Synopsis

I had it all.

I was captain of the cheerleading squad and star of the debate team.
I was smart and popular and living the dream.

Until that night.
That one fateful night changed everything.

Now everyone hates me—everyone.
They stay far away.
It’s safer.

Drugs numb the pain, and sex pays for the drugs.
Being alive is my punishment.

Then I meet him.
Ryker Rosse.
Tattoos, sinful body…and his eyes. His eyes are irresistible.
He is captivating. He treats me with respect.
He sees me.

Ryker brings happiness into my life of regret, but I don’t know if I deserve happiness.
Some mistakes can never be forgiven.
Or can they?

Review

I just started writing reviews for Red Cheek Reds, and had been a little disappointed by a few books I reviewed. I really get frustrated with grammatical and spelling errors, or anything regarding medicine that is incorrect (I’m a doctor). BUT then I read “Rush Into You” by Brianna Lee and I absolutely LOVED IT!!!

First and foremost, it totally passed my grammatical and spelling test, but then all the medical jargon and medication information was accurate and used in a great way. But most importantly, the relationship between Ryker and Gabby was just a great story!!

Gabby went through a traumatic incident that has left her the social piranha of her small town; she turns to drugs, alcohol, and prostitution.

“My addiction started when I got jumped by five girls and a guy—a baseball bat can do serious damage to the human body, especially when the person wielding it holds a serious grudge against you.”

Ryker is a bartender that befriends Gabby, the connection they develop is instant.

“Confused, I looked up and sucked in a sharp breath. The sexiest eyes I had ever seen were locked on mine. They were breathtaking sapphire color…”

Years pass, and they meet again at a party and the drama unfolds. Gabby becomes close with Ryker almost immediately. He races street-bikes and Gabby begins to fall in love with Ryker’s passion for motorcycles. Gabby’s past then puts Ryker in danger. The story unfolds in a unique manner that so different from other stories!

This book was an amazing story of triumph over demons, and finding love when you are at your lowest point. I will most definitely read anything this author publishes!

Excerpt:

I could be comfortable strapped into a Chinook, with full body armor and another hundred fifty pounds of equipment on top of that. I could HALO down to a cross-fire insertion, no problem. But flying coach on a standard commercial airline was killer.

Everything seemed tiny, as if I’d walked onto a display version of a real airplane. My legs were folded like a pretzel to fit into the small amount of legroom. My head cleared the headrest by almost a foot. And my body jutted into the aisle, but there was nothing to do about that without pushing into my buddy James beside me.

The pretty stewardess walked by, her hip brushing my shoulder.

“I’m sorry,” she murmured.

Della, her name tag read. She was slender and careful, but that didn’t matter when I was taking up half the aisle with my shoulder.

“My fault,” I managed to say. It came out more like a rumble.

The lightest whisper of cloth, her blue uniform against my fatigues. A wisp of heat and a faint smell of peaches. It was too much. As if I were goddamned Sleeping Beauty, my dick woke the hell up.

She smiled then, and it was way too late to pretend I wasn’t getting hot at the sight of her.

Jesus, those lips. And the little upturned smile, the one that said she knew exactly what I was thinking.

Well, maybe not exactly. No way were her thoughts as desperate as mine. Eight months away from the States had taken its toll, with not even enough time or energy to beat off with regularity.

No privacy, either, but then we didn’t care about that. You couldn’t be fastidious in a godforsaken jungle. They send a bunch of eighteen-year-old testosterone junkies into the wild, what else is gonna happen? There’d been a time we’d all go into a firefight, walk out with no bullet holes, then head back to our bunks and jack off like we were synchronized swimming.

Not this time, though.

After our first two tours in Afghanistan, James and I got picked up to work as part of a joint task force. Guess we impressed somebody. We couldn’t even drink back then—at least, not legally—but we were handed some of the most lethal weapons and secretive recording equipment in use.

Since then we had continued to fight, but not on any sanctioned battlefield. Our ops were secretive and lethal and mostly not even acknowledged by the US government. We lived and worked in the darkest parts of the world, then came home on leave so we could remember why we did it.

My twenty-third birthday had come and gone, spent with some of the most disgusting human beings I’d ever met and had to pretend like I was their new best friend. I shuddered just remembering some of the things I’d witnessed, unable to do anything without blowing my cover. I’d seen some bad shit in my life, but nothing compared to those sights. When I closed my eyes, I could still see those young girls. Way too young. I wanted to wash myself off just for being around that, even if we had taken it down in the end.

Mission accomplished. Go home.

So it was a real fucking surprise when my body was suddenly interested in the sweet-smelling, hot-as-hell stewardess.

“Can I get you something?” she asked. “Water? A soda?”

Suddenly my mouth was dry. “No, thanks.”

She smiled again. God, she really needed to stop that. “I think I can rustle up some pretzels if you ask nicely?”

Nope, wasn’t doing that.

“I could use some pretzels,” James said from beside me.

Really? “Nah, we’re good. Don’t worry about us.”

“All right. You boys let me know.” She sauntered off, leaving both James and I staring. Man, that skirt hugged her so nicely…

“What the hell was that for?” James said. “She would’ve come back.”

“And then what, asshole? You’ve got Rachel.”

“And you’ve got… what’s her name? Chelsea.”

“Yeah,” I lied. I’d been lying for a few months now, ever since I’d landed at the base in Germany where I could check my messages. Dear Clint, I’m sorry to tell you like this but… A Dear John text message. A remote control breakup. It had happened to enough of our friends that I knew what the reaction would be if I told people. Pity, from the guys who could still look at me. Avoidance from everyone else, as if the condition of being dumped was contagious.

So I hadn’t told anyone, not even James. And hell, maybe it wouldn’t be that bad. Me and Chels had a good thing going. Maybe not good, but it wasn’t bad either. And separation was always hard. For all I knew, we’d patch things up right away and then I’d be glad I never told James, who would’ve given her a hard time after that.

She was probably going to pick me up at the airport, just like we’d planned, and here I was checking out another woman. The eight months had done a number on both of us, that was all. We’d work it out.

I glanced down the aisle at the stewardess—Della—who had bent to speak to another passenger. “The point is, she’s doing her job. She doesn’t need us bothering her.”

“Hey, you were the one groping her.”

“With my shoulder?”

“And flirting,” James added.

“I was not flirting.” I would have known if I’d been flirting, right? And I definitely hadn’t done that. She was working. The last thing she needed was two horndogs using up her time or ogling her. “And stop looking.”

“That’s your argument? There’s nothing wrong with looking, man. It’s harmless. You think when our girls are back home, they don’t look?”

I did not like where this conversation was going. One of the main reasons to send a Dear John letter, as opposed to waiting until I got back, was for another guy. It pinched something in my chest to imagine Chelsea moving on that quick. I turned my irritation on my best friend. “Do you actually hear yourself talk?”

“I stand by my assertion. I don’t care if Rachel checks out some hot doctor at her hospital. Long as she saves up the horniness for when I get back.”

“Yeah, okay. You write that on your anniversary card.”

“Shit, it’s my anniversary?”

“Hell if I know.”

We were quiet a moment. James was probably working out the dates in his head, trying to figure out if he needed to pick up a present from the airport gift shop. Me? I pretended to be asleep. Shut my eyes, even when the stewardess came back this way. But I could still see her long legs and black heels, and I had to admit: I was peeking. I couldn’t help it. There was something about her… the way she moved… so alluring…

“She walks like a stripper,” James muttered when she’d passed us by.

My eyes snapped open. “I am seriously going to punch you in the face right now.”

“What? I didn’t mean it in a bad way. It’s a good walk. A good, professional walk.”

“Your nose will be broken, and then you’ll have to explain to Rachel why it’s broken.”

“Okay, I’ll stop. But only because Rachel would freak out. She worries about me.”

James said the last part carelessly, but I still felt it like a blow, as if he’d beat me without even trying. Rachel didworry about him. A lot. It was a point of contention between them, but also a sign of how much they cared about each other.

Had Chelsea worried about me while I was gone? Hardly.

“Hey…” I cleared my throat. “How do you and Rachel reconnect when you get back home?”

“You really want me to answer that question?”

“Besides sex.”

“What else is there?”

“Nice. I mean… hell, I don’t know. The emotional connection.”

James narrowed his eyes in suspicion. “Are we secretly on Oprah? Look, man. The emotional connection is the easy part. You like a girl, you spend time with her, you get closer. That’s the connection. And the sex doesn’t hurt. Well, unless you want it to.”

“Ha-ha,” I said, but unease speared through me. It sounded so simple when James spelled it out. You like a girl, spend time with her. I’d had that with Chelsea once, hadn’t I?

I couldn’t remember.

Leaning over, I looked forward and back. The aisles were clear. No sign of Della or any other flight attendant. Frustrated for reasons I couldn’t explain, I settled into my seat—as well as I could—and closed my eyes. One thing you learned in the army was how to sleep, even if you were uncomfortable, anytime, anyplace.

Not this time, apparently. But I kept my eyes shut and pretended.

Forever Me Romance

Excerpt:

GOT HEART?

The music pitches and swells, violin and guitars, drumbeats and thudding bass. As I sway back and forth in front of the stage, it feels like being in the eye of a tornado, where it’s calm, but everything is going crazy whirling around me. I can’t stop looking at Micah, at the way the lights reflect off his mohawk, at the way he’s completely lost in the storm of overlapping chords.

I see every part of him, tiny pieces I never knew existed. The slight bend in his nose, the wedge-shaped scar on his right temple, the outline of his bicep hiding beneath the pyramid tattoo. His lips part, just barely, when he exhales. As I imagine the invisible mist of his breath hanging in the air, I inch closer to him. Here, in the strange blue light, while the bass pulses and pounds, all I can think about is touching him. Our fingertips brush. A shockwave courses through me. I want to grab him and pull him into my calm spot, closing my eyes and kissing him while the world spins topsy-turvy around us.

My thoughts feel hot inside my head, like they should be radiating a laser beam across the club, but Micah’s eyes are still closed, his body loose. He’s oblivious to the fact I’m thinking about kissing him. He has no idea my eyes are skimming their way down the lines of his body. His cheekbones. His beard stubble. The ridge of muscle connecting his jaw to the center of his chest. The faintest trace of sweat glistens where his neck meets his right shoulder. I want to touch my lips to it.

This is crazy. It’s Micah. I don’t like Micah. He doesn’t like me. We have about as much in common as, well, nothing. I sneak another glimpse at him. He’s still completely entranced by the song. He’s still completely kissable. It has to be the beer, or the music, the violins and guitars and electronic pulsing, the whole otherworldly quality to this song. Or maybe it’s just because I’m not myself here, and I don’t have to obey the rules of Lainey.

GOT GAME?

I sub back into the game a few minutes later and stay through the end of the half. It’s still 1-0. The Yellow Jackets tie it up on a breakaway goal in the second half. At this point I’m running from one end of the field to the other, playing more defense than any striker forward ought to be playing. I can’t help it. It feels so good to be in the game.

Matt Clifton saves a shot on goal and drop-kicks the ball in my direction. I dribble up field, out maneuvering two of the other team’s defenders. I pass the ball to Jason who sends it across to our right wing forward. The defense kicks the ball out of bounds and we get a corner kick. Jason goes to take it. I position myself in front of the goal, dancing back and forth as I vie for position with one of the Yellow Jacket fullbacks.

It’s a beautiful kick—high and strong, and it’s coming right at me. The other players, the shouting, the movement, they all fade into the background as I keep my eyes locked on the ball. Angling my body just slightly, I propel all five feet and eight inches of myself into the air at exactly the right moment—I think, I hope—and the crown of my head connects squarely with the ball. The players around me all turn to watch as it arcs through the air…

GET LAINEY!

I flip on the radio as soon as Leo fires up the engine. I hit the tuning arrow up until it lands on the station Micah put on for the ride home from the baseball game.

Leo looks over at me. “I didn’t know you liked this kind of music,” he says.

Me neither, but I do. Kind of, anyway. “I’ve been branching out. Anything gets old if you listen to it twenty-four seven, you know?”

“I hear you. I like new stuff too.”

I don’t answer. If you asked me whether I was the type of person who liked trying new things or preferred sticking with what was familiar, I would have told you I’m the second girl. The if –it-aint-broke-don’t-fix-it girl. I also would have told you plays were lame. It suddenly occurs to me that I don’t seem to know very much about…me. It’s a weird feeling, like maybe a stranger is inhabiting my body. Or maybe a stranger was, and I kicked her out.

Reasonable Doubt Vol. 2 by Whitney Gracia Williams Review

kis kis kis kis kis

Synopsis

She lied to me…

She betrayed the one rule that I’m most adamant about: Honesty. Complete and utter fucking honesty .

I really wish she was someone else—someone who didn’t have the ability to make me feel, someone I could easily discard like the hundreds of women before her.

She isn’t.

I’m drawn to her like I’ve never been drawn to a woman before—completely captivated by the very sight of her. But unfortunately, with my past slowly re-surfacing for all of the world to see, I’ll have to find a way to let her go.

She can never be mine.

Review

“In the interest of your future short-lived and mediocre law career, I’m going to do two huge favors for you: One, I’m going to apologize for fucking you a second time and let you know that it will never happen again. Two, I’m going to pretend like you didn’t just assault me with some goddamn coffee.”

I knew this was going to be scorching HOT and I was of course right. Andrew would never let me down; he was mean and crude and so freaking sexy. Whenever he opened his mouth I was so excited to see what he would say! There is something about a dirty talking man who is just a bit mean that does crazy things to me! The Reasonable Doubt series is quickly becoming one of my absolute favorites and I cannot wait to finish this story and see what else Whitney has in store for me.

aubrey

“Me being wet just means that I can’t control my body’s reaction to you. It doesn’t mean I want to have sex with you. I hate you.” “I’m pretty sure you don’t.”

As sexy as this story is, and I cannot say enough that it is, the highlight for me is the banter of Aubrey and Andrew. They are witty and funny and when they don’t get along it just makes me happy. Aubrey is mad as hell at Andrew because he neglected to tell her that he was technically married (which is ironic since their whole meeting was based on lies and misconceptions on her part.) Aubrey is PISSED, so pissed she attempts to injure his most precious body part with a very hot cup of coffee. Aubrey is not afraid to get mad and yell at Andrew (and I am pretty sure this is a turn on for him.) In a lot of stories I love a character but I don’t often love both as I do in this book. At times, Aubrey’s youth and naivety shows through but that is to be expected with the age gap and places in life. Still, she gives as good as she takes and is willing to get hot and heavy anywhere and everywhere. I can respect a girl like this!

“Subject: Re: Wet Panty Fetish  I did realize that you slipped your thong into my pocket this morning. I’ve noticed that you’ve done this all week. Contrary to your unfounded and silly assumptions, I do not have a panty fetish and I do not sleep with them over my face at night. I do, however have a new fetish for your pussy, and if you’re interested in letting me sleep with THAT over my face at night, feel free to let me know. Andrew”

Even though this is a super sexy read it is also funny and endearing. I am loving watching the relationship between Aubrey and Andrew develop even thought these damn cliffys are killing me! KILLING ME! I have high hopes that they can all come 100% clean and move forward and leave the past behind them. Whitney ‘s writing is the kind that you just cannot stop reading and you never quite know where it was going. This is the best kind of story, I love to be on the edge of my seat and she does not let me down!

andrew

“Fuck me Andrew.” “I am.” “Now.”

I am going to give you one warning, although if you have read the first volume there is probably no need. This story is clench your thighs together and try not to make a scene if you are reading in public HOT! Take that in consideration when choosing where to sit down and enjoy this because the question should not be if you are going to read this, it is when are you going to read this!

Synopsis:

I’ll be honest with you—I’m no hero. Sure, the media tries to brand every Navy SEAL as some kind of Batman dressed in cam-mies. There’s even a line in one of our cadences: Superman is the man of steel, he ain’t no match for Navy SEAL. You’ve seen the movies—we’re infallible, invaluable, invincible. But that night, the one you read about in the papers … all I really wanted to do was get laid.

One harmless fuck with a Aruban whore, no strings attached. I picked her out of a lineup—wild, dark hair, long legs and a crook-ed smile. After she sucked me off, I relaxed back onto the creaky, cum-stained cot, thankful for the blissful moments she gave me when I actually forgot for a second the faces of my buddies who died because I made the wrong call, the tears of the children I couldn’t save, and the eyes of the enemies I slaughtered during their last seconds of life.

But before I left, her hazel eyes peered into my soul. She whis-pered in a distinct Californian accent, “My name is Annie Hamilton. I’m an American citizen. I was kidnapped on spring break five years ago. You’re my last hope. Please save me.”

One desperate plea. This wasn’t a Hollywood blockbuster or a New York Times best-selling thriller. I knew this time there was no room for excuses, no margin for errors. I had one chance to put on the cape and be her hero.

Gemma’s favorite desk accessories for many years were a circular wooden token, better known as a ’round tuit,’ and a slip of paper from a fortune cookie proclaiming her a lover of words; some day she’d write a book. All it took was a transfer to the United Kingdom, the lovely English springtime, and a huge dose of homesickness to write her first novel. Once it was completed and sent off with a kiss, even the rejections addressed to ‘Dear Author’ were gratifying.

After returning to America, she spent a number of years as a copywriter, dedicating her skills to making insurance and the agents who sell them sound sexy. Eventually, her full-time job as a writer interfered with her desire to be a writer full-time and she left the world of financial products behind to pursue an avocation as a romance author.

Her gamble paid off when she was a 2012 Finalist in the prestigious Golden Pen contest for Romantic Suspense and she received contracts for her first and second book.

What starts as a simple affair evolves to something more, something that changes the soundtracks of both their lives…the beating of two hearts in harmony. A Lyrical Press Contemporary Romance

Review

This story follows the lives and blossoming romance of the two main characters Pippa and Clay. They first meet each other at a military funeral when Clay rescues Pippa from the unwanted interest of a extremist protestor. From there on out the pair continue to bump into each other. And once Clay realises he wants the sweet but lonely (and still mourning over her husband) Pippa he starts turning up wherever Pippa is on purpose, determined to get on her good side and get to know her more intimately….
However lurking in hidden dark corners is someone who intends to do Pippa harm and get back at Clay at the same time.

This was a wonderful romantic suspense story that was filled with loveable characters and a captivating plot that held my attention till the very end.

“You want me, as much as I need you”

One of the main reasons I loved this story was because of the characters.
Pippa was a strong female lead. She was independent, brave, strong, determined and a wonderful mother. I admired her strength and the support she gave to others. And I loved her bravery when she was willing to get to know Clay more and when she acknowledged she needed to stop mourning her husband and live her life. She was such an easy character to like.

“This was what romance was all about”

And I adored Clay. Again he was determined and brave, he was cocky and crass but that added to his appeal for me. He was hard on the outside but soft on the inside and he was adorable with Pippa’s two little children. I also liked that he called Pippa ‘spitfire’- he was acknowledging she was a strong women and not someone he could walk over or play around with.

“Each moment I’ve spent in your company has been…Jesus it’s been like coming home”

The supporting characters were all great as well. Mia and Mason were so cute and cheeky. Clay’s mum was sweet and loving. And all of Pippa’s family were wonderful.

“I won’t break your heart spitfire, you can count on that”

The plot and writing were captivating and descriptive.  Within the first few pages I had already cried (military funerals always get the water works going for me). And from then on I laughed, cried again, smiled. I felt happy, sad, surprised and shocked. The writer’s use of descriptive words helped bring the story alive and made me feel the emotions the characters were feeling.

I loved the suspense aspect of the story. Dewey and The Battalion added real drama and suspense to a romance story and that it was kept me captivated. Those characters were genius in terms of how evil they were, and how you could feel there hate for Clay and Pippa. You just knew it was all going to explode at some point. It kept me on the edge of my seat the whole way through waiting for the explosion to happen and wondering how it was going to come about.

There were some moments (although these were few) where a page or two didn’t quite keep me interested and part of me wanted to skip forward a little but apart from that I really enjoyed this story with its loveable characters, descriptive writing and a plot with a good balance of romance and suspense.

Synopsis

Rich, beautiful, and wild, Reagan McKinley has everything she needs…but nothing that she wants. That is, until she spends one hot night in the arms of sexy, unbridled Dare Wilde.

She’s a girl trapped in a rigid world she desperately wants to escape, and he’s an untamed artist with an attitude, hell-bent on freeing her—body, mind, and soul. But Reagan’s life is not her own, and Dare is not welcome in it. She can’t include him in her carefully-controlled, extremely public lifestyle…and yet she cannot give him up.

Will a shared passion for art—and, increasingly, each other—be enough to keep them together? Or will it be the thing that ultimately tears them apart?

Review

“Emptiness filled every part of my body and mind. But who fucking cared? I had other, less conventional means of fulfillment. Pop an upper. Shoot some tequila. Fuck a stranger. Bury shame. Get a 4.0 GPA. Play perfect daughter. Rinse and Repeat.”

I have to say I am a serial convert. I used to avoid these like the plague but lately I find myself devouring several a week. There is something about an ongoing story that you don’t have to wait a long time for that has me wanting more and more. Being a serial this wasn’t terribly long and I was easily able to read it in one sitting while the munchkins watched a few cartoons. Untamed is part one in a six part serial with each part revealing more and more of Raegan and Dare’s story!

“I’d surrendered all common sense and lost myself in him. Completely. Wholly. Desperately. I couldn’t get enough.”

Being that this story is short with lots packed in I don’t want to go too far into plot because I worry that saying more than the synopsis would be taking away from what you the reader should get to discover. So let’s go over the important aspects of this story. First, Raegan, I didn’t love her but that being said at this point in the story I am not sure I am supposed to. She is a bit rich and spoiled and thinks pills and alcohol is a good way to drown out the life she is supposed to live but desperately wants out of. Now Dare, LORDY LORDY LORDY, can I just say holy-smoke-I-need-a-cold-shower-HOTTNESS! Dare is everything I want my book boyfriend to be kind, caring, alpha, and hot as hell! He has his own drama but never lets HIS drama change how he feels about Raegan or get in the way of what he wants with her.  I am literally DYING for more of him.

“Two parts,” he said softly. “One Whole.” And my heart filled with Dare. Bubbled up and overflowed, spilled out of my body, saturating the entire apartment, the building, the city. Coloring my entire world.

To be perfectly honest when asked to review this story I had never heard of either author but the well written blurb and story idea grabbed me and I thought why not give it a shot, worse case scenario is that it’s short and won’t take long. Well lucky me cause it was fantastic. I can honestly tell you that Victoria and Jinsey’s work is great and I will anxiously waiting for more from them.
