I love action and adventure and this story, albeit short, had a lot. Also, this is my first encounter with Lainey Reese and it was thoroughly enjoyable. I can’t wait to read more of her works! That’s the fun thing about anthologies; you just might get a chance to meet someone new.

Cherrie Lynn ~ Shameless

The only story in this anthology without a menage twist, however I was still enthralled with the story of Meri and Cam. A lifelong friends kind of love. A tricky best friend of the brother kind of love. A hot vacation kind of love with a voyeuristic twist. Yeah, this one was definitely cute, a little on the funny side and had a lot of heart! It too, was the first time I have read anything by Cherrie Lynn and I can’t wait to read more.

Olivia Cunning ~ One Starry Night

WOW. My mind is blown. I knew I saved the best for last, because to me, Olivia writes the BEST sex scene. Period. This amazingly HOT story is about a high school reunion taking the best possible turn into complete and utter satisfaction-land. Devlin, the nerdy guy turned hot business man; Jake, the always rebel, and Michelle, the mean girl turned photographer meet up and the sparks fly. For all three of them. That’s right, my favorite kind of menage: m/m/f. Once again, Olivia leaves me wanting more. This love match could be it’s own full length novel.     Hint Hint.

Now my reviews are listed in the order that I read them. I didn’t follow the order printed, not exactly sure why, but firefighters, followed by cowboys, then security protection dudes, and a personal trainer and lastly a rock group roadie and businessman, well that just says it all 🙂 This is a MUST read. It is HOT, scorching really and will leave you completely satisfied!

I am giving this book 4 smooches because I can completely respect how hard it is to live with someone in your life who battles addiction, and then to put what is in your heart and head into words, on paper, for the world to see, can not be an easy thing to do. I completely respect, sympathize and empathize with this and the battle as a loved one of an addict, and for that alone I give it the 4 smooches.

As far as the story goes, Van is a rock star in a very popular band. Stella Jo is a girl who tried to live up to everyone’s standards so she didn’t fail them or herself, and she struggles with this and the fact that she wants and needs to live her life as she sees fit, not to the standards of everyone else. They meet at the Second Chance Rehab. A Celebrity rehab that Stella works for and Van is admitted too … its love and hate at first sight. Stella cant seem to get him off her mind or out of her heart, as he seems to be embedding himself into. Van hates that she can see right through him. And so it begins and they end up being what each other needs, wants and cant live without. They help and heal each other in ways, nothing and no one else could.

In the beginning, the story dragged for me a little but it began to pick up eventually. It was heavy material that I thought was handled well. The grammar and spelling were good and the epilogue was awesome. It was my favorite part of the book.

I don’t really know how to say this, but the book itself, the story, didn’t really grab me. I didn’t think it was bad at all, it just didn’t grab me like other books do. The way the author handled the addiction is what impressed me. It’s a hard thing to write about in its most honest form, and it truly impressed me that the author handled it so well

Wow… I just finished this book and I really don’t know where to start! How do I write this review??? First off, this is NOT a romance novel. Going in I was a little nervous but I felt I had a pretty good idea of what I was getting myself into. I’ve read Jaden’s other books and I’m a big fan so I had faith in her genius as an author. I really enjoy the fact that her books are not conventional and in no way fit into the status quo. In saying that, this book was a big departure for me. I really don’t want to reveal too much of the book because any extra details would just take away from your own experience. Every time I go to write about what happened in the book I pull back because I don’t want to ruin it for everyone!

Alexandre Dane is a therapist, he is also a sociopath. He does terrible things and in this book you are right there in his head, along for the ride. I know I should hate him and part of me does but another part sympathizes with him more and more as the story moves forward. This is a very graphic, dark and twisty read with not a hint of romance but I loved every minute of it! Alexandre is so interesting and the storyline kept me guessing all the way through. The ending… Holy crap, what an ending! This book is a complete mind-fuck and I was left with even more questions than answers. I don’t believe Jaden has any plans for a follow up to this book but it just screams for a sequel. It kind of concerns me but I really do want more of Dr. Alexandre Dane.

Piper and Ryland’s relationship was frowned upon by so many from the start, especially Piper’s horrible step-dad who also happens to be the towns chief of police, but that didn’t stop them and they would meet up whenever they got the chance. However one night that all changes and Piper is forced to run away from home, all the while hoping that Ryland would move on and live his life.
When Piper returns to town to say goodbye to her ill mother and rescue her sister from their awful step-dad she realises that leaving hasn’t solved anything and Ryland was stuck in the same town he had always wanted out of.
What happens next is a series of events which could de-rail these characters lives even more and with more awful secrets coming to light that could destroy them, can this pair ever make it away and be together like they both have always wanted?

“You didn’t ruin my life Piper. You are my life. You always have been.”

I really loved this story. It was such a fast paced ride. I loved the romance and the relationship between Piper and Ry and then the drama and suspense that’s thrown in makes this a really captivating read.

Ry was the most protective book boyfriend I’ve ever read. The way he stood by Hadley when Piper left, the way he never stopped loving Piper or how he never listened to all the people who kept saying he could do better…he truly loved Piper and it was so lovely to read about.

“Whether she wanted to admit it or not, she would always be my girl.”

Piper was a great female lead. So strong, proud, willing to stand up for herself and her family and always putting others first. I could really relate to her and she was so likeable.

“I wanted to scream at him for still giving a damn about me. I’d done nothing but screw up his life. As much as I wanted to chase him away, another part of me wanted to beg him to forgive me for being such a disappointment.”

The plot line was intense. From the beginning you could tell it wasn’t going to be an easy journey for the characters and that hooked you in as you wanted to know how they were going to get through it.
I couldn’t believe how evil Piper and Hadley’s step-dad turned out to be, it was an intense plot line and when it all exploded I was holding my breath and having no idea how and if it was all going to work out.

“I wasn’t good for him, wasn’t worthy of his love. I wasn’t doing anything but holding him back. It just took everything going up in flames for me to see it.”

This was a story of forgiveness, love, standing up for those you love and trying to leave the past in the past and move forward. Overall a really enjoyable read and I’m definitely looking forward to reading Hadley’s story and finding out how she moves the past the demons that surely still haunt her.

Review

In Intrigued and Enchanted I was sucked into a love story of Lily and Brandon. Openness and honesty were influential in this story. No one wants to feel as though they have been lied to. And Brandon learns the hard way.

Brandon Redgrave was just so darn hot and gorgeous…whew. I was glad that the male lead didn’t have a dark side to him. He genuinely cared for Lily and I enjoyed reading it. Their connection was instant and the reader could definitely feel it.  I was swooning and probably would have blurted what Lily said on their first meaning…

Lily Pritchard is a senior at Columbia and is very goal oriented. She would love to keep her past in the past but since it was preventing her from letting new people in, Jess (her best friend) coerces Lily into giving Mr Tall Dark Adonis a chance.

Of course no one can hide from their pasts. And both Lily and Brandon had maneuver through it. Even if it cost a reader a chewed thumbnail, anxiously awaiting a happily ever after.

As I read Intrigued and Enchanted I noticed a few similarities toward my favorite books. It’s not necessarily a bad thing but just means a few things caught my eye and made me think of those books. It was a good read, so much in fact I would recommend to friends that love the billionaire romance genre with drama to keep them hooked. Brandon would correct me for mentioning he was a billionaire. When in fact he is a multi-millionaire that falls in love with an average girl.
