets five smooches from me!

EXCERPT:

“I want to tie your hands to the bed. I’m not sure you won’t move otherwise. Will you let me?”

She nods.

I reach down and grab the belt off her robe she was wearing when I got here, and I walk over, wrapping it around her wrists and then to the wrought iron spindle on her frame. It’s not tight—she could easily get out of it with one pull—but it at least gives the illusion.

“Are you wet for me, Penelope?” I ask.

“Yes.”

“I bet you are. Such a good girl being sprawled like that for me. You are so beautiful like this. I got you.”

“I know,” she answers softly.

“Now, spread your legs for me. Let me see how wet you are.”

Slowly she does as told. This week I’ve had her many ways, but seeing her like this, giving me the power, means everything to me.

All I want is for her to trust me, to share her pain so I can shoulder it for her. Something is weighing her down, keeping her from letting me in. I can feel I’m chipping away at it and, at the same time, completely falling for her.

“Miles,” she moans my name. “Please.”

I move between her legs, my face hovering over her c^nt. “I’m going to make you come on my tongue, Penelope. I told you I was hungry.”

She whimpers when I bring my tongue to her clit, flicking it gently. My hands are on each thigh, holding her apart. She can’t move much, just her hips the smallest amounts. I lick and suck on her clit, then ease up, repeating the sequence over and over again. I push my tongue inside her, fucking her with it, wishing it was my cock taking her.

I lift her higher, devouring her, and she starts to tremble. I can feel her body tensing around me, and I move back to her clit, sucking it hard and then using my teeth.

Penelope detonates in my arms. Her head thrashes back and forth, and I keep going, riding out every minute of pleasure I can give her. She moans my name softly before biting down on her lip to keep quiet.

“Do you need to be untied?” I ask after her orgasm is done.

“More?”

“Yes, sweetheart, there’s more. Answer me.”

“No,” she pants.

I grab her hips, flipping her over and pulling her onto her knees. Her upper half is suspended, and I push her knees closer for better leverage.

“I’ve got you,” I tell her. “I’ll hold you, just grab onto the bedpost.”

She moves closer, and I spread her knees before driving into her. Her heat envelops me and she gasps, throwing her head back.

I reach up with one hand, grabbing her hair and just holding it. She looks at me from over her shoulder, her tongue darting along her lips.

“Just like that, Penny. Let me fuck you hard.”

“Yes.”

I slam into her over and over, my cock so hard as her pussy tightens. I release her hair and grip her hips tighter, needing more of her. Needing it all.

REVIEW:

A captivating blend of romance and suspense, Corinne Michaels kept me on the edge of my seat with her second book in the Ember Falls series, Here and Now. This small-town, found-family story follows Penny, a single mom on the run from a dark past, and Miles, her son’s swoon-worthy, sweet and sexy hockey coach who becomes her safe haven. Their chemistry was electric, and the witty banter between them was both heartwarming and hilarious.

Penny’s strength and vulnerability made her such a relatable and inspiring heroine, while Miles’ unwavering kindness and patience had me falling head over heels. The emotional depth of their journey, combined with the suspenseful elements of Penny’s past, came together fantastically in this unputdownable story. This was Corinne Michaels at her best, showcasing her exceptional storytelling abilities by weaving together heart-stopping moments and heartfelt connections into a sweeping, seductive and deeply satisfying romance. Five smooches from me for Here and Now by Corinne Michaels!

Two nights with her ruined me for all other women, but I never got the chance to make her mine.

I’m the pinnacle of control. I protect the net, my team, and my daughter.

It’s my final season and I can’t afford any distractions.

Except our new assistant coach just walked in.

And I would know her face anywhere.

She’s the one I dream about.

That weekend, I was just a man—not the legend, the dad, the mentor.

I didn’t care that I was a decade older.

For the first time in my life, I was ready to risk everything if it meant having her.

Until I woke up to an empty bed and no note.

Three years of wishing I knew how to find her, now she’s my new boss.

I can be patient.

But for her—I want to break all the rules.

I got what I wanted. I became buddy-buddy with my boss in an instant. But the cost will be hefty…finding a husband by tomorrow.

Scottie Price just started a new job, and it’s a real sausage fest. She’s the only woman on a team filled with Brads and Chads. Expecting a bachelor pad atmosphere, she is quickly corrected when she finds out everyone is happily married.

In an effort to impress her boss, Scottie mentions her nonexistent husband in a company meeting. But eagle-eyed Chad points out her lack of wedding ring. Panicked, Scottie creates a story about her unhappy marriage. Unfortunately for Scottie, her boss has a solution – a one-on-one session with the best marriage counselor in the Northeast, who happens to be her boss’s husband.

With no way out of her lie, Scottie agrees to see him. Frantic, she calls in help from her best friend who sets her up with his brother, an improv-obsessed millionaire.

Enter Wilder Wells. More than happy to take on the job, he teaches Scottie the main rule of improv: Always say yes. But the rule backfires during the session when Wilder signs them up for an eight-day summer marriage camp with all of Scottie’s co-workers where she’ll have to share a cabin with her way-too-handsome fake husband.

RELEASE BLITZ: Lucky Shot by K. Bromberg

LUCKY SHOT, a spicy new bad boy/good girl, close proximity sports romance from New York Times Bestselling Author, K. Bromberg, is available now!

Do we have a lucky shot of working out?

Our first meeting? He stood me up.
Our second chance encounter? I told him exactly what I thought of him.
Our third? It came with a bet (he lost) and an understanding that we’re stuck with one another.

It doesn’t matter that he’s Alexander Hardy—British soccer star extraordinaire, world-famous in every way, and a certified sex symbol. We come from two different worlds and live in two different realities. But all we need is one month.

The bet: Help him rehab his reputation to the media and the masses, and in exchange, he’ll help my soccer academy and the underprivileged kids who idolize him.

That doesn’t mean I have to like him. Not his delicious accent, his sexy smirk or those storm cloud gray eyes. Not his incredibly fit body or his sinfully dirty mouth. Not even the way he shows up day after day for the kids or the way he looks at me like he wants to devour me.

He looks at time spent in my world as a penance, while I look at it as a way to leverage his star power to help my academy survive.

But as the days turn to weeks, it seems we’re not as different as I once thought. The man who cares about no one, has fixed his sights on me. With his time at my academy up and his obligations back home calling, do we have a lucky shot of working out?

About K. Bromberg:

New York Times Bestselling author K. Bromberg writes contemporary romance novels that contain a mixture of sweet, emotional, a whole lot of sexy, and a little bit of real. She likes to write strong heroines and damaged heroes who we love to hate but can’t help to love.

A mom of three, she plots her novels in between school runs and soccer practices, more often than not with her laptop in tow and her mind scattered in too many different directions.

Since publishing her first book on a whim in 2013, Kristy has sold over one and a half million copies of her books across eighteen different countries and has landed on the New York Times, USA Today, and Wall Street Journal Bestsellers lists over thirty times. Her Driven trilogy (Driven, Fueled, and Crashed) is currently being adapted for film by the streaming platform, Passionflix, with the first movie (Driven) out now.

With her imagination always in overdrive, she is currently scheming, plotting, and swooning over her latest hero. You can find out more about him or chat with Kristy on any of her social media accounts.
