Synopsis

Sayer Cole and Zeb Fuller couldn’t be more different. She’s country club and fine-dining, he’s cell-block and sawdust. Sayer spends her days in litigation, while Zeb spends his working with his hands. She’s French silk, he’s all denim and flannel.

Zeb’s wanted the stunning blonde since the moment he laid eyes on her. It doesn’t matter how many smooth moves he makes, the reserved lawyer seems determinedly oblivious to his interest—either that or she doesn’t return it. Sayer is certain the rough, hard, hot-as-hell Zeb could never want someone as closed off and restrained as she is, which is a shame because something tells her he might be the guy to finally melt her icy exterior.

But just as things start to heat up, Zeb is blindsided by a life altering moment from his past. He needs Sayer’s professional help to right a wrong and to save more than himself. He can’t risk what’s at stake just because his attraction to Sayer feels all consuming. But as these opposites dig in for the fight of their lives, battling together to save a family, the steam created when fire and ice collide can no longer be ignored.

Review

‘Sayer Cole was a project I couldn’t wait to get my hands on.’

EEK!!! A new Jay book in a new Jay series! Holy Hell I am excited for The Saints Of Denver and Built starts it all off with a BANG. Whenever an author I love starts a spin off series I get excited but also weary. Will I love it like the original? Can it live up to the hype? Well, let me assure you Built lives up to it all and more. Zeb and Sayer filled me with all the warm happy feelings, they made me laugh and had me tearing up with the struggle they faced. I was completely enthralled with these two dynamic characters and their unique love story.

‘It felt like a conquering. A victory. A battle fought and won. It felt like he was trying to make it so that I would never be able to kiss anyone else in my life without having to compare it to this moment.’

Built is so different than the Marked Men series and yet still felt comfortable and familiar. We know Sayer as Rowdy’s sister and though we meet the dark and mysterious Zeb previously we don’t know a ton about him or his story. These unlike two could not have been more different and yet they could not have been more perfect for one another. Sayer is as straight laced as they come, a lawyer who comes from a well to do family. She has had a pull towards Zeb since she met him in Bar but convinced she can’t love like she is supposed to she pushes him away. Still unable to have him too far she hires him as a contractor on her house torturing herself daily with having him near and yet unable to act on her feelings.

‘I sure as hell wasn’t only a client when I was buried deep inside of her and she was whimpering my name over and over again as she came.’

Zeb has a record and knows he is the complete opposite of who Sawyer should want. Yet from the moment he saw her he has made his attraction clear to Sayer but still respects her wishes when she puts distance between them. But when a one night fling comes back to haunt him,  Zeb ask Sawyer for help and humbled himself to know that sometimes their are more important things than acting on an attraction. Working closely together to solve his problem Sayer and Zeb grow closer and closer until their desire and chemistry reaches a boiling point. But can Sayer get past all her insecurities and realize she is capable of love and can Zeb realize that being an ex-con does not make him undeserving of someone classy like Sayer?

‘God, did his truth undo me . . . every single time.”

I feel like I was completely unprepared for the vast array of feeling Built left me with. I was overwhelmed with emotion and loved every second of it. Zeb was kind, sweet and patient but also Alpha and refused to be pushed around. When she needed him to be patient he was there waiting and when she needed a push Zeb would become firm and in control. With explosive chemistry (and oh boy when the finally give in after all that build up it is definitely EXPLOSIVE) and a story full of rich characters and emotional development I could not have asked for more from Built.

‘I knew Sayer was going to break my heart and I was willingly letting her do it.’

From the first page I was pulled into Zeb and Sayer’s story and by the end I was sad to see these characters go (though I am sure they will make cameos in other books thankfully.) I grew with them fell in love with them and now I am overly attached to them and sad the book is over and already trying to look at my schedule for a time I can re-read it! Whether you have read the Marked Men series or are coming into this with a fresh start Built, as well as The Saints Of Denver series is sure to quickly become a favorite of yours.

Honor, integrity, and loyalty are how Deputy US Marshal Kreed Sinacola lives his life. A former SEAL now employed by the Special Operations Group of the US Marshal Service, Kreed spent most of his life working covert operations and avoiding relationships. Never one to mix business with pleasure, his boundaries blur and his convictions are put to the test when he finally comes face-to-face with the hot computer geek he’s been partnered with. Hell-bent on closing the ongoing case for his longtime friend, he pushes past his own limits and uncovers more than he expects.

Aaron Stuart strives for one thing: justice. Young and full of idealism, his highly sought after computer skills land him a position with the National Security Agency. Aaron’s biggest hazard at his job is cramped fingers, but all that changes when he is drawn into the middle of a dangerous federal investigation. Aaron gets more than he bargained for when the FBI partners him with a handsome and tempting deputy US marshal. His attraction to the inked up, dark-haired man provides another kind of threat altogether. Aaron tries desperately to place a firewall around his heart and fight his developing feelings, knowing one misstep on his part could ultimately destroy him.

The solution isn’t as easy as solving the case, which is treacherous enough as it is. But the growing sexual attraction between them threatens to derail more than just Kreed’s personal convictions as he quickly learns temptation and matters of the heart rarely fit easily into the rules he’s lived by. Will Kreed be able to convince Aaron to open his heart and face the fact that sometimes the answers aren’t always hidden in code?

“You’re so fucking sexy with those fuck-me-I’m-so-smart glasses on and that intense look on your face.”

Aaron glanced up and narrowed his eyes as he shoved the glasses off to the top of his head and stretched out his back. There was just something about the big, gorgeous deputy marshal growling those words at him that made his dick want to come out and play. A tired yawn from hours of sitting behind his laptop slipped free as he rubbed his eyes.

“And those noises you make are a complete turn-on.”

“I have a feeling it doesn’t take much to turn you on. A slight gust of wind would probably have you at full mast,” Aaron teased, lowering the lid to his laptop.

I live in the suburbs of Dallas where it’s true, the only thing bigger than an over active imagination, may be women’s hair!

Usually, I try for funny. Humor is a major part of my life – I love to laugh, and it seems to be the thing I do in most situations – regardless of the situation, but jokes are a tricky deal… I don’t want to offend anyone and jokes tend to offend. So instead I’m going to tell you about Kindle.

I tragically lost my sixteen year old daughter to a drunk driver. She had just been at home, it was early in the night and I heard the accident happen. I’ll never forget that moment. The sirens were immediate and something inside me just knew. I left my house, drove straight to the accident on nothing more than instinct. I got to be there when my little girl died – weirdly, I consider that a true gift from above. She didn’t have to be alone.

That time in my life was terrible. It’s everything you think it would be times about a billion. I love that kid. I loved being her mother and I loved watching her grow into this incredibly beautiful person, both inside and out. She was such a gift to me. To have it all ripped away so suddenly broke me.

Her name was Kindle. Honest to goodness – it was her name and she died a few weeks before Amazon released their brand new Kindle ereader. She had no idea it was coming out and she would have finally gotten her name on something! Try finding a ruler with the name Kindle on it.. It never happened.

Through the course of that crippling event I was lucky enough to begin to write with a dear friend in the fan fiction world of Facebook. She got me through those dark days with her unwavering support and friendship. There wasn’t a time she wasn’t there for me. I know without question I wouldn’t be here today without her.

5 SMOOCHES!

SYNOPSIS:

Sassy, dramatic, hot-headed are just some of the words used to describe me since the time I was born. A few little mishaps growing up and my mom has a running ‘Emerson Baker’ prayer circle, and I have the reputation of a spit-fire that won’t go away.

I prefer the terms loyal, passionate, fiery, and possibly a bit impulsive.
So when my best friend proposes the concept of starting our own business, I jump on the idea.

CHEATERS BEWARE!
That should be our motto… because your secrets can’t stay hidden for long with Trixsters Anonymous on the case.

We are the moonlighting duo hell-bent on helping those who suspect their lovers are cheating. We’re professional, careful, and completely anonymous…What could possibly go wrong?

Walker Scott… that’s what goes wrong.
I never stood a chance against the gorgeous, hazel-eyed, fiercely determined man who storms into my life and completely blindsides me.
He’s the proof that opposites attract—and when they do, the chemistry is explosive.
Did I mention he’s also a detective? A very, very, talented detective?

Pretty soon being a Trixster is a lot more complicated.

REVIEW:

This is my second time reading the very talented Ahren Sanders, and the second time I’ve been impressed with her writing. I’ve been devouring romantic comedies this year, and Trixsters Anonymous is an absolutely fabulous one. From the first page, I was swept off my feet with a story that was funny, light-hearted and seriously sexy, but it was the dash of suspense and a fun female friendship that I enjoyed nearly as much as the romance that pushed this story from a great read into one that was special and memorable.

I loved the heroine, Emerson Baker. She was fiery and feisty and one of the most fun-to-read heroines I’ve ever read. Known to her friends as Emi, she’s a bit of a handful and is regularly accused of being overly dramatic. Her antics are widely known, and her mother has formed a prayer circle dedicated to Emi just for this reason. But it’s her latest venture with her best friend, Maren, that has the potential to eclipse all of her past escapades.

Walker Scott is all man. A former Army MP and current Charleston detective, he’s bossy yet incredibly patient. Not one to back down from a challenge, he was exactly the kind of man who could handle the notorious spit-fire. It also didn’t hurt that he was the drop-dead gorgeous, sexy, swoony alpha-male of Emi’s dreams. Instant attraction may have fast tracked this relationship, but with chemistry that leapt off the page, their pairing was a perfect blend of smoking hot passion and made-for-each-other, once-in-a-lifetime compatibility.

Emi’s latest venture, a top-secret business with Maren, has the potential to eclipse all of her past escapades. Their mysterious infidelity investigation service, Trixsters Anonymous, provides their clients with irrefutable confirmation when a significant others’ unfaithfulness is suspected. Maren and Emi are really good at it, too, using disguises and high-tech gadgets to capture the evidence they need. But despite all their careful planning to remain unidentified, they never planned on Walker Scott.

Laugh-out-loud humor reminiscent of a modern-day Lucy and Ethel and a sweet, sultry southern romance as steamy as a summer day in Charleston form a solid foundation in this uniquely entertaining romcom. But it was the threads of suspense along with a surprise second romance and a cast of interesting side characters that Sanders wove expertly into the fabric of the plot that added the depth and dimension to round out an already fantastic story into the page-turning pleasure that has secured a spot on my 2017 top favorites list. Five smooches from me for Trixsters Anonymous by Ahren Sanders.

She’s fine hiding from the world until Chris moves next door. A friendship forms when they unwillingly bond over their painful pasts. But Mia may not be the child with no traces of her father as Brooke assumed. And making a moral choice will risk everything.

This book contains explicit language, graphic sexual content, and sensitive topics which may be triggers to some readers. Reader discretion is advised.

Review

Brooke has a beautiful little girl called Mia who she loves more than anything and she thinks that Mia and her family are all she needs in her life because of the awful thing that happened in her past. But then Chris moves in next door and she starts to have feelings she thought she would never have again. Chris also has a secret that makes him not want a relationship; but maybe these two broken people can repair each other with the help of a beautiful little girl? And maybe these two meet at just the right time to help each other get through another horrible situation.

“My eyes widened as I finally accepted the feelings I’d been having all weekend. I didn’t want him to leave because I liked him. I was so fucked. The first time I felt something in years, and it was for a guy who didn’t date.”

I really loved this book. It gave me all the feels and was slammed full of emotion. It’s an easy going book, you know something awful has happened to both Brooke and Chris and when they help each other through that, another situation happens that will pull at your heart strings and make u beg to the reading gods that everything turns out okay.

“I really want this to work,” he whispered, his lips brushing against me as he kept talking. “I don’t know how else to put it. I want this to work so badly, and I know you don’t trust people easily.” He moved back, so he was looking into my eyes again. “I’m going to do everything I can to earn that, Brooke. I swear I will.”

Brooke and Mia were both so loveable. Strong mother, strong daughter with the two of them against the world. Their bond was unbreakable and beautiful. Brooke really was an amazing woman, a great mum, strong, brave, independent and always fighting for the best for her daughter. Mia was a bundle of joy and happiness who you just knew would light up a room.

“Chris felt so good, everything about him. His hard chest, his tight arms, those big hands pressing into my back, pinning me against him. But my favorite thing was his mouth exploring mine, needy and giving at the same time.”

Chris was our hero. A sweet, kind and quiet man but as the story developed you see his sexy, protective and strong side. His dedication to both Mia and Brooke was so adorable and the way he overcomes his own sad past to be there for them both made my heart sigh.

“I want to memorize this,” he said. “You look like a damn goddess and you’re mine. I know you were before but now … I finally have everything I’d given up dreaming about.”

This is such a roller coaster ride filled with emotion. It’s tough going for a while and when you think everything is working out…BAM another heartbreaking story line happens and you are right back to holding your breath and hoping that everyone gets their HEA! Highly recommend this story to those who want an emotional read, with loveable characters and a excellent story line.

Synopsis

All things, when placed under pressure, eventually break or leave a mark.

Tattoo artist Brody “Cujo” Matthews knows how to keep things simple. In life and in love. Abandoned as a child by a mother who refused to stick around to raise three boys she didn’t want, he’s intent on staying clear of complicated women. The only things complicated in Cujo’s life are the killer tattoos he designs and inks. That all changes when he’s asked to help organize his best friend Trent’s engagement party, which means working with Trent’s fiancée’s best friend, Drea, the definition of high maintenance and sizzling curves. And the one woman he doesn’t want to walk away from.

Andrea “Drea” Caron is broke and tired. After years of caring for her ailing mom, she’s at the end of her rope trying to manage the piling medical bills, two jobs, and a life placed on hold. She certainly doesn’t need the added frustration of a sexy playboy tattoo artist messing up her best friend’s engagement party or her carefully balanced life. But when Drea witnesses the abduction of a woman from the café she works at, she can’t help but turn to Cujo who’s determined to prove to Drea that he’s someone she can count on forever…but as they attempt to bring the truth to light, someone is working to bring that forever to a sudden, deadly halt.

Review

‘When she stopped being mad at the world and him, when she let herself be vulnerable for a moment, he found it hard to stand be his decision to stay away.’

Scarlett Cole is a new author that I am watching closely. After a good book friend basically forced me to read her first books, The Strongest Steel, I was completely captured by her fresh story telling mixed with a seriously sexy hero and a strong heroine. I read it and knew that she was on to something. So to say I have been eager for the follow up novel, The Fractured Heart, would be an understatement.

“What makes you think it would be off the charts?” Her voice was barely a whisper. He leaned toward her, his lips a fraction from her ear. It took every ounce of self-control not to taste her skin. “When it feels this good without even touching, how could it not be?”

Drea and Cujo’s story isn’t always easy but really are the good ones really every easy? Drea spends most of her time caring for an ailing mother who doesn’t even appreciate her and Cujo is just a playboy who will never settle down. From the beginning these two cannot agree on anything and are at odds most of the time that they have to spend together in order to plan the engagement party for their mutual best friends. All the while Drea becomes mixed up in a mystery and her curiosity and need to help have her putting herself in dangerous situations. Can Brody “Cujo” convince her he can be a one woman man and help her stay safe and learn to be loved?

‘How did you help someone you love through a grief so violent they were choking on it?’

Being honest going into this book Brody’s nickname of Cujo had me apprehensive. It doesn’t scream sexy book boyfriend (more like might kill me in my sleep boyfriend) but soon after getting to know him I too fell for him and by the time I found out the source of the offending nickname I was on board too. There were parts of this story that as an outsider with a lot more information I wanted to shake Drea and yell at her to put the pieces together but then I sit back and look at it from the point of view from the frantic girl who is trying to distract herself from a sad life. She lives the life of an old woman who has lived her prime only she never got to experience it. Since she was seventeen she has been struggling to keep her and her mother above water with no help and no one patting her ont he back telling her she is doing a good job. If I was her would I be able to clearly see everything from all angles, honestly no I wouldn’t . I loved Drea, I loved her heart, her fun side and mostly I loved the way she fully loves those she cares for. She would do anything for you if you were close to her and that in my opinion is a great woman.

“Why would you be proud of me? I hurt you. I hurt us.” ‘That’s just one moment in our history. It won’t define us.”

Brody and Drea have incredible chemistry and thoroughly steamed up my kindle. From the start you can tell that they want each other but both come with deep emotional baggage that they need to work through. Personally, I believe Scarlett did a grand job of slowly healing two fractured people and making both completely whole again, together. I am falling for these characters and this series and I cannot wait for The Purest Hook to come out!  So if you have not read Scarlette Cole yet I encourage you to take the leap and jump into one of her books, you won’t be let down.

Synopsis

Clementine Daly knows she’s the black sheep. Her wealthy, powerful family has watched her very closely since she almost got caught in an embarrassing scandal a few years ago. So when Clementine’s sent on a mission to live up to the Daly name, politely declining isn’t even an option. Of course, the last thing Clementine does before departure is grab a stranger’s phone by mistake—leaving the hunky journalist with her phone. Soon his sexy voice is on the line, but he doesn’t know her real name, or her famous pedigree—which is just the way Clementine likes it.

Despite all the hassles, Justin Mueller is intrigued to realize that the beautiful brown-eyed girl he met at the airport is suddenly at his fingertips. They agree to exchange phones when they’re both back in town, but after a week of flirty texts and wonderfully intimate conversations, Justin doesn’t want to let her go that easy. The only problem? It turns out that Clemetine has been lying to him about, well, everything. Except for the one thing two people can’t fake, the only thing that matters: The heat between them is for real.

Review

I am a huge sucker for a book with a good does of texting, emails and phone calls, so when I say the synopsis for Call Me, Maybe I was incredibly excited and eager to start.  When Clementine and Justin’s phones get mixed up at the airport they decided to hold onto them for a week until they can exchange them in person back home. Suddenly these two strangers are thrust into each others lives delivering messages to one another. Before long they are talking more than necessary and not just passing along important messages and calls. They are eager to get to know one another and quickly find themselves growing close to the stranger who has their main life line in their hands. But socialite Clementine is no stranger to a public scandal involving private matters on her phone and has to decide how much information she can trust this man who she just met and cannot stop thinking about. Can their connection hold strong when they meet in person or will the exciting allure of the mystery  stranger be lost when the mystery is solved.

“We’ve only known each other for what? Nine days?” The result of my mental math surprised me. He felt way too important – necessary – for nine days.’

So while overall I enjoyed this sweet easy read I had a hard time with a few plot points including Justin having no clue who Clementine was. In this modern world where everything is online someone who is such a big socialite I would think would not be too hard to recognize. Her family is big, like Trump or Hilton big, so to think that he has no clue who she is was a tad hard for me to swallow. But again it is probably just me nit-picking. Still overall the book moved along and I loved all the texting and phone calls. I wish I felt a deeper connection between the two but at the same time I didn’t feel disconnected either. Full of funny moments and a does of heart Call Me, Maybe is a book worth opening!

Is it ok to admit I judged this book by it’s blurb?  Words like ‘summit of La Aguja’, ‘climbers’, ‘mountaineers’ and ’hiking-boots’ assaulted me and I instantly felt a bit dubious as I didn’t know anything about this type of adventure romance and going up a mountain seemed as interesting as listening to my hubby list all the modifications he wants do to his car to make it race faster (because he’s clearly experiencing a midlife crisis and you can only drive the legal limit anyway) but once again I was proven to be a terrible narrow-minded individual because not only did this book take me out of my comfort zone in reading, but it completely blew my mind in every way.  It goes beyond the romance genre and into something all of its own making.  Sure we get to traverse inhospitable regions and learn the reality and perils of climbing, especially unprepared and in extreme weather, but on this incredible journey we’re shown one of the greatest and most memorable romance stories.  The connection that gruff Scottish mountaineer Rhys MacAskill and the wonderfully named Auden Woods experience is elemental, fierce, as well as instantaneous, whether their stunning natural surroundings amplify those feelings and emotions I’m not quite sure, but what these two go through together in only a few days amounts to more passion, confusion, fear and longing than most people get to experience in the entirety of their lives.

‘“Careful lass.  I bite.”  My fingers clasp her a little harder.

She takes hold of my hair as defiance flashes in her gaze.  Closer, she comes.  Her quickened breath warms my face.  There’s a strangled noise.  Shit, that’s me.  A freckle punctuates the corner of her top lip.  She bypasses my mouth and gives me jaw a sweetly sharp nip.  “Bet I can bite harder.”’’

The way Lia describes Patagonia-the harsh and unpredictable weather and the vast array of colour, sound and light-paints a rather vivid canvas in your head, so you find it no trouble at all to imagine yourself in that tent, in a storm, battling back raging hormones and awkwardness.  Rhys is utter perfection, he has the damaged lone wolf skill set down pat and it’s Auden’s remarkably infectious personality that brings an element of light and fun to both Rhys and the story over all.  She is endearingly clumsy but lovable to his gruff and terse nature and together they create a force to be reckoned with.  It’s a fabulous story and I can honestly say there wasn’t one single thing I would have altered.  There are so many dramatic points, twists and tragic situations mixed in with funnier lighter moments and some hot and heavy ones, that you are literally flipping that page over as quickly as your eyes will let you read.  Tremendously well written with two completely engaging characters to lead you through this exciting adventure.

And on that note I would like to offer up an apology to Lia Riley for doubting the brilliance of With Every Breath simply from reading the synopsis.
